Have any of you Neil Diamond fans heard his last album, 12 Songs? I think it definitely moves out of the guilty pleasure zone. It reminds me so much of Leonard Cohen, which is just wonderful.

I had a feeling that Neil's hair might still be alive, but I thought he had dropped dead. I have a ton of Neil Diamond music, but I really enjoy the older stuff... Cherry Cherry, Kentucky Woman, Sweet Caroline, Brother Love's TSS, Thank the Lord for the Nighttime... but I think my favorite Neil Diamond songs have to be Longfellow Serenade, Be, and Beautiful Noise. Probably because of the memory association I mentioned earlier. I have some really good memories of a great summer and 4th of July when I was a kid, and Neil's 'Gold' and '12 Greatest Hits vol.2' albums were the soundtrack :)

PS. Red Red Wine used to be a favorite, too!

Ok, Fergie is definitely a guilty pleasure!

Okay, okay, okay.... for all of the things I have stated in response to my personal desire to listen to mainly Christian music. I will now admit embarrassingly, that I have a few guilty pleasures.
#1) Simply Red! Love love love Simply Red
#2) I still love the Wallflowers (not so guilty with the exception of my stance on most secular music)
#3) Michael Buble
#4 Andre Bocelli, amazing voice.

There are probably a few others I could admit to but will limit your laughter by only listing these four.

No laughter, and the Wallflowers are still good. Guess I could call the rest guilty pleasures though.

Bocelli is just great music. I wouldn't be ashamed of that at all.

This is a pretty good definition of what a guilty pleasure is. Now maybe we can get some posts that make sense.

Well, I have a good friend of mine who I have met and is also in forums who thought that it was odd that I would actually pick up ABBA's Greatest Hits CD, enought said.

Yes, but it all depends on who your friends are and if they have any taste

Listening to any secular artist should be considered a "guilty pleasure".

Is reading a book by any secular author also a guilty pleasure? Or watching a news broadcast that is produced by a secular producer? Or eating food made by a secular chef?

Well, technically that can be true...

Whoah.... can you feel the tension in here, or is it just me? LOL
Well, I listen to ABBA all the time. And I never felt guilty about it until I read how many ya'll think that its possibly embarrassing to listen to 'em. Seriously though, my guilty pleasure is 50s and 60s music. Any rock, doo wop, motown, pop, folk, or ANYTHING that came from that time slot I love.

Guilty as in listening to non-Christian music? I don't feel guilty about it at all.

Guilty as in a song that people who know me would never imagine that I liked? 'The Longest Time' by Billy Joel.

My guilty pleasures would be when I go on Napster and stream secular HM bands like Judas Priest, Fight, Halford, Suicidal Tendencies, Savatage, and a host of others. I do it infrequently because I try to keep it to the "Christian Rock Star" music as my young son calls it.

But would I think of myself as living my Christian walk better than another just because I listen to more Christian music! Hardly!!! I like secular chefs too!!!

BTW, I can only listen to p & w in church. Musically I find it some of the most repugnent stuff. It's like eating every piece of chocolate in a See's candies shop at one time. So sweet it'll give you cavities.

HAHAHA!!! Me too! I don't hardly ever listen to it though. I get my haunting vocal fix through Flyleaf and Eowyn.
