I had to share what I saw on my drive home from work today. I can honestly say this was a first - aside from seeing video of someone doing the same thing on one of those "World's Stupidest Drivers" TV shows....

I'm heading to take our work mail to the post office. It's one of the main roads through town - 4 lanes, 40mph speed limit. I am in the right hand lane and begin to approach a slower car in the left hand lane. I see something large, long & thin hanging off the side of the car. As I get closer, I realize what it was:

The gas pump nozzle followed by the entire hose sticking out of the car's gas tank and being drug down the road. (Have I ever mentioned that we have some really scary drivers around where I live?)

So, I approach the car wondering how I am going to signal to the driver that they have a problem. I can't imagine how unsafe this is... on sooooo many levels.... Right about then, he brakes and turns left onto one of the side residential streets. I figure he must have realized he had a problem and was pulling off the road. After I passed, I looked back and saw that he had kept driving so apparently he still couldn't figure out he had a problem...

And somewhere in town there is a gas station with a missing nozzle/hose on one of it's pumps...

This is a reason why you should always carry a camera with you.

You know, it's not nice to chat here all day without me and then vanish when I get here.

Wanna hear about the stupid thing I did today?

Wait, I forgot who I was talking to, no need to ask.

After taking care of other people's dogs this morning and then going to work, I came home and picked up my dogs for their vet appt. When I got there they were a little disconcerted to see me. They told me I was late. I asked if my appt wasn't at that time and they said yes, but 24 hours ago.

So, today's not Monday, huh?

Well....don't they know that you have more important things to remember....like start a snarky thread

Exactly. Sheesh, some people have no sense of what's really important in life.

Kristin, have you heard anything on the news about this? I can't imagine that the damage to the pump was minimal (nor safe).

Oh wow.

I hope his GF takes good care of him.

Are you going to be keeping the dogs?

No, everyone was on their way home around 8pm. No one was staying at the hospital or even in that city.

Edit ~ except for the patient, of course.

I know someone who did this (no not me), and the pumps are set to shut of in situations like this.

Whew! Good to know they were considering something like this could happen

Personally, I find that scary but....

I haven't seen anything on the news but I'll post a link if something does pop up. It only happened about 2.5 hours ago though so...

Guess what?

Give up????

This evening I put together a genuine simulated wood filing cabinet. (Whoever invented those cam lock thingies was a genius!)

Yeah, it took me 2 hours. So what? I had a LOT of interruptions.

Oh, and, before that, I had this iced double something or other at Starbucks. Yeah, I think it's my new favorite drink. It's got like 67 shots of espresso in it.

So tomorrow I can hook up this printer that's been sitting here for.....oh, I don't know.....six months or more.

So, how many days do you think it will be before you can fall asleep?...

Yay Lioness!

Isn't is fun to be able to accomplish something like that? (the cabinet, not the Starbucks )

And I agree . . . those cam lock things are awesome!

Maybe 3 or 4. 5 tops.

Maybe you can get a lot of work done.

I was always the instruction reader/tool lackey/parts assistant. I never got to build stuff myself before.

I am going to let GC organize the filing to go in there (just kid stuff mostly anyway). She'll do a good job and, whenever I need something, she'll have to get it for me!

In spite of the mega-doses of caffeine I've consumed, I am worn slap out. Gotta hit the hay. Night!
