That's what I'm going to have to do. Yes, I like the people I've been going to see...they are kind & actually treat me more human than the previous doctors have....but they don't listen to me!!

Last night I broke down because I have been battling bronchitis for a good while now (taking antibiotic) and I'm not really that much better, but the doc won't do anything else for me. It's the same with this reproductive issue as my husband & I want more children (he just turned 41--so that gives us 3 mos. to conceive unless my DH attends his children's high school graduation at age 60 or older).

3 months for what? That's a lot of pressure. Is he not going to want to 'try' anymore after 3 months or is he getting a vasectomy? 60's really not that old. Joel and I had Hannah when he was 30 so that means he'll be 47 when she's graduating high school...and the Lord knows when we'll have our last child...so we very well could be having high school graduations when Joel's in his 60's. It's not a bad thing to have an 'older' parent. In fact Joel's dad and mom were 45 and 39 respectively when he was born...and they're both still alive.

my parents were "young" parents, but should David and I successfully conceive, we will be "old" parents. David is already 43, and I'm 36... I think, in fact I know, I would not have planned it this way, but we'll be fine even if we are "old" parents. =) God knows best. =)

I won't be an "old" mother; in fact, many would classify me as a "young" mother (I'll be 26 on my next birthday). My DH is 41 though...so...I guess that's where the time line fits in (if that makes sense). It's mostly cuz I know for him he wants to be able to enjoy his kids, play with them, etc.

Edited to add a phrase...

of course... we all want children when we can enjoy doing the fun things with them... it's just that God's timetable is not the same as our own, and just because we turn a certain age doesn't mean we won't be able to enjoy them. =)

There's a 17 year difference between me and my youngest brother, so my mom and dad were "young" parents with me and are "old" parents with my brother. They didn't enjoy either of us any less and they have been amazing parents to both of us (and my other 5 siblings in between me and the youngest )

The opposite was true in my case. My parents were able to do everything with my siblings (and did). They were young when my siblings were born and growing up. But when I was born they were "older" parents...unfortunately too old to do much with me. They aren't ancient, but were at that point where it just wasn't happening. I hear they had lots of fun with my older sisters though. (I'm 22 yrs old now; my sisters are 38 yrs and 36 yrs, and if my brother had lived, he'd be around 40 yrs.) My parents and I never could do anything, and with the ways things are, we probably won't be able to.

It works out in a good way for a lot of people (in that "older" parents can enjoy all their children just the same), but it doesn't work out for everyone like that.

My IL's were "young" parents with the first set and "old" parents with the second. They definitely did more fun stuff with the first set of kids, but I think alot of it also had to do with their fitness level, and willingness to take off work and stuff. It also could have been because the "newness" had worn off.

With my DH, I know he will do things with our kids, etc. After all, he does a HUGE number of things with our 4 (almost 5) year old. It's just a matter of as Ryanne mentioned "fitness level".

We'll just have to see how God blesses

DOF, my parents are still raising little kids and they do just great! They are actually the same age as DH's parents, so I really think it has to do with attitude.

I tend to agree, Ryanne. DH has the best attitude about children...he just really loves & adores them. He's currently the CE Director at our church & the little ones are always clamoring for his attention (which he gladly gives).

My parents are in their early 50s and still have plenty of energy to do active stuff with my yongest brothers (11 and 12). Last weekend they all went camping together, for example. Plus, when I was a kid, we were dirt poor (sharing a bedroom with three other siblings comes to mind...), but now my parents are able to take my brothers on a nice vacation every summer, live in a big house with lots of land and horses, and send my brothers to private school. There are advantages to having young parents and there are advantages to having older parents.

Also, as the oldest, my parents always called me their PC... "practice kid." Every time they did something that didn't work out well, they'd say, "Well, Amy's our PC. We'll do better with the next one."

That is such great news, FoxInSox

I recollect from previous posts that y'all were having some "issues" with intimacy. How awesome that you're now able to say we're TTC!!!

daughter_of_faith,

LOL, "issues" puts it lightly. It's been a L O N G road. We are also doing some brief couples counseling to make sure it "sticks."

LOL. Babies are a LOT of work....yes. But....they are SUCH a blessing!!! And I wasn't sure how to phrase the "issues"....so hence my word choice. Counseling sounds good :)

Anyone else praying for stickies?!?! We'll resume once DH gets back from Chicago on the 24th. I should be beginning a new cycle any day now. It's hard to know what to expect as I had surgery on the 18th of April & the month prior to that I had an endo lining biopsy...

Well, I may be wrong on this....but I thought a sticky was a newly formed baby that stuck where s/he belongs. At least that's how I meant it so to speak....

Yeah, I think people say they hope you have a "sticky" baby, meaning they hope that a baby sticks (and stays) inside of you. I know what people mean and I know that they aren't trying to be offensive, but I absolutly HATE the term. I did not lose my baby because he didn't "stick" But maybe I'm just overly sensitive
