Karen3484 -> Singing in the Sun (2/4/2008 10:46:18 PM)

I plan on attending the Singing in the Sun at Myrtle Beach, SC in April. Has anyone on the list ever been? My question is do they have showcases during the day like they do at NQC? If so, do they charge for them and how do you find out who sings in them.

I have been several times to Singing In the Sun....yes, they do have singing in the afternoon by groups and there is no charge, it is usually held in the area where the vendors are located, I have not been on Ray Flynns website but do not think he has listed who is there each day in the afternoon just the nightly schedule.....

I am planning on going back this year. The last time I was there was 1999. I am looking forward to it.

Karen,
We (HEARTS OF FAITH) will be attending Singing in the Sun this year for the first time. I've heard from several people that it is an AWESOME event and that it's like having church! So we're really excited to be a part of it this year.
I can tell you that we will be singing on Wednesday afternoon and our booth location will be #3 and #4. Please stop by to meet us!

This will be my 5th year out of the past six years. It is a great event. If I were to have any complaints it would be that each group sings only 25-30 minutes. I am a person who would rather see less groups and longer sets. You can't knock the talent they bring in though. The sound is excellent and they have big screens for everyone to see. The Saturday morning concert is free but they take a love offering.

They do have an evangelist each evening but they only preach for about 20 minutes and the sermons are usually excellent. Some people debated last year whether or not they should have preaching but I have no problem with it and they have a number of people who get saved every year.

I recommend reserve seats because the general admission sections are located at the sides of the stage and you are usually looking at the side of the singers.

Oh yea. Myrtle Beach is a great place for an event.

Kerrlaw -> RE: Singing in the Sun (2/5/2008 8:49:10 PM)

If I had known that mentioning Myrtle Beach would bring David out of two months of hibernation, I would have done it earlier.

We considered going last year, but my father's health problems took precedence.

Karen3484 -> RE: Singing in the Sun (2/5/2008 9:45:32 PM)

I emailed Ray Flynn Promotions and Denise Flynn emailed me back and gave me a run down of things that happen. She is going to email the names of the groups that will be singing in the showcases that week. Thank you all for your help. Now to buy the tickets, not general admission ones, I don't want to sit on the sides. hahhaah Thank you again.

I would recommend going to myrtlebeach.com. There are many hotels close the the convention center. And the rates this time of year are very reasonable. I will be there all four nights. I can't wait!

mommicked -> RE: Singing in the Sun (3/19/2008 9:23:55 AM)

I'm so excited about going to this event this year! It's almost here!! Just to update the schedule posted here; Tony Gore & Majesty will not be performing Friday night, instead The Whisnants are taking the stage!!!

BBfan -> RE: Singing in the Sun (4/2/2008 9:44:22 AM)

The Breakers is a great choice but there are many others. I will be driving up and back for Wedesday and Saturday's concerts.
