My little guy is 9 months. He'll be a year in September.
My SIL had her kids close and she said she would never do it that way again, but I guess we just feel like we want to get the baby stage over with and just do it and be done...that sounds silly once i type it out, but it makes sense to us.

Hey, whatever works for you, Yolanda, it doesn't really sound silly at all. My brother and I are 15 months apart with him being younger. Needless to say...he wasn't planned. I'm not sure what the actual plan was for children, but after both of us being in diapers at the same time....well, that ended any further plans of more children...at least for my parents.

Every couple and family is different though. For myself, I always thought 3 years space in between kids would be nice. Well, I have a step-daughter (from 1st marriage) that is almost exactly 3 years older than DS. Thought that was perfect...and by the time he was 3...I would have another. Well, he's now 5 & I've been divorced and then married again throughout the years. We still haven't had another. It's really in God's timing...just wish it would come sooner rather than later sometimes though....

I already put something similar in the struggling to conceive thread, but I wanted to post it here too... because potentially more people read/respond here...

I am really disappointed/upset/sad about the fact that I have a cyst right now, and can't go with my "regular" of clomid followed by progesterone. Instead I have to take birth control pills. It really stinks that that means that there is very little/no hope of anything happening this month then. I mean, I'm very grateful that they found it, and that it *should* go away with this BC but it's really contrary to what I want to be doing right now.

I could really use some prayers or encouraging words or something... if someone wants to offer any. =)

I had read your other post; I'm sorry that you need to do BC to get rid of the cyst--that is frustrating. I'll be praying for you.

I'm sorry, Gina.[:(] I forget...do you have PCOS or no? Sigh. Either way...the stupid cyst stinks. I'll pray that it goes away and that NEXT month will be it for you.

Thank you for the responses. It is (the whole thing... infertility, etc...) heart breaking. This, well.. it really hurts right now.

Well, my current doctor says no to PCOS, because when he did the surgery to take out the fallopian tube cyst, he said everything else looked really really good. I don't know... maybe it's time to see another doctor, one who specializes in things.. but I don't know if our insurance will cover it. I guess that's what we do next... figure out insurance things.

Nothing really new to report from my doc appt. this afternoon.

Test was negative at the office and he basically told me it was too soon to be testing anyways. Um...hello, it's day 28 of the cycle. Isn't that when you usually test, give or take? Of course I never got a positive on the OPK...so I don't know what to think.

If I were staying here, he would start me on Clomid in a few months if we were not successful by then. I don't really think that's the best course of action from what everyone has here has said. *sigh*

AF will probably rear her head tomorrow. [:'(]

Megan, just make sure that they don't just start you on clomid somewhere without having a reason to do so. Plus, they really need to test your hubby too... cause the clomid would do no good if he had issues too. (I know you don't want to go the clomid route, but just something to keep in mind)

You could get a reliable positive on day 28, but not a reliable negative.

I agree with Gina about having hubby tested before you consider Clomid.

DH has agreed to be tested after the move. I'm just leery of Clomid because of various things and without even knowing what's really going on (at least from the way this guy leads on...although he mentions PCOS). So....IDK....

And I'm guessing that the negative probably was reliable. I am basing this on the cramping pains I have started to have this morning (no flow yet, but probably before the day is over....which makes this day 29 or day 1...if the bleeding actually occurs).

Hi ladies,

I've always lurked in here, but today I thought I would post.

Our daughter (19 months) was a very nice surprise. We were thrilled, since it was the beginning of our marriage and had prepared ourselves for the possibility we may not be able to conceive (all of the women in my family struggled with infertility at one point.)

Since my daughter was born we haven't been actively trying to prevent pregnancy, but we haven't been trying to get pregnant either (makes sense?)

We have now decided to go a bit beyond that and begin trying. Dh doesn't want to get involved with charting and all that stuff until we've tried for a while without any success. I think I may soon begin paying more attention to my body to help us along a bit though.

Anyways, my mother struggled with secondary infertility. It took her 5 years to conceive me, even with fertility treatments. We're praying that the infertility issues in my family have ended at me, and that things will go smoothly for us the second time around.

Lexie, I pray you don't face issues with secondary infertility. It's the pits, hun! In some ways it is worse because you keep telling yourself, I've done this before. My body has carried a child...we didn't have trouble conceiving him or her....and now there is a problem? (((hugs)))

We are still thinking about starting to try again when I go back to work in September. I'm getting a little anxious, I would almost like to start again now, but I think it's better if we just wait a little bit longer.

I haven't posted in this thread in a long time, but here I go. I stopped taking birth control and this is my first cycle without it. We are not going to be actively trying, but we are not going to be preventing either. We are going to be letting go and trusting God for our next child. It is exciting to think about having another little one. Hunter is 18 months old so I am finally to a point where if we had another child I wouldn't feel like he lost out on his time as our baby. That has always been my biggest thing is I wanted him to have his time as the baby just like I want our next one to have their time before we have a third...if we decide to have a third that is.

Chelle - it looks like we're both in the exact same situation! I haven't been on any birth control for a while though. I'm happy to be at the point where Akeelah is very independent. I look after a one year old a few days a week and Akeelah is wonderful with her, very big sister like. It's nice to see.

I've been ready to try for another for a while now, but Dh has been hesitant. I'm so happy to have him excited for this now!

I know I shouldn't worry about secondary infertility until we really get trying but it's hard. My family history is:

Maternal grandmother - only able to have one child late in life
Two maternal aunts - not able to have any children
Paternal grandmother - pregnant with twins at 22, lost one, unable to have anymore
Mother - a short time of TTC with first, 5 years of ttc (including fertility treatments) to conceive me.

I got pregnant when trying to prevent, and my sister got pregnant the first month she went off bcp, so we're hoping that the problems have ended with us. But it's worrying.

Yolanda - September is a good idea because it means you'll work enough to qualify for maternity leave right?

October conception is our perfect timing. Dh is a supply teacher, so he'll have worked for the year and qualify for EI, meaning he won't have to work for the summer and will be home for the first two months. But that is perfect timing.

Any good books or websites that can teach me about ovulation? I know nothing about my cycle.

Lexie, do you know what problems they had? My family history looks similar but we didn't have much of an issue conceiving Gabby and now that medical science is a bit better everything that my Aunt's suffered from is now treatable.

I don't know, my maternal grandmother and my aunts never spoke about it and none of us wanted to ask. Now they have all passed so we can't ask. I should have written that they were my great aunts, I don't have any aunts and uncles. Back then, I believe they kind of just accepted they wouldn't have children and didn't really look for answers.

My paternal grandmother was never given a reason. My father was born during WW2 and they never had the resources to see doctors and find out what was wrong. Once they immigrated here they just accepted they would have one child.

I should ask my mother about hers, I don't know the full story. She ended up conceiving me after they stopped trying.

Lexie, the ladies around here like the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It's a book which has information, but there is also a site where you can download the same or similar information (the TCOYF) where you can chart, etc. to see if you're ovulating. I've just started using TCOYF so I really don't know much more about it than that.

Yes, I think I need about 6 months to get enough hours to get maternity leave, so that should be good. Technically, I could start trying now and still have enough time, but if things go like last time and I'm off work for 2 or 3 months of my pregnancy, it wouldn't work out so well.
