I enjoy watching her more than I enjoy watching Martha Stuart. She seems more real and down to earth than me.

I have a limit on how much Rachel Ray i can watch, 1) she doesn't take a breath and 2) you can only take so much delish, and yummo and other cutesy talk. Although her meals seem to be in reach of my cooking ability. I also think she needs to quit working so much but that's her decision since she's an admitted workaholic.

I like her recipes mostly, but I can not stand her voice!!! It grates on my nerves most of the time...so I only watch her occasionally...when I can handle her voice or when the recipe really sounds good.

Yeah, I don't know if she smokes or not. . .but she definitely has the stereotypical "smoker's voice". It grates on my nerves too.

hmmm...now that you mention it, maybe that's it. I just know I don't like her voice...but I like her show...lol. I have been known to turn on the closed captioning just to watch her show...so I didn't have to listen to her....lol

I agree...the most annoying person ever to stand in front of a TV camera! I turn the channel the minute I hear her voice and if I never again hear her say "Yum-O" or "EVOO," I'll be one happy camper.

Oh and Rach, it's a sandwich, not a sammie!!!

I enjoyed her shows in the Food Network when she was mellower- must be the Dunkin Donut coffee and donuts I thought she was very giddy since she giggles a lot- but then dh told me one time that she reminds him of me-- must be the hair or the love to eat part . In regards to her voice, I don't think she has that smoker's voice. There's a Mom in my nephew's school who sounds exactly like her and she does not smoke. She strains her voice a lot because she loves to talk and I'm assuming Racheal does because she does seems to have that kind of personality.

Rachel Ray is annoying and needs to quit working so much and spend more time at home with ther husband. That way she won't wind up in the Enquirer saying that her marriage is on the rocks.

You know, you guys just made me realize why I have never watched a full epsiode, even though I thought I liked her.

Wow, an OP, saying one thing, the other posters disagreeing, and the OP, then agreeing with the others, may be a crosswalk first. And I didn't just do it cause of peer pressure either, you got my brain's wheels a spinning.

P.S. I still think Martha Stuart is condescending, though.

I think Racheal would be more approachable than Martha. I watch both shows once in awhile and Martha...maybe because of her style, for some reason just doesn't seem to be able to relate the way she used to.
I know this is going off topic. A few months ago they had Paula Deen as a guest on Martha's show and they are the actual total opposite on personalities. Paula was sharing that her house is pretty much an open door to her friends and her employees and Martha had almost like this expression

to me Martha Stewart always looks a little tipsy...so I never could stand her much either.

for cooking shows, I like Alton Brown!!!!! He's the man!!!!

Are we still on topic? So what IS the topic anyway?

Oh come on guys! All cooking shows are annoying!

However, as far as cooking tips and menus, etc. I do like Ms. Ray. She uses everyday, buy-at-a-regular-grocery-store foods. And I can soooo appreciate that. 30-minute meals are awesome - I've actually timed myself and yep...30 minutes.

If you like her recipes, etc. but not her voice, she has a new magazine out that is really good. I have one issue and I think I will buy more as I see them.

As I was reading through this thread with the number of comments about her personal life, I was reminded of an old saying :

God has a plan for your life...and so does everybody else.

I like that....(can I steal it for my siggy line? do you know who said it). I personally don't care much for gossip, so I don't know much about her personal life.

I think it's just one of those "Christian sayings" that I have no clue who started.

Use away...

I really like Rachael Ray's show. Her meals are easy. She doesn't use a lot of expensive ingredients and they don't take a lot of time to make. If anything she has peaked my desire to experiment more in cooking and not be afraid of messing things up. I have seen a few of Martha Stewarts shows and the things she make seem too impractical to me.

However, PBS has her everyday show with several cooks and that isn't too bad.

I think my favorite is Americas Test Kitchen on PBS.

Martha probably looked at her like "You let those commoners come into your house? How could you? Oh the humanity.

Rachael Ray is a little annoying but her show's pretty good. My mom actually went to see her at a cooking school once, she really enjoyed it. We use one of the recipes she learned there every year at thanksgiving. :)

Isn't that a bit like saying I like this more than having people drill holes in the back of my head?

On 2nd thought, having holes drilled is better than watching Martha Stewart.
