I've never grilled a steak in a pan...always the BBQ.

If I had to use a pan, I'd use cast iron.

Pans, I don't know. Big Green Egg...you will never find anything that cooks a better steak.

I like both ways Pan frying I like to use teriyaki sauce for a marinade before I put in the pan. As for BBQ it is the only thing I am able to BBQ right but I do not marinade I mix BBQ sauce and salsa together. I am pretty well known for my steaks but in germany I could not get the good steaks so I did not do to much steak while I was there, anyways that is the way I like to cook steak

Pan frying steak is an abomination unto the Lord. It's in Deuteronomy or Leviticus somewhere, I'm sure.

What's a grill pan? We have a gas grill and dh would probably refuse to eat a steak that was pan fried. I think he'd rather have chicken- and that's saying a lot. [;)]

If you have to do steak indoors, I have 3 words for you:

George Foreman Grill

I highly recommend it! (Add a little smoke flavor and it almost makes up for being indoors.)

Rich do you mean the pan that you use on the stove that has grill slots on it? So it elevates off the bottom of pan and you get the nice lines?

I had one and loved it for chicken and steak.

My mom uses a regular cast iron, no grill slots and no elevation and the steaks aren't the same.

MM I want steak now. thanks. [:D]
