Everything. lol I asked one of the crew people how she was doing yesterday evening, and she said alright, and I asked her why she was only alright, and she told me that her boyfriend had dumped her the day before. The whole evening she was quieter then usual. It would not have taken much for that to have affected her performance.

ok romantic love is not a waste of time, its AMAZING! And so what if she was quieter than usual, she had just been dumped, I know after I got dumped about a month ago, I was not myself either. It;s not easy zach, you should have some compassion on her.

I am not mad at her or anything, I was just using her as an example. Romantic love is seriously a distraction. Can you deny that?

I agree in the beginning it can be distracting, but will you never love just because it can be a distraction at first?

I am not saying that. But I am saying that it is a distraction and gets things from getting done, and could keep you from fulfilling your calling.

obviously there's going to be conflict but only love can get us through that
it's not easy realizing and living as one
but that's the beauty of the relationship in the first place
every one has to learn these things ..
like a tragedy, some feel encouraged to help and unite while others complain and curse god ..

I'm jumpin in a bit late, but no one ever stops me from putting in my two cents. 
Zach, I know EXACTLY what you mean. Romantic love CAN be a distraction if you let it be. For awhile, I couldn't think about anything but my boy. My work slipped. I got really sappy and weird.
But I got to thinkin' about it. That wasn't real romantic love. It was a gross crush that I had to deal with. I talked to him about it (which, by the way, was the scariest thing I'd ever done) and I realized that I do love and adore him, but it doesn't have to be a distraction. We mutually decided that neither of us are ready for a relationship. Now, even though I love him romantically and he doesn't return it *that* way, even though he does love me, it gives me energy. I can focus and use him as an excuse to avoid OTHER distractions.
Now, I'm really strange. I know that. But that's how it works for me. I don't go looking for a relationship because I have him even though I don't.
Gah. This made more sense in my head.

Methinks young people jump into what they think will be love way. too. fast.
We meet someone, think they are totally compatible or we just like them a lot and they have mutual feelings, we start talking/hanging out a lot.
then one disagreement, one incident, we get bored, etc etc. and it's over.

the getting bored imo is the biggest problem. incidents and disagreements can be fun to solve cause the relationship gets better afterwards but if they are bored of each other because of the people they are because they didnt know what they really wanted from a long relationship then you cant really fix that.. not easily anyway.
