song -> What To Expect (4/11/2008 1:20:33 AM)

So... for the past year I've been in full time ministry.

Before that I worked and lived with my parents and before that I went to Bible college.

Now, I'm considering, pretty much for sure, going to a state school to puruse a degree in elementary education.

What are any and all things I can expect (good and bad) going to a secular school and being part of the college scene?

I am currently getting my bachelors in elementary education at a public university. My program is focused on urban education. This means I will be teaching in an "inner city" school upon graduation.

What you will encounter depends on the school you go to and that school's education program.

I lived on campus for my first year and a half. Most of the students I encountered while living in the dorms were self-centered and not respectful of the students around them. Now this is not always the case. I have met some really great people. I would definitely suggest getting involved with a Christian organization on campus. It's a great way to meet people who love Jesus.

I've met people who were not motivated and those that were. You really get a large variety of people. And it is very easy to get caught up in all of the things that are offered.

Every school is different. Some secular schools have very active Christian groups on campus, some don't. The best way to find out is to visit the campus and ask questions of the students you meet there.
