For me it would be Denny Correll. I went to one of his concerts not long after I was saved and felt the Holy Spirit's presence on me for the first time! I also listened to a lot of his music during that time as well.

I should also ask is why this artist had such an influence on you as well.

Audio Adrenaline, dc Talk, Pax 217, and Relient K

dcTalk.

They got me interested in music. Their lyrics were amazingly inspirational. In just a few words, I grew up with dcTalk. I now plan on trying to make music of my own.

Phil Keaggy.

Dude is THE guitar hero.

Keith Green - his concerts were phenomenal!

Rich Mullins - the spirit was so thick in his presence!

Leslie Phillips - her song, Strength of My Life really carried me through a divorce that blindsided me.

Now, it's Jars of Clay, Chris Tomlin, Tree 63, Nicole Nordeman and Third Day

I used to love that song by Leslie Phillips! Some of my personal favorites are "Answers Don't Come Easy", "God Is Watching You" and "Heart of Hearts."

Blindside would be my biggest influence for Christian music. I have a lot more secular influences, I guess.

can you tell?

Hi, everyone. I've just joined here today, and I like it already. Almost as much as SoundPost..ha!

Seriously, it's BarlowGirl. Once upon a time, Alyssa, Lauren and Becca were my fave band, but I just wasn't "feeling" them that much...How Can We Be Silent came out last year and I didn't even know it until I hit iTunes July 24!

Suddenly this year, they're everything to me when it comes to music. I gave up the iconic Christina Aguilera as my favorite artist. Imagine...from 37 million worldwide album sales and five Grammys to no Doves yet. But I LOVE IT!! I love the Ladies. They actually saved my life with songs such as "I Believe in Love." They have become a pipeline to the Lord's love for me. Not that I shouldn't know that God loves us, but when I see how He put the Barlows before me, and how beautiful and talented they are, I am sure He is indeed awesome.

On February 6 (ASH WED.), I had a bad familial conflict (yes, I still live with my folks). Next night, I boarded an Orlando-bound Greyhound bus. So, more than 15 hours, 360 miles and a bus change later, I was in Jacksonville. Having already seen the Ladies at my alma mater, THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI ("The U"), I got another life-affirming dose of what I call "Barlation"...seeing them light up that stage, hanging with them at their Signing Line, getting my pic taken w/them. You can see the pic at my MySpace page.

True, there will be struggles to come. But it's nice to know God put BarlowGirl in this world to transform those of us who need a little extra help. May they keep rockin' on and win that first Dove Wednesday.

I most deffinitely have to agree with "Barlow Guy" ...
Barlow Girl has probably been the most influential in my life... Im 17 and i went down a tuff road of life.. I started some really regretful things.. back in 8th grade is when i started drinking, and something that was called cutting, which lead to something called bulimia/anorexia. I was on a path of pretty much self destruction.. i was a christian .. and i knew who this "God" character was but what was said about him was never applied to my heart.. and then one day i was diagnosed with Myclonic Epilepsy.. I was like just great another reason not to just be here.. but then.. this past summer.. my friend introduced me to Barlow Girl.. I went on line..and looked up some of there stuff.. and read up on them.. and what i found out was amazing.. Becca Barlow Dealt with and ED and Alyssa had dealt with something kinda like me.. also ( with the sickness) so i had decided to listen to their music .. and ever since then i just decided to just fully give my life over to god.. and fully dedicate 100% of my life over to him....because i knew that i wasnt alone.. and just that what i was doing to myself wasnt worth it.. because i was created in Gods image and his image alone.. i dont need to look to the things of this world to define me or any thing.. because as long as im doing as i feel Jesus has called me to do thats all that matters...

Barlow Girl Showed me the light.. I am a fellow SpER at SOUNDPOST!! you can go on their to read my full story... and how their music has helped me..

I started out as an 11 or 12 year old listening to both Christian and secular bands, Petra, Whiteheart, Whitecross, and then on the secular side, like Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Metallica, then Stryper hit, I was huge into Stryper in the day, so early on they were a pretty big influence in the "rock-n-roll" genre, I left Christian music and pretty much Church at some point in my late teens and early 20's alot of heavy influence from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice-in-Chains. I went through a separation and divorce in 2002 where as I discovered Caedmon's Call, I mean I already had one of their CD's but never really put to much time into it, I think it was a gift from someone. But through the divorce, I really got into the "40 Acres" CD, particularly the song "Table for Two" I really credit Caedmon's Call with assisting in me getting my life back together the have been a huge musical influence on my life. Musically and lyrically one of the premier groups in Christian music entertainment... Very Talented. So my props go to Caedmon's Call. My fav CD to this point is actually "Long Line of Leavers" with "40 Acres" a close 2nd.

Kirk Franklin. The guy is just real and humble. His book "Church Boy" gives alot of insight into the phenom who was raised by his great aunt and becomes Gospel's ambassador to R&B and Hip-Hop. I've met him three and interviewed him twice. He's incredibly humble despite his success and wants most to be a godly husband and father above the accolades. I love that! Not to mention sharing with the world with his past struggle with pornography. He let the world know on the Oprah show that there is deliverance through Jesus Christ.[8D]

cant really say one artist. in high school((80's))) I loved Petra, DeGarmo & Key and Geoff Moore's music.

left the Church a while in high school.((drug years and black metal pioneers were my life))

came back to CHurch and listened to SG and 80's CCM. humbleinspirit will know this band well. I was into David & The Giants.

left Church again and just came back round Christmas 06 time frame. now am back for good. now I dont idolize any one band or artist. I am a huge Triumphant Quartet((Southern Gospel)) fan as name suggests. but I listen to a wide variety of artists.

Jeremy Camp. His testimony about his 1st wife dying and how he used to his music to help him heal. I didn't think much of him until I saw him in concert and heard his testimony. It was very moving, very spiritual.

For me there are a couple of bands that I have been ministered too thru there music and ministry Michael Sweet his song with Stryper called together as one was played at my moms funneral plus his solo work is so wonderful I think his songs Stone and Someday are the 2 most beautiful songs ever written and who can beat his voice definitely not Jeff Godwin or Terry Watkins ; ) 2nd Bloodgood Whats following the grave and alone in suicide just rips my heart out. Very very powerful songs with a message lacking in todays white washed ccm

Rich mullins, especially the "Jesus" record. I prefer the disc containing just rich singing the demo's; low quality but powerful.
