dagmarharris -> Pray for Steve...his time clock... (4/12/2008 12:00:45 PM)

Living with my friend Steve is hard for me.
He is on a "different time clock" than me.
He stays up late, cooks late, and drinks beer.
It is driving me nuts, and I ask he would take me seriously to get his act together. He needs to get home on time, eat early, and retire to bed with a good book,
I ask Jesus you would help him to find this respectful Balance...
YOU alone are the one to do it,,,
Help him to reach out to you for a healing in his life,
IN Jesus Name, amen

Dear Father, asking that You would draw Steve to Yourself. That You would provide peaceful living conditions for dagmarharris, even if that means moving. Asking for Your blessings and help Lord. In Jesus name. Amen

I pray you give Dagmar the ability to set up appropriate boundaries with Steve.

thanks for the prayers. and regarding me moving,,,nope.
I own my condo, and he is renting a room.
He had a fire in his own Apt., back in late Nov. It will be hard for him to find a place, as he was asked to leave after the fire. The house was not taken care of properly.
So, that is my situation...
Pray that Steve would stop drinking--- as that is what he so deseperately needs to do. But Alcoholism is a hard one if you don't want to get help.
He is not at a place to do so...he doesn't want to...

I am praying for you..I worry that his problems are spilling over to you because you are stressed out due to his own situation..You may really need to put your foot down and ask
him to leave. I mean is he just a friend to you or more or a relative?
I just know that peoples problems seem to spill over or rub off on to other people and I
know for me, I can not let that happen...I mean I am there for my friends and family
no doubt about it, but when its a problem like this or something that can damage someone
else, I stay away. I dont want their drama or bad stuff rubbing off into my life....
I just don't want to see you stressed out or getting hurt from someone elses problems...

i am praying for you!!

HI Dagmar, I understand how hard this is for you, having someone with a different lifestyle living with you suddenly.

But this is important: cooking late, staying up late, and drinking beer are not sins. It is just not what you are used to. (Drinking to excess is a sin, of course.)

I know you have said he has a problem with alcoholism, and certainly boundaries must be put in place there, as he is living in your home, and as you said yourself, you can't MAKE an alcoholic want to stop being an alcoholic.

But the other things are his business. Going to bed with a book is not everyone's lifestyle or wish.

Father God, please help Dagmar know what to make a fuss about and what not. Please give her wisdom about how to place healthy boundaries in her home and in this situation. Please help her as she adjusts to someone being there who doesn't have a daily routine the same as hers. Please help Steve to also be considerate of Dagmar when she has kindly allowed him to live in her home. We ask You to resolve this living situation for the best for all concerned, in Jesus' Name.
Amen.

Lord, I pray that you would use "dagmarharris" to reach his roommate for you. Lord, give him wisdom and understanding. Use him Lord,

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

Our Heavenly Father,
We lift this couple up to you Lord and ask that You touch each one and show your wondrous acts.
We ask that you remove negative actions and replace with what Your will is for this couple.
We give You ALL the praise, honor and glory for everything you do Lord.
We ask this in Jesus Name, Amen.

Thank you, all. Steve is a friend, from way back, kind of like a brother now. We are in our early 50's and known each other since we were 25 years old. (I took him in because he had an Apt. fire, and lost stuff...and the place he was living. He does pay me rent for a room in my condo.)
We are not in a romantic relationship, at all. He is like family, but I know that on the weekends he drinks, and it is not good for his health, and me, well, it is stressful waking up hearing him eating so late.---a snack heated up in the microwave at 1:00am, is not okay with me. It wakes me up!
But, last night I did put my foot down, and told him to go to bed, as I had said no eating after 11:00pm. It was later, and I simply put his dinner in the refrigerator. It was after midnight, and he has been eating then, on weekends. I have set up rules and am going to enforce them....
I know God is the one who needs to heal him of the drinking habit, mostly because it is interfering with him living a healthy life.
He is looking for his own place, to rent, but nothing has come up in his price range. We live in a very expensive town.
So, Pray for Steve to drink less....and find a loving God who will help him.
I know Jesus can, and there are plenty of people who are now in sobriety, who were way worse than Steve....
IN Jesus Name, amen

This is my prayer, too.

Father,
Please resolve each issue in such ways that You will be glorified.
