So all of a sudden, the entire US will be in those conditions? Highly unlikely.

Just like how all of a sudden, all oil wells all oil wells started running out of oil and gasoline prices went up.

The good news with oil is that we can reduce our consumption by driving less.

The bad news about food is that in order to reduce our food consumption, we need to live less.

No not really. We just have to make different and likely healthier choices. So much food goes to utter waste in our country that some African communities could live for weeks on simply what we throw out! So many of the people in the U.S. are seriously obese - entire families - that could seriously manage on a lot less. Portion sizes in many homes and resturants are at least double what they should be. I know some people that won't touch leftovers, thus any food that doesn't get eaten at a meal in their homes gets pitched in the trash - even if it could be used as a meal later in the week!

Sure habits would have to be changed - but it's not less living. So many of us (my family included) could easily live on less food and not live any less.

Blessings,

Garsy

How true!

And doesn't society also pay the extra cost for the medical care they will need to receive. How many people actually shed their type I diabetes and high cholesterol from just eating right. God didn't forbid any specific types of food ("What God has purified you are not to call unclean." Acts 10:15) but he also said that overindulgence in food or drink is not good. (Proverbs 23:20)

"Don't you know that you are a temple of God, and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for God's temple is holy, which you are." 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

That's true. I read somewhere that in our country we throw away a full 25% of our food. Waste not, want not.

I agree, there is a great deal of waste today. I don't know any statistics, but don't restaurants throw out a great deal of food? Ever go to a conference where they have all this prepared food and fewer people than expected show up? I'm sure even the food packagers/distributors waste food. I would hope that with the rising food prices, they will be making wiser choices... I know I will be.

Personally, I can do without white rice... just give me some whole grains & seeds, fresh fruits & veggies, and a little meat. My body can learn to do without all the extra processed foods

There....is...no....food....shortage.

There...is...no...arable....land...shortage.

I was raised on a dairy farm and we grew much of what we ate. From milk, obviously, to most of our veggies, home made breads and we burned wood for heat in the winter.

Our garden was less than an acre....I think. Food garden anyways. My grandparents grew many flowers and lilac bushes. We planted sweet corn around the outside of some of our cow corn fields. Nuttin like shucking corn or peas for a day.

It can be done. It is a little bit of work. Gee, maybe the stay at home wife would come back into style. I think....this, if it ever happens, might be a good idea.

Amazing the facts that get so distorted. It seems there is a world wide problem with wheat there is a new wheat crop disease that has affected many parts of Africa and Asia but rice? it is a complex but solvable distribution problem. Caused by the speculators making huge profits on this problem.

Live less? How does one live less? Please explain your meaning.
