I was looking at the review for the new Dove Bros CD on the sogospelnews website. It made mention of a song called "day in the life od America". I this the same song Monument already cut. They even did a music video of you. It is awesome. I am guessing it is different. Here'a link to the Monument video on their website. Check it out.

The current version of The Dove Brothers is their strongest one yet.

Jerry Martin is my favorite tenor right now.

One of the best things at the Kingsmen's 50th Anniversary Concert was when Martin, Hutson and Tim Surrett joined Ray on those "couple" songs.
The Martin, Hutson, Jonathon, Reese wa one of my favorite vocal line-ups,

I purchased the new Dove Brothers CD "Life" tonight at the church concert! It is absolutely great! I love the lyrics, music, voices, the whole CD is terrific!

Seaton -> RE: Dove brothers new CD (4/14/2008 7:27:44 AM)

I agree. I enjoy how the Dove Brothers have stretched themselves artistically without straying too far from their core sound. Life is one of my favorite recordings of the year so far. I wish other artists would be brave enough to take some chances, instead of recording the same album year after year.

I agree with all! Go Doves!!!

I had pre-ordered the new CD. When I forst got it I was not to thrilled with it. But after listening to it many times now I am inclined to agree with y'all. BTW I am a Dove Brothers fan. They are the only group out there that I have all of the projects for.

Ronnie Milsap recorded it first. See HERE.

He also was the first to record "You Don't Know My Love." The Doves changed the words to "You Don't Know God's Love."

Another cover on Life is "You Can't Fix It," which the Oak Ridge Boys recorded first.

I think the Doves succeeded with the two Milsap tunes in matching or surpassing the originals, but the Oaks were just incredible on "You Can't Fix It." It would have been hard to top that one.

While I like all the songs on "Life" "You Can't Fix IT" is one that I love and sounds just like The Oaks to me, just my humble opinion!

But Eric does, IMO. He's awesome! As much as I am not a fan of the Oaks, I liked this song, but when I heard Eric Dove do it, well, now I love it!
This whole CD is awesome(of course it's my new fav!), even the "reformed" tunes, which I usually am not a big fan of, but didn't mind here, maybe it's cause it's The Doves, hehe. Anyway, McCray has some awesome songs on this album, too - as well as a great Matt Rankin (Soul'd Out Quartet) tune.

Just love what you had to say LissaJo!!!! Wish you could have heard them sing these last night!!!!

That reformed song is my favorite cut on the CD.

youngartist -> RE: Dove brothers new CD (4/15/2008 11:36:16 AM)

That's "Give It To The Lord," right?

dbmurray -> RE: Dove brothers new CD (4/15/2008 7:32:12 PM)

No, I was speaking of "You Don't Know God's Love," which was originally titled "You Don't Know My Love" when Ronnie Milsap sang it.

Fortunately, the writers/publishers allowed the DBQ to sing the modified version.

youngartist -> RE: Dove brothers new CD (4/15/2008 7:46:59 PM)

Oh, sorry, I was referring to the Matt Rankin tune. [;)]

LissaJo -> RE: Dove brothers new CD (4/15/2008 9:34:08 PM)

yes, the matt rankin tune is "Give It To The Lord"
DBM, that's my one of my favs on the CD, too.. I didn't mean that I didn't like the reformed tunes. I usually don't, but I do theirs!

One of my favs on the Life CD is penned by McCray, "You would think he would learn" is beautiful. Once I read the inside info about the CD it really meant even more to me and is properly titled. I believe it could help a lot of people with issues and Life in general today. "We can't fix it" just "Give it to the Lord"! God bless!

LissaJo -> RE: Dove brothers new CD (4/16/2008 10:19:10 PM)

Which concert were you referring to earlier of theirs, that you wish I could have been at? I was at their concert this past Saturday, in Thomasville, NC :-) It was AWESOME as usual

LissaJo I was referring to the Supply NC concert at Mt. Pisgah Baptist church. It was a fund raiser for a 10 year old boy who has leukemia.
