robertyork -> MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 4:49:09 PM)
Home page shows that the May Singing News is now on line. I have tried several times and haven't been able to get it.
robertyork -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 4:50:31 PM)
They have taken it off now. Must be having some problems with it. Inspirations was on the Cover.
Mrmusicfan -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 6:00:14 PM)
Well it's up now! I was glad to see JK Stuffle featured on Danny's son's page.I liked the At Home feature with the Crabb twins...really creative! I didn't take the time to read the conversations thing w/Paul Heil, but it looked good. Finally...Roy Pauley will no longer have an opinion!!! Yeah!!! He's starting something like a quartet history article. BTW-Larry Ford's International feature is really awesome!! SN (in magazine format) is going up to 25 bucks a year instead of 20. I'm not that surprised with the rate of SN going up. It's been anticipated for a while...and won't make me stop gettin' mine! After reading the looking ahead thing on the Fridge Door,I was wondering who it could possibly be.I've made my guess and I REALLY hope it comes true!!! What are some of y'all's guesses as to who it may be?
robertyork -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 6:04:28 PM)
I just tried and I am getting a file damaged report.
Mrmusicfan -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 7:37:52 PM)
Well, with the subscription rates going up,I might switch to the online kind.....now that they have the Fan Awards ballot online too!
DJSfromCleveland -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 8:20:39 PM)
I wonder if we would subscibe now to the magazine form , for either 1, 2, or 3 years, would we get it for the $20.. subscription rate locked in?
robertyork -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 8:32:13 PM)
I'm sure they will honor the $20.00 rate per year if you subscribe before the date for it to increase.
I still can't get my internet copy of the May issue. Have you tried? Can anyone get it?
brian.franklin -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 8:38:54 PM)
You may need to clear the cache on your web browser. Some browsers do funny things, especially if you visited that page when we apparently had a "glitch" in the upload of the PDF file. The file was re-uploaded earlier around 7pm EST. I just clicked on the link and the file downloaded just fine. Give us a shout if you are still experiencing difficulties in downloading the May issue.
Thanks!
Brian
Karen_clown -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 10:22:38 PM)
I am also getting a damage file notice when I try to download the May issue.
DJSfromCleveland -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 10:58:15 PM)
I think i like to wait till my magazine comes in the mail. If i look at it online, it will ruin it for me![:D][:)][;)]
brian.franklin -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/15/2008 11:06:35 PM)
Apparenlty some people are getting a "damaged file" error when attempting to download the May issue of Singing News in PDF format. However there are others who can download and view the entire magazine just fine. As soon as possible we will see what has transpired and hopefully get to the bottom of this issue. It doesn't appear to be platform specific, as both Mac & Windows users have had issues as well as both have been able to download the file without any problems.
Please be patient and bear with us as we investigate, and hopefully the issue will be resolved sooner than later.
Thanks in advance for your understanding.
Brian

Hiya Brian! Good to see you here. [;)] I saw the issue with no problem, and I have PC problems with Everything. LOL. BTW, I AM locked into $20 at least for 3 more years. I would suggest if you want the magazine for the $20 to go ahead and do your 3 year subscription now.
TheNashvilleMan -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/19/2008 3:28:09 AM)
I LOVED The Crabb feature! So glad that SN is featuring MORE PHOTOS!! WooHoo - PTL! I think this is one of the BEST issues so far!!!!

Where did you hear that the mail rates are going up? Somehow I missed that.[&:]

I heard it at the Post Office. I believe they go up in mid-May (around the 16th, maybe?)
It's hardly news anymore, since the rates go up nearly every year.
robertyork -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/19/2008 7:47:14 AM)
Letters & postcards are going up a penny. Not sure what is happening to bulk rate, and 2nd class postage. SN has been talking three or four years about going up on the subscription. Guess they have made the decission final now. I believe, as Daniel, the date is May 16. You can run down to the PO and buy the forever stamp for 41 cents and use it anytime. Haven't heard if they are going to continue the forever stamp (which would be 42 c after May or not).
danielmount -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/19/2008 9:10:51 AM)
I think the Forever stamp would still be available. (Wouldn't it be ironic if the Forever stamp only lasted through one price change?)
robertyork -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/19/2008 9:16:26 AM)
I saw the other day where American Idol in conjunction with the USPS will issue a postage stamp with their artist on it. The face value of the stamp will be $8.40 for 20 stamps. You'll be able to purchase the sheet of 20 stamps with your favorite idol on it for $19.99. Proceeds were to benefit and AI chairity. You can mail your letters with it.
added: Postage rate to increase May 12. USPS printed 5 billion forever stamps to meet demand of people buying before the price increase.

Kinda pales in comparison to rising gas prices, doesn't it!!![sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]

For $25.00 you get both internet and hard copy. $15.00 will only get internet rate. How long will you be able to keep the internet copy? Can you go back five years from now and look at it? You don't get a free CD with the internet rate.

Bobby,
The online version is a PDF file. You can save it to your hard drive, put it on a thumb drive or burn it onto a CD.......either way, it's permanent.
L5FanLady -> RE: MAY SINGING NEWS ON LINE (4/19/2008 1:30:52 PM)
Yes, what JimC said. I ain't no brain but I know that that is right![:)]
P.S. I am suprised that they could do $20/yr for as long as they have, seeing how prices naturally rise!
