I thought I'd start up a little thread here so people can talk about their favorite songs.

For me Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt is an amazing piece of work. It speaks volumes about Cash's life and I sincerely doubt that any other country artist could have pulled it off, with the noted exception of Hank Williams Sr if he were still alive.

Dobie Grey's Drift Away is another great one. It's always been a song of comfort for me and one that's helped lift my spirit when I'm down.

Johnny Lang's cover of Edgar Winter's Dying to Live must be heard to understand just how powerful a song it is. It's another one that helps lift my spirits when I'm feeling down on myself.

What Johnny Lang album is that on? I love that song - it was the first Edgar Winter song I learned to play on the piano, so it's special to me for a lot of reasons. I'd love to hear Johnny Lang sing it.

It's on the Long Time Coming album. Interesting side note is that Johnny Lang is a devout Christian.

I would love to participate but there are far too many songs that I love out there. I wouldn't even know where to start. [;)][:D]

I think "favorite song" is just too broad for me to pick one song. Like someone else wrote, it may change on a daily basis, maybe depending on what mood I am in or what I need to hear (or sing) that day. One of my favorites is "The Victor" sung by Keith Green. Another is "He Lives" (an old hymn). I guess I like songs about Jesus' resurrection! But I like a lot of "secular" songs too.

My fav pop song is Unwritten by Natasha Beddingfield.

That is a good "alternative" song.

Generally, I have favorite songs by certain bands... like my favorite Relient K song is Be My Escape, my favorite eleventyseven song is Unicorn Revolt, and my favorite Superchic[k] song is Stand in the Rain. (If that makes any sense...) But right now I'm really into Leeland. I love Sound of Melodies and Tears of the Saints.
