I used to like Carman a lot too.

His kids music was far better. Precisely b/c it was kids music, not "freak you out" music.

I do have some respect for the man though. I mean, he saved a satanist before he died b/c he watched Witch's Invitation and Revival In The Land while in prison.

Loved Keith Green, but I thought Carman was awesome, too-- small town, early teens-- I didn't know anyone who looked or sounded like him-- all dark and mysterious!!!

Can't beat Champion... loved Prepare to Die

I WAS in the drama club in high school-- my taste for the dramatic is a little more refined these days...

HA HA!!! This is the funniest thread I've read all night!!! Goodness, I was such a little tyke when my Dad got into Carmen... big time. We'd go on car rides and my mom and I would be all over dc Talk, Audio Adrenaline, and Newsboys, but no, Dad HAD to listen to Carmen. Over. and Over. and Over. But I always liked "It's Our Turn Now" (not sure of the title... but that's how the chorus goes).
Many years later I remember going to a church's Wednesday Night kids group and they would blast "Who's In The House?" It was nuts.

LOL...

That is funny.

As in "Who's In The House?" "(insert name here!)"...

LOL. Now that is funny

But he was cool for a very short time in my book, since the first concert I ever went to was a Carman concert.

Addicted to Jesus (partly because of dc talk)
Slam
Our Turn Now (w/ Petra)
Witch's Invitation
Satan Bite the Dust!
Lazarus Come Forth
Who's In The House
Faith Enough
Jesus Period
The Champion

I love alot of his stuff, my dad showed me the world of older music.
We have the Addicted to Jesus video (VHS of course).
I love Carman's music, he could do any style he wanted. (e.g. from A2J and Who's in the house to 1955 and Sunday School rock)

I'm not sure if anyone gets the radio show Total Axxess where they are, but Carman was brought up when someone was making a "Hot List" once, and MAN it was hilarious! The picked "The Champion" and Wally (the host of the show) offered commentary throughout the song, because he couldn't play it without making fun of it... which, honestly... Carman had his place in music... and I did like him when I was a little kid and some of his stuff was still coming out. But wow, hearing some of it now just makes me laugh.

It's just hard to take Carman seriously now.

Now was it a different generation, because I heard only one of two thoughts about that song back in the 80's. It was either "that song sounds satanic" or "wow, what a great song!" once people started paying attention to it! It is one of Carman's better projects and perhaps the best song of the 80's.
