Lurker I am very happy for you.
I share your joy - I know how happy, excited and joyeous you feel. I was filled too when I attended the Papal Audience at the Vatican.
The gentleman will be on his way to Australia soon for World Youth Day.
Am very excited about that. I too want to hear the voice of thousands say the Lord's Prayer in unison.

I wonder if Jack Hayford, Charles Blake, Willam Shaw, Paul Morton, the Superentendant of the Assemblies of God or even Chuck Smith had gone overseas and gotten news coverage on a national level?
Sure they won't because they are not of a international scale as the Pope.
But all of them are internationally known Christian leaders, the latter two are heads of international denominations.

I was watching the ceremony in St Patrick's Cathedral just a few minutes ago and seriously, the Bishop that was giving the welcome and was specifically addressing the Pope, pretty much paraphrased
this portion of Psalm 139. He was not praying, and again, he was speaking directly to the Pope and said, "Oh, Father"...
1"You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.."
To reiterate, he paraphrased or used the Catholic version but it was easily recognizable and he was not talking to God...he was talking to the man in the pointed hat.
This ex-Catholic was absolutely shocked!

That is one of my favorite scripture passages and I would be distraught if I heard it addressed to anyone other than whom it was written for.

Oh, btw, I saw our beloved Cardinal Mahoney there too. He has some issues w/the Pope regarding immigrants in the church and other issues which the church frowns upon. His views are very, very liberal. I'm watching his "grand enterance" right now and yes, he is getting his close up with all the cameras flashing and all..

I think the big thing is history... Compared to the others the history(sordid as it can be at times) is there, where with the others it’s not even close…

As for your assertion that evidence is needed both myself and mapachito recounted personal experience and as i mentioned i know quite a few people who have left the church because of the hypocritcal stance of "christians". I know for a fact that i would have come back to Church alot sooner if it hadn't been for "christians" who have no problem showing just how uncharitable they can be even to each other. I know a few people who live perfectly moral and charitable lives who refuse to set foot inside a church because of the hypocrisy that is all too evident the way "christians" treat each other much less those who aren't members of their particular church.

Actually, if you look back in this thread, I am not the one who brought up the middle ages. I just asked for proof regarding some of the rediculous allegations that were brought up by others. I also said I would not have wanted to live in Clavin's Geneva.
Maybe I should not have brought it up but I did.
I am glad it's Sunday and this guy is going back to Rome. I have no use for him.

Your post doesn't make any sense. Are you saying that if one has an opinion, that it then doesn't matter what the facts are? There are different levels of opinion. There is the opinion of fantasy, whose only source is the imagination of the individual coming up with the opinion. There are also opinions based on facts. It is certainly reasonable to ask the source of one's opinion. After all, if jbow, came up with the 150 million number off the top of his head, that is useful information. It means that we should discount much of what he says, because he is not good at testing his ideas before putting them forth. On the other hand, if he did some research and came up with the 150 million number, it is certainly reasonable to ask the source of his number.
Since you were the one that suggested that the Catholic Church had 150 million people killed. Can you provide your source for this idea?

You left... You stayed away... The actions of others don't grant you relief... It's wasn't thier fault your left, stayed away or whatever... They are wrong for their actions, but they are not responsible for your actions, or even Ghandis...

They sound rather prideful... And if they don't believe in God they cannot be perfectly moral and their charity is evil in the eyes of God...

Don't forget that he is also a head of state. I work in DC on Penn. Ave and from my office window, I had a clear, unobstructed view of the Pope as he left the White House. My boss, who is Catholic, was very much touched by his visit as was a host others who had gathered there to see him.

:) It was amazing. Hearing 46 thousand people saying the Lord's prayer together was incredible and also hearing "Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ" being joyfully proclaimed in unison with thousands is awe inspiring. Being in the presence of so many people there gathered to worship Christ really is a gift. I look forward even more to growing closer to the Lord Jesus Christ.

I wasn't excited
1. The media way over covered this event.
2. The Pope is a mere man, why worship him, he's not the CHRIST he's just a guy.
3. Laura Ingraham's Pope worship made her show unlistenable last week.
4. I met a man who was molested by a Priest and he's still mad as fire to this day.
5. The Pope is 81 years old, do you think he's in touch with the world?
