ORIGINAL: gengwall Update - the motion hearing order has finally been posted. The motion, which was granted, was to allow the teachers union to intervene in the case. The plaintiff's achilles heel here was their own plea for relief: quote:
As noted above, the injunctive relief sought is specifically targeted not just to Corbett, but to all “Defendants, their agents, servants, employees, officials, or any other person acting in concert with them.” (FAC, p. 11.) This indisputably involves other teachers as affected employees within the District, and therefore involves the Unions’ members. - source: Motion Hearing Minutes page 4 So much for just being between the student and the one teacher. I think this is getting way out of hand. Wait 'til this kid gets to college if he thinks he's heard anti-Christian remarks. He better go to law school. It'll save him loads on lawyers! Or maybe he can turn the other cheek and rejoice for being persecuted for Jesus' sake. In other words, get over it! There are millions of people in the world that anti-God or anti-Christian. It's their own choice if they don't want to see both sides of the coin. This can only happen in the OC. Maybe this can be covered in the TV show. It's already got a drama queen. Although I agree he will be subject to much greater "freedom of thought" in college, that distinction is exactly what needs to be highlighted. High school students are a far more captive audience than college students and their teachers carry greater authority. This case would never proceed if it were a college student, but must proceed since it is a high school student.
