Good morning!

Barb each holiday and occation will be a challenge. But once you pass each one you will see the pain being replaced with hope and good memories. The L~rd will see you through each one.

Ginny I'll answer your Passover question on your personal site so it won't take up space here.

Leah I'll continue to pray for your SIL and BIL.

I would love that recipe for the pasta Barb!

Just talked to my Rabitzen (Rabbi's wife) this morning and we now have about 250 coming to the Passover Seder which means I have to go out and get another pan and more eggs. I think I am going to make one of the cakes today and see how it turns out.

Leah,
When hubby went through the harvesting of his bone marrow and the super duper chemo he was told only 50% of the people survive and they were right half of the people with him died. Dave was one of the lucky ones. Maybe they want to do it now because he is healhier now and it will take a lot out of him and have a better chance of survival and killing off the cancer. I will pray.

Thanks Marsha. I will be looking forward to your answer.

I am sick. My inners hurt like they did after my surgery and my back hurts and I am struggling with fatigue. It would be nice to take a day off work but there is just too much to do.

Well, I need to take off tonight is my youngest grandson's birthday party and I need to get over to my daughter's house. At least I am not cooking the meal tonight.

Ginny

Thanks for all your prayers, guys . . I knew I could count on you all to do this.

Ginny, I'm so glad you posted that about your husband . . I didn't realize he'd gone thru that. Was that for multiple myeloma or another kind of cancer?

Yes, the doctor told them they wanted to harvest the bone marrow while Jim was still feeling well and healthy -- I am given to understand that will not be the case after he is on chemo for a while as that will break down the immune system. However, he had said they would freeze the bone marrow then wait to return it back to his body -- wait until his body is no longer responding well to the oral chemo -- maybe 5 years down the road. Right now he is responding well. But Medicare won't allow them to wait. They want it finished right away. So, basically, he will be forced to have this procedure now which he doesn't need yet, or not have it at all. They have an appointment to get it done in 8 weeks, so they have that time to decide whether to go thru with it, or to just take their chances with the oral chemo he's on now. It's a big decision for them. He is doing well right now, and they were told, as you said, that the treatment itself will initially make him very, very sick.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well, Ginny. Great that you had the evening off -- you deserve it! Hope the birthday party went well.

Hi Dee!

Hey Barb, that recipe does sound good . . maybe I'll try it too.

Marsha, meant to tell you early this morning that I have 2 nice big sheet cake pans you can borrow! The biggest one is about a 30"x30", so would make a lot of cake . . . I got them when our daughter got married, tho they were to set the ice sculpture in, not the cake that sounds like quite a gathering -- lots of God and lots of food and lots of fun . . . I hope it all goes well for you.

I got all my sewing orders finished today. Garrett left at 11:30 this morning, so I had all afternoon to work on them, and work I did! Over $200 worth of sewing, and I'll be glad to get that money too . . . I was trying hard to get them done czu I need to go to St Louis tomorrow to pick up the flooring from our daughter's. I've got 2 weeks to get the room ready, so I'll come back home tomorrow evening or Friday so I can get started on that.

Good Thur. Morning Everyone

Dee, yes the guys ate the meal...Cody said the chicken was good. LOL
Hubby just ate it w/o saying anything. I cheated on it tho. Insted of cutting the carrots and garlic I used the frozen veggies. It had everything I needed in one bag. I liked it tho. But I seem to have alot of pasta left over. So next time I make it I will cut that down some.

Leah, thats GREAT you got the sewing done. Bet that extra cash will come in handy. I have to wash my neighbors walls tomorrow. She has them high ceilings. It won't be fun, but I need the extra cash also.
I don't have any daycare kids tomorrow, so it's a good day to do it.
Hope my arm can take it.

Yesterday was a wonderful. warm, spring day. We got into the 70's. Sat outside untill dusk even. And I got to leave my bedroom windows open all night. Not today, we get a cold front moveing in. Turning cloudy, with rain, and 56 degree's only. Have to wait till Sunday when we get up to 66 degree's again.
What a tease huh?

That's interesting about the bone marrow Leah, but very fustrating about Medicare's stipulations about when to do stuff.

Barb, I'm glad you got a taste of spring! It was nice and warm and sunny here yesterday, but rainy and cooler again today.

R just asked me why the branches weren't pretty today. I finally figured out that she was talking about when they were pretty after the ice storm. That was four months ago; I thought she was comparing them to yesterday. Silly me.

Yesterday my daughter had a dr appt after school 30 min. west of here. She had a school field trip 1.5 miles east of here. But they were scheduled to be back by 3 so that'd work. Except that the bus overheated on the way home. Thankfully they were in the next town east of us already, so they let her call me and I picked her up and we just made it. A group of girls from school went to visit a women's prison. It was very interesting to her.

Good Afternoon everyone!

Our weather is in a yoyo cycle too. Today it is suppose to be 80 and tomorrow back to the high 60s. Short sleeve, long sleeve. short sleeve... heater, air conditioner...

Wow Dee - a women's prison. What was the field trip there for?

Well I made my first cake. Made a mess in the kitchen (which is really small). I have no idea how it tastes and won't because we aren't cutting them until the dinner on Saturday and I can't have sugar anyway. It came out over the edges a bit but other than that it looks OK. I may trim the overtheedge stuff since they will be cut into small squares and fruit can be put over the piece of cake if desired.
My daughter made Les this wonderful castle cake yesterday for his birthday. I'll put up a picture as soon as I download it to the computer
.

Can't wait to see the picture Marsha. And good news about getting one cake done.

Leah, did you get all that sewing done?

I took off an hour early from work to make up for all the time I worked over this week. Didn't want to do it tomorrow because my work study needs her time and today faculty are there so it wouldn't effect their scheduled time plus they can answer the phones while I am gone.

No one is home. Yeh! Peace and quiet. I need some down time and am enjoying the quiet.

Ginny

Hi all!

Yes, Ginny, I got caught up on all the sewing . . . now when they pick them up, I'll have them all cleared out -- until some more come in, that is, probably early next week. I'm so glad you got to go home to an empty house and enjoy some down time - you deserved it!

I'm up at Melissa's. We've had a very nice day together, finished off by going to a special program at the girls' school wherein they read from their 'published works' . . Yep, even of htem has had a book published, or printed, with their stories in it, and their name as author!! It was pretty cool . . after that we all went out for pizza and just got home. I'm tired!

The flooring is all loaded in my car, tho, so when I get up & get dressed in the morning, I will head for home.

Marsha, hope the other cakes turn out well for you.

Dee, that was a close call with your daughter . . glad she made it on time.

Barb, did you get the walls washed for your neighbor . . are you still able to move??? I woudln't be, I'm sure. Sheesh!

Lost my post when I restarted Firefox.

Sounds like a nice day Leah!

Ginny, I stay up way to late getting my down time. I'm glad you got some.

Marsha, it sounds like the cake turned out well!

The weather here is doing a lot of yoyo-ing too.

The prison visit was for sociology class. The guys went to a men's prison. I think that was a good plan. They had a panel of prisoners, and all the women talked about men contributing to their downfall. Good stuff for the girls to hear. My daughter is now interested in criminal justice, she found it very interesting.

Good Friday morning, everyone.

I'll be leaving Melissa's here in a little while. It's been a short, but good visit. I think I'll stop and do a little shopping on the way home.

We all got a bit of a shake-up around 4:30 this morning when an earthquake centered in eastern Illinois was felt pretty powerfully right here in St Louis. As a matter of fact, Maggie & I were chatting when it happened and I couldn't figure out what was going on, even checked outside to see if strong winds were blowing, but the leaves on the trees weren't even moving. Then when I got back up this morning around 7:00 I checked the news and sure enough, there'd been an earthquake. This big house really did some shuddering, and it went on for several seconds. Plum spooky!

Dee, sounds like a bit of an eye-opener for your daughter. I hope she can pursue the field she's interested in.

Anyway, started typing this earlier, was interrupted, and now I'm finally finishing . . . have a good day, everyone.

Good Friday Morning Everyone

Yes Leah, I guess the earthquake was felt around Wisconsin also. It did'ent wake me up, but Cody said something woke him up in the wee hours. Weird huh?
Glad you enjoyed your visit and got your flooring. Drive safe going home.
Oh, to answer your question..I start my neighbors walls in about an hour. I think it will take me all day just to get her liveingroom done.

Dee, what a great learning experence for your daughter and the class!

Ginny, down time and haveing the whole house to yourself is wonderful. Glad you got to enjoy it.

Marsha, glad to hear one cake is compleated.

Good morning!

Glad everyone is OK!
My Yahoo news told of the earthquake and I thought of y'all there in the Midwest. I thought only us crazy Californians were suppose to get the earthquakes??!! You get the tornados and we get the earthquakes. But we get small tornados now too. Spooky huh?!

Well one cake done two to go. I'm on my way to do damage in the kitchen... look out.

Have a great day everybody.

I am finished!! Three cakes ready to go.
Actually they aren't hard to make. Time consuming but not hard. Les was helping me clean the batter bowls and said it tasted good. I made 2 lemon and one orange spice.
The test will be if I'm asked to make some next Passover!!
Now I think I will try to find a recipe for sugar free Passover sponge.

Earthquake? I didn't know about it until I heard it on the news. My neighbor said he felt it.

There's a turkey in the frig that I've been defrosting for 4 days and its going into the oven to roast this morning. Have a cherry pie for desert. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and corn will be the rest of the meal. Wonder if I have any biscuits. Maybe I'll make yeast rolls.

Good news on getting the cake done Marsha.

Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you Leah.

Dee, you stay up late for down time? Is that so you finally have time to yourself and some quiet to think?

In my family getting up at 5:00 am is usually what I do for my quiet time. Then I get annoyed if hubby gets up and turns on the TV that early in the morning because I've come to enjoy my time of quiet without distractions.

Ginny

Good Morning Everyone!
Chag Pesach Semaech Happy Passover Festival)

I had a wonderful Seder yesterday. We had so much fun.
A Seder dinner consists of the retelling of the flight out of Egypt of the Hebrews. We use a Hagadah which means The Telling and it is sections of readings and rememberings using food (parsley, horseradish, matzah, a mixture of apples, honey, nuts and wine). Half way thru we have our dinner which consisted of beef brisket, potato kugal, carrots and yams and chopped liver. Then after the dinner we do the remainder of the service which for Jews who believe in the Messiah consistes of communion.
We had lots of dancing and since we had to pack 250 people in the hall had to weave thru the tables. It got tricky at times but was so fun. I'll see if my pics came out and put a few up.
We had so much food left over and I brought home a whole tray of matzah balls. Anyone want a bag of matzah balls??
After a few days of preparation, today is a lay back do nothing day. Ahhhhhh!
Oh BTW the cakes turned out great. I took a small bite of the lemon and one of the spice and they tasted really good. Imagine that!!

Not sure I want a matzah ball. What do they taste like?
Cool that the cakes tasted good.

I baked a batch of Russian Tea Cakes, a butter nut cookie. I am officially on the cookie ministry baking cookies for first time visitors. Guess on Sunday afternoons I'll be baking cookies and hubby will enjoy the dozen or so I don't have to send.

Got the bathroom cleaned and working on all the laundry that has accumulated. Was going to vacuum the dining room next and dust the fan blades then work on the kitchen but have decided to take a nap and rest. I was really tired at work all week last week when I had spent the weekend doing housework. Got to have time for rest.

Well tomorrow I go to court once again.

Ginny

Matzah balls taste like dumplings. They are made with matzah meal. eggs, veg oil and a little water or chicken broth. When you throw them in a pot of chicken soup - ummmmm ummmm good.

Ginny I will pray for you.

Here are a few pictures of the Seder.

Me neither . . I did eat tho

It's been a gorgeous day here in Missouri . . . upper 70s. We got some inside and outside work done this weekend. Not much, but enough that I don't feel plum lazy

Ginny, will be praying . . keep us updated.

Marsha, so glad to hear your Seder went well. Those are some beautiful granddaughers you have there --- and yeah, the little one sure looked plum tuckered out.

Denny, you sure do make yourself scarce around these parts -- good to see your smiling face

Thank you!

Les was telling me last night as he was helping DD and SIL to the car with the kids, the older one (she's 5) passed one of the teen girls who had a beautiful dress on and said, "nice dress". The teen responded with a thank you as if Hope was another teen. She is 5 going on 13!

Marsha, are all the people in the picture Jewish Christians?

And I agree with Leah, someone looks plum tuckered out.

Thanks for the prayers. I am blessed.
