Ah, I was only thinking of bands that did Christian music not christians who did music. ; ) I would add then "Can You See Me" and "Song of Hope" by Glass Harp. : )

I also really liked Sweet Comfort Band from this time to.

I loved lots of them 'back then!' But I don't love them any longer. Now when I listen to them the music seems very dated to the late 60's early 70's and the lyrics that I once loved just don't hit the same. They were great in their era though.

Yes I remember quite a few Christian artists from that time frame. I played a great many when I was a disc jockey at a local Christian radio station. Yea, I miss David Martin and I'm looking to find Breath On The Windowpane. His first one Stronger Than The Weight you can find at ccentertainment.com on Cd. That's Chris Christians web site.

They rocked!!!! Of course I followed Bryan Duncan and Allies after that. Randy Thomas also had a shortlived duo called "Identical Strangers".

I loved the early music also. But I also love current bands that keep that Jesus Freak sense alive like Casting Crowns, Mercyme, and other. What I really love about the 70s/80s CCM is that I can go to local Thrift Stores and pick up near mint copies of their vinyl for anywhere from 50 cents to 2 dollars. There were a lot of artists that I had never heard of that I've discovered and enjoyed because of this availability.

VINYL RULES!

Now are we talking the same Ambrosia that recorded "How Much I Feel?" Wasn't that song about adultery?

Mom2T -> RE: WHO LOVES THE REAL/PURE CHRISTIAN MUSIC THAT STARTED IT ALL....... (4/1/2008 7:43:33 PM)

You left my pesonal favorite Children of the Day off your list. AWESOME music.

Gotta love "Easter Morning" off their Butterfly album. gives a good perspective of what it must have felt like to be there.

Where Else Would I Go from the album of the same name.

Please Say Yes To Jesus...it just is so wistful.

Can I Show You..

For Those Tears I Died...still so true today.

Elaine

I love Keith Green, Larry Norman, 2nd Chapter Of Acts, & Resurrection Band!

Gino Vannelli, that's not the guy with the "If I could fly, I'd lift you up" tune from the 80's is it? That song makes me cringe...

Nope, that is Benny Mardones.

Gino Vanelli:

I Just Wanna Stop
Living Inside Myself
Black Cars
Also the co-writer/producer to David Meece's "All Is God's Creation" as well.

'ARK

I remember seeing the group 'Ark in a big L.A. club on Sunset Blvd, I think they were the opening act for Roger McGuinn of the Byrds. Larry Norman, Keith Green and Steve Taylor turned up to support them. They won the album of the year award sometime in the late 70s from Campus Crusade Magazine-a really cool mag back then. The group was a mix of British and American mainstream musicians. The leader was Scottish singer and guitarist Dave Kelly, who had been signed to the Beatles record company Apple Records in the late 60s and had also shared the same manager as Dan Peek and the group America. The last time I heard anything from him was his solo album 'Crowning of a Simple Man'-Pilgrim/Benson. Oh yeah, and Ark's lead guitarist was pretty famous-his name was Al Perkins, who played with everybody from the Flying Burrito Brothers to Stephen Stills group Mannassas.
