Jason Waldroup Announces Future Plans.
Jason Waldroup, Greater Vision's long-time tenor, has announced his plans to leave the group to pursue a Seminary education, beginning this Fall.

According to Jason..."This is a decision I have been struggling with for more than a year, and the time has come for me to follow what I believe to be God's will for my life. I have delayed this decision because of my love for what I've been privileged to do for the past thirteen years as a part of Greater Vision, and my relationships with Gerald and Rodney. They, along with Chad Baker, our Product Manager, are family to me, and they're my closest friends. That has made this decision that much more difficult."

Gerald Wolfe, manager of Greater Vision, states, "Jason is like a son to me, as well as being one of the closest friends I've ever had. None of us want to see him leave, but we have encouraged him to follow God's leading, no matter what, and leave the consequences to Him."

Rodney Griffin, the group's baritone, stated, "I will certainly miss standing beside Jason every night, but he has my full support as he moves into his next phase of ministry."

Jason will be active in the selection of his replacement and will remain with the group to help train the new group member until his schooling begins in the Fall.

Jason Waldroup joined Greater Vision in 1995. He has been the recipient of numerous Singing News Fan Awards, most recently being named Gospel Music's Favorite Tenor in 2007. He, his wife Missy, and their children, Abbie and Jonathon reside in Morristown, Tennessee.

Further details will be forthcoming in future Email Updates.

Wow, this is a real shocker! Here's just an idea to throw out there: Why not do correspondence seminary??

L5FanLady -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (3/31/2008 4:55:10 PM)

It's always best to follow the Lord's leading.[sm=thumbsup.gif]

Even if it hurts.[:o]

I was thinking that too, but the email says Jason will train the replacement. Pretty sure Chris doesn't need any training! [:D]

So, it may be a totally new guy that no one has heard of. I'm sure he'll be good; GV has always been great at picking top-notch guys when the need arose.

Does Chris know how to drive a Mercedes?[sm=car.gif]

GVfan -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (3/31/2008 5:58:40 PM)

Seems like all the Greater Vision tenors leave to become preachers or go to Seminary!!!!![:D] First, Chris and now Jason!

Of course, I hate to see Jason go, [X(] but I am thrilled that he is following the direction that God leads him. [;)] I wonder if Seminary means preaching, music ministry, missionary......so many options????

It will be interesting to see who is selected to be the new tenor. I'm sure there are LOTS of tenors that would be interested in being with GV.

No, I say, just go for it! Concentrate solely on Seminary, not divide the attention between a career AND seminary. I'm sure Jason's wife and family are supporting Jason in this move.

When the Lord calls then give it your all. Correspondence do not sound like giving your all to me. I agree GVFAN concentrate totally on the calling.

Drip -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (3/31/2008 7:16:21 PM)

seems like Dallas Rogers, former Dixie Echoes tenor, would be a good fit

JodiHosterman -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (3/31/2008 8:14:12 PM)

WOW!! What a surprise. I want to wish Jason and his family the best. He has always been very kind to me and I appreciate that! Greater Vision will definitely not be the same without him. Best of luck and Godspeed my friend!

L5FanLady -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (3/31/2008 8:29:26 PM)

Now I must make a point to see GV with Jason before fall!! I want to meet him!

DJSfromCleveland -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (3/31/2008 8:45:06 PM)

Well, he had a great run with the group, 18 years is a long time these days to stay with one group!

I think it was 13, but that's still a remarkable time.

OOps , your right.

discmaker -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (3/31/2008 10:49:26 PM)

I bet Jason and Missy start singing together some. She's a great singer. Heard her sing w/ The Perrys one time.

Yes, I agree. One of the great pleasures of college and grad school is the stimulus you get from exchanging ideas with your classmates and the professors. I don't know, obviously, but I tend to think that would be even more true of religous study. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

L5Ropeholder -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (3/31/2008 11:50:43 PM)

Totally stunned! At first I thought this was just an April fools trick, and I am still hoping it is!

But like the old song....
Here am I Lord, send me, here am I Lord, send me, I will serve you faithfully, here am I Lord, send me!

pauljackson -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (4/1/2008 12:17:31 AM)

Jason is a great young man. God will no doubt continue to use his life.
Amen, young friend. GV will carry on!

For the first time in my life, I wish I was a tenor.......... [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif][sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]

Seriously, gotta' wish Jason all the best. And I agree that full-time is the optimal way to go to seminary. I tried the correspondence thing, and bogged down halfway through. I may still finish up some day though. Or I may just get a job singing SG somewhere.

HEY! Since Gerald is making a change in personnel anyway, maybe he would consider taking on a middle-aged mediocre bass singer!

zzzzzzzzzzzz

Seaton -> RE: Jason Waldroup Leaving Greater Vision (4/1/2008 7:38:46 AM)

I am not as surprised as the rest of you. I saw this one coming. I wish Jason all the best.

I'd say probably because he is listening to what God wants him to do rather than our feeble suggestions. No disrespect intended but when God says move, you best move or you will hurt yourself and those around you. Jason knows this as does Gerald.

How, pray tell, did you see it coming? Certainly not in a diminished enthusiasm in Jason!
