I'm not going to vote for him but I will never understand why so many people on this board feel the need to vilify Obama so. If you support McCain, then tell us what is and what's good about his policies. I recall anti-Romney posts, but not posts that used such negative words about him or Guiliani or Edwards. But Obama evokes that? If you disagree with aforementioned people's policies, fine. But what's the difference with Obama? Not that he's pro-choice - others were. Not that his world view is not consistent with a Christian world view because other's didn't. What's the difference?

I'm 50 years old. In my lifetime, there won't be a black person or an African-American or a Negro or a colored person elected president. There will always be something wrong.

No Julius, I did not realize that about Colin Powell, I will look into it. The deal is I can see why you want Obama, and I do not blame you, so would I, if my child was stationed in the Middle East. Your a good father it seems, and love your children very much. So no comdenation for your views from me. Hope this does not offend you, not mt intention.

Sowell and Steele aren't qualified based on experience. I've already talked about Rice. Watts is a possibility, but he's too low key. Keyes? He's run twice that I know of, was declared the winner of every debate he participated in, but in the end, was declared "unelectable."

Why would Sowell and Steele not be qualified, compared to our current crop of candidates? Sowell is brighter than any of the candidates running, probably any that have run in recent memory. Plus he has a PhD in economics - heavens knows we could use that talent right about now.

Ok.....I'll be the first to be hit...

I don't like O'Bama.
He is too cheesy. Too showy for "my taste" .

And he "used to be a, used to be a, used to be, but STILL is a, still is a, is a, is a;
"FILL IN THE BLANK" man of God.

My 13 yo today was watching the news and gravely asked me "what do you think of O'Baba?"

I just smiled and told him that whoever gets the office, may God bless them!

In any case, this is my family.
My 84 yo mother constantly shouts at the tele; "You guys need to find that Old Ben Logan!!"

Oh.....yes we do....

Another thread about the color of the person's skin. What a waste. I don't see ANY about Hilary being a woman threads. Some folks WILL NOT vote for a woman to be president.

The TRUTH is there are very few people in "this country" who won't vote for Obama because he is not
100% Black
100% White
A woman
A christian
Raised in a certain part of the country

and the list goes on and one.

I cannot stand the man because of his religious beliefs. He is a racist pure and simple.

If McCain had been a member of the KKK for 20 years, made the Klan leader his spiritural mentor, named a book after one of the klan leaders sermons and raised his children in that klan I would NOT vote for him either.

IF he tried to "tell me" not to "judge him" over this I would laugh in his face.

I think some people just "wish" this was about race. The truth is MOST of us on THIS forum see his religious beliefs as nothing more than racist propaganda. That very 'faith' he says effects his morals, values and worldview.

I don't think anyone thinks this is about race. We all know this is about politics.

Obama has the potential to undo most of the damage Reagan did, and conservatives on these forums are running scared. They're trying to figure out how to nitpick his church, how to claim he's a Marxist, and plenty of other stuff. Ultimately, some people can't imagine a Christian who could live with legalized abortion. Others think any president who wants to raise their taxes is a Marxist. Still others can't stand any tinge of liberal elitism.

Meanwhile, they're completely ignoring the important stuff like the federal budget deficit and the $260 Billion in debt service payments our country makes every year.

The US needs to end the Iraq war and allow the Bush tax cuts to expire in order to fix the budget deficit, and the only person who can do this is a Democrat.

A Walter Williams/ Thomas Sowell ticket(or Sowell/Willams, it matters not which, to me) would be a landslide victory.

Michael Steele (who had his character assinated by the lefties) would be another.

Good call, Ben! It sure ain't like it was under Ronnie. Obama ranks up there with suicide on my support list.

In MY opinion, the best president of MY lifetime (65+ years) was Ronald Reagan!! Why on earth would I want to vote for anyone who "has the potential to undo most of" what he was able to do [accomplish for good & rightness]?

If budgets didn't exist, he would have been a great president. His tax cuts doubled the national debt from roughly $1 Trillion to $2 Trillion in about five years.

If the [taxers & spenders] of Congress had not attached all their Pork Pork Pork in order to pass anything of important --- the national debt would not have reached anywhere near that --- if it would have raised at all.

Don't those decisions have to be approved by Congress?

I think the difference is front-runner status. Indeed, that needs to be pointed out - the man is the front runner in the Democrat party for President of the US, arguably the most powerful position in the world today. There are only two candidates (well, 1 1/2) between him and that office. And once he gets there, the election will mean nothing, because the difficulties he could face will be so far greater than anything Hillary or a few radio pundits can throw at him; and the potential for disaster so high that we can actually watch it age men in office in a few short years.

So if Obama and his supporters are so thin skinned that they can't take the rough and tumble of a Presidential election that has occurred since the office existed, then he and they should just get out of the way and let someone serious run for office, because we don't have the luxury of electing a whiny, Ivy-league educated snob who thinks our country owes him the Presidency.

Ironically, Democrats cut down on this practice when they took over from Republicans in 2006. Incidentally, the budget deficit decreased.

These days, we can only choose between tax-and-spend Democrats and borrow-and-spend Republicans. Personally, I'd rather have Congress tax-and-spend than borrow and spend.

Personally, I would rather we threw both out and elected people who consistently spent within their means; and if Congress can't do it, they should give the President the power to trim the excess.
