I don't think she was voted off for her weight, because she lasted a long time. If they were going to vote her off for her weight, she would have been the first star voted off. Now, I do think her weight hindered her ability to move as gracefully (as someone who has taken a dance as a not so skinny person, I can testify that's just the way it is), but she did well, all things considered. I think she is happy to get get as far as she did.

Marissa worked very hard and improved every week. Her size did make it hard for her to move as well, but I don't think her leaving had anything to do with her weight. I hated to see her go, she was such fun and added such spirit to a show that can sometimes drag. I hope Kristy and Mark win this.

Marissa really got on my nerves in the beginning because she seemed fake bubbly to me, but I really grew to like her. Bless her heart, she was so excited every time she moved on. I wish she would have made it another week and Edyta & Jason could have gone. But honestly, if we just look at dancing she was the right one to go home. I'm glad she made it as far as she did though!

Marissa was always so bubbly and she did improve and worked hard each week. It will be Kristi and Jason as the final two. Cristian can't get too far with one arm only.

But I think realistically her weight hindered her. In a perfect world, she would have made it to the finals, but America still think that the "skinny girls" can win because it is reality and unfortunatly, the public accepts that because size does matter. I wish people do not think that way, but in sociey it is the norm and I wish it was not like that.

Yes, her weight did hinder her in her ability to move as gracefully as the others. (as someone else said.) The girls with less weight do flow and glide better that's just the way it is. Did anyone see those young kids the thirteen year olds? They were great! I don't usually watch that part but for some reason caught them. Wow.

Monday night was the first time that I believed that Carrie Ann judged Marissa more on her body type than her actual dancing. Her dancing was very good this week. I don't see any other reason for her giving Marissa an 8. Carrie Ann didn't really have any specific critique--just, "It didn't do it for me." Those kids last night were great and the oldest couple (under 13) was phenomenal.

You know, the other thing that limited Marissa was simply her body layout! Short legs only extend so far, and as a former dancer with short, chunky legs and a big rear end, it's hard to get that extension. And even if you're as flexible as a pretzel, like I am, it still ain't gonna look the same. I think Carrie Ann was ridiculous last night and I think Marissa did a fantastic job! Should she have stayed? No. But Carrie Ann could have given a better explanation as to why.

Maybe those things Carrie Ann said because of her body make up and her weight--because Carrie Ann has this "perfect body," maybe she was thinking that she did not have no business being there thus far and people began to feel sorry for her. I hope this is not the case.

I hope this is not the case. I don't believe Carrie Ann purposely judged Marissa's dance based on her body type. I just think her judgment couldn't get past what Marissa's body looks like to accurately judge Marissa's performance. I don't think it was a conscious prejudice.

Yeah, I don't think it was a conscious thing either. This is going to sound horrible, but honestly Marissa just wasn't as enjoyable to watch dance as the other girls. If I am honest I will say it is because the other women have much better looking bodies (IMO).

I was pulling for Marissa and I hate she had to go! I agree with the Edyta comments - I told my daughter the first week of competition - you know I love football but I can't pull for Edyta!

ORIGINAL: narnia I think people don't care for Edyta. She has been on the show all six seasons and has never won. A couple of times she did have partners that were clunkers. I agree with the others-people are tired of her showing off and her lack of dress. It's troubling that 'ballroom' dance has turned just as bad as the local ballet studio or the jazz dance studio when it comes to dress codes. Trust me, if you've never seen how those kids "dress" -- well, I can't say. Only one of the professional partners (Cheryl Burke) remaining has won in the past (E. Smith). The other two haven't won before. It should be interesting to see who wins, but it should be a great storyline. Will Kristi be sacked by Jason? And if Jason wins, will ESPN show the trophy presentation? And oh, by the way: guess who is singing the National Anthem at Indy for the 500? That person has natural interest in one of the drivers -- if you remember Series 5, you should know the answer!

Who will it be? #99 #6 Should be fun. One more thing most people don't think. Kristi Yamaguchi has an Olympic Gold Medal, and her husband has a Stanley Cup title (CAR 2006). Jason Taylor has yet to have that "killer instinct" and win big. (And #6 refers to Bret Hedican's sweater with the Hurricanes in 2006, if you're not familiar.)

I wish people do not think that way, but in sociey it is the norm and I wish it was not like that. Yes, her weight hindered her, because weight makes it harder to glide around with grace, or sometimes do certain other kinds of athletics. That's why gymnasts/ice skaters/ballerinas/lightweight wrestlers are often on strict diets. I do not think she was discriminated against because of her weight, I think they treated her quite well and worked with her quite well, regarding her weight. Look, she lasted longer than the very athletic, very in shape tennis player, so that is evidence right there that she was not discriminated against because of her weight. However, her weight did hinder her to some extent. That's just fact. Just like when I took ballet, some of my extra pounds hindered me. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, it just means I didn't move the same as if I was a size 7. She got more of a dancing opportunity there than she probably would anywhere else. Yes, size matters, and that's not always bad. I mean, it shouldn't matter in how we judge a person, or who we'll be friends with, but in athletics its OK for it to matter one way or another. For example, Sumo wrestlers are big, certain positions in football are played by bigger people, ice skates are tiny. That's just the way it is. Taller people have a harder time in gymnastics. Short people have a harder time with basketball. Some people's body types are just more suited for some sports than others, and that's ok.

I think she left because of the four remaining dancers, she was the weakest

I think the judges and voters have been very fair in judging by the dance itself, not by size, name, disability, etc. I think her going home right at this point was fair and square. Like you said, the 3 remaining dancers are stronger at this point.

I don't think that Marissa went home because of her weight or body type. She was the weakest of the 4 remaining couples. Even if Marissa had gotten 3 tens this week she probably would have gone home because she was the weakest of the four. My contention is that for the first time I believe that Carrie Ann judged Marissa's rumba through the filter of Marissa's body type and not on her performance. Marissa danced beautifully. Carrie Ann gave her an 8 -- EIGHT. Did it change the outcome? No. But, it does slightly hurt my opinion of Carrie Ann's judgment. Carrie Ann is usually better than that.

Monday on The New American Gladiators, you can see the difference when contenders climb The Wall (now 50', vs 32' in the original AG, and 40' in the first series of the revival). Smaller, lighter people with longer legs were able to outclimb bigger people up one of the signature events of both the original series and the current revival.

I think Kristi is going to win it all! I thought her dances were awesome. It's about time a girl won it again, and Kristi has the best chance of doing so that I've seen in awhile.
