Neat thread! I was contemplating starting one, but couldn't decide which ten denominations to choose.

I attend a non-denominational evangelical church. Any suggestions which I should vote? Or might it perhaps be a good idea to take a denomination that's unlikely to get any votes (Episcopalian?) and change it to "Non-Denominational (Christian)"?

Feel no obligation, it's just a thought.

Hate to disappoint you, Daniel, but I'm an Episcopalian. Maybe that's not the one to omit.

Hey...... not all of us Pentecostals are bad! But the thing that I love most about SG concerts, it don't really matter all that much which denomination you belong to.

Oh, pittsgirl! I did not mean to imply that being Pentecostal is a bad thing!!!! It's just not me! I've been a Baptist most of my 57 years, and I really am not going to change now!! Hubby is a very happy Pentecostal!

Independent Fundamental Baptist!

I'm one of those but usually just say Baptist. I agree with a preacher friend of mine - "many Independent Baptist are so Independent they forget to be dependent on God". Both he and I are Independents so we can talk about them.

I'm a blood bought born again child of the King! I do attend a certain denomination now (and have attended quite a few in the past) but at the end of the day denomination to me means nothing (not meant to offend anyone).

I agree!

I often identify myself as a Daughter of Our Most High King. The home church back in Jackson that I attended and loved so very much was made up of people from various denominations (and seeing that the "core" of that group was only about 12 regular attenders, that's really saying something).

I am a Christian that happens to attend a Baptist church.
I must say that this thread is why I love all of you...so far, NOT one negative comment about someone's denominational affiliation. I can feel the love!

Me too. Well said, L5MAN!

And as far as denomination, I know that what you have done with Jesus is most important. You can be any ______ denomination for years and years, but if you are not saved by the blood of Jesus, you will go to Hell as fast as any other non-regenerate person.

Ok, I'm done preaching now.

I was raised attending a General Baptist church. We belonged there until a few years ago. We have belonged to a Southern Baptist church since that time. When we lived away from here, we also attended Methodist and Christian churches. It is not the name on the door, it is the spirit of the people inside. Heaven will not be divided into denominations. It will be full of sinners who were saved by Grace.

This is how I feel. It doesn't matter the name on the door. Its the way I feel when I worship there.

I voted Baptist.

My mother grew up Presbyterian. My Father Methodist. We used to go to a Dutch Reformed church when I was young. The pastor was truly saved while most of the parish was not. My parents pulled out when the pastor died. The parish didn't really want to hear the truth.

From there we went to an independent fundamental KING JAMES ONLY Bible church. I finished growing up there and also went to the private school there from k through 8. We then attended another Bible church 15 minutes from here after there was a split in the church.

Since then, I really have not attended a home church. There are over 15 just in this small city, but none that appeal to me. So, I depend on TBN for my church. I only watch Dr Stanley, Dr Kennedy, but my very favorite is Adrian Rogers. He just speaks the un-varnished word like no other I have ever heard. Certainly all 3 are my heroes!

Had to go with "other". I grew up in the Friends (Quaker) church, but now attend a C&MA (Christian & Missionary Alliance) church.

I voted non denom.
But I want to add a comment. I have attended many, many SG concerts and though most groups announce from the stage that they are Baptist--there is such a spirit of unity at the concerts that it is really a non issue. I remember George Younce letting out one of his "GLORY" yells that would make many dead pentecostals ashamed because he could out shout them. And he did it with dignity and class. When groups are not bound by their record companies--and allowed to minister and have prayer--the moving of the Spirit of the Lord is undeniable. Lives are changed at a simple concert--the gospel is communicated. So I don't care if it comes from a Baptist singer, or Pentecostal or AG, COG, Methodist...etc.

Well spoken! I wanted to shout a glory this morning, but felt if I did I would be looked down upon (i'm methodist). Which is also one of the reasons i'm looking for a church I can worship in. I don't want to repress the spirit of God.
