Is it hard to balance ministry time at your home church with ministry out on the road while touring?

MyGodIsEnough -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (3/18/2008 4:10:43 PM)

What does the name “Casting Crowns” mean, and how did you come up with it?

Thanks!! :-)

cbacon5 -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (3/18/2008 5:19:22 PM)

Saw you guys in November with Leeland and John Waller - great concert. Loved the way you guys had to take off to be back with your youth group on Sunday Morning. As a volunteer youth worker, I'm interested to know if the majority of your youth group is "church" kids and, aside from Bible Study, what your thoughts are on the best way to get middle school aged kids on fire for discipleship and deepening their relationship with Christ. And how do you balance the amount of time for pushing evangelism toward unsaved kids with time devoted to discipling your "core" kids. I know it's more than one question but hope you'll get to all of them.

There are a lot of aspiring musicians and ministers that look up to you, and I'm a new minister that does. When you were getting started in this ministry, who did you look up to?

MyGodIsEnough -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/8/2008 11:17:24 AM)

These questions are for Chris. :)

- What kind of basses do you use?
- Are the bass parts for Casting Crowns' songs in standard tuning?

Thanks!! :)

East To West=WOW!! One of the BEST songs EVER! I just LOVE it!! What inspired you to write that?!?!? How did the lyrics come to you?

singersmartguy17 -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/14/2008 8:00:43 AM)

Hi!

I was just wondering what the next single from TAATD will be? I hope we dont have to wait 5 months for one, like between East To West and Every Man. If I may make a suggestion, I would go for Slow Fade, that's my favorite :-)

Anticonformist23 -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/19/2008 12:17:50 PM)

I really like the song "Slow Fade." Where did you get the inspiration for it?

HEdefinesMe -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/20/2008 3:47:43 PM)

Hi! Your music is so awesome! I really love 'Praise You in this storm'. What was your inspiration for the song and the songwriting process behind it?

Thanks!
~Kristin

ThisMoment -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/20/2008 7:47:37 PM)

What is your favorite song to perform live?

Also, Mark, I recently saw a picture of the Star Wars desk that’s in your church office. I was curious to know what inspired you to choose the carbon frozen Han Solo as the focus of your desk?

Thanks!

sing2my_King -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/20/2008 9:52:24 PM)

Hey Casting Crowns! I could never pick a favorite, although East to West ranks pretty high on my list of favorite songs!!!
"Here I Go Again" and "Prayer for a Friend" are awesome... I totally relate to those songs when I'm trying to witness to friends. I was just wondering if those songs were inspired by a specific person that you were trying to witness to, and if so, if it was the same person for both songs? And is the person/people that song was inspired by saved now?

Oh, yeah, and when are you guys coming to UTAH!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Hm... or maybe I should visit you guys' church sometime when I'm visiting in GA, LOL! [sm=icon_smile_fish.gif]

In Christ,

Hey Casting Crowns!!! What's going on? I am one of the users on the Casting Crowns message boards, go by the name of Travis... You all have been a gigantic blessing to me, and i am starting to introduce your music to the Church that i go to, several people already like it... my favorit song is "Slow Fade" and thanks to a certain member on the CCBoards (hint- the favorite moderator there) i know there is a music video coming out in the fall... i am wondering if you could provide a meaning behind the song, and what 'could be' in the video. if you "cant" tell i understand, but i am looking forward to the video in the fall... gives me something to look forward to after basic training for the NAVY...

In the Light of Christ~~~ Travis

HI Casting Crowns!!!

Thanks! Keep that encouraging music coming!!!

MyGodIsEnough -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/22/2008 12:01:50 PM)

My mom had a question. :)

My question is about the lyrics in “Somewhere In The Middle”. I understand the intent and analogies of all the comparisons such as “the hot and the cold”, and “the new and the old”, etc., but I am not sure about “Fearless warriors in a picket fence”. A fearless warrior would look out of place in a picket fence, and I usually think of a picket fence area as a safe haven with no need for defense to the extreme of a fearless warrior…I would love to know the intent of this contrast. I was also wondering about the lines “reckless abandon wrapped in common sense” and “deep water faith in the shallow end”.

This song has many powerful symbols of the extremes of faith and choices in everyday life. The lyrics are thought provoking lines, however those three lines gave us a lot to ponder. We have had several family discussions about the possible meanings. Spiritual conversation is good I know, but all the possibilities (too many to list here) we came up with still left us wondering! We would love to know what was your original intent for the interpretation of these three lines? Thank you for clarifying this for us.

Also, one request…please make a “The Alter and The Door” concert DVD soon! We very much enjoyed your concert when you were in our area and would appreciate the opportunity to have it on DVD.

Thank you!

KateL -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/22/2008 3:48:05 PM)

I was at your concert in Hershey the other week. It was amazing! All your songs speak to us and are amazing. The lyrics, message, and meanings behind your songs are so powerful. Slow Fade is so true! I think I read somewhere that you homeschool? Is that true?

crazylefty4God -> RE: Chat with Casting Crowns (4/23/2008 9:08:26 AM)

Hey all,

Sorry Casting Crowns wasn't able to make it yesterday. Mark had a family emergency and couldn't meet with us.
