Because that is not what it is about.

Environmentalism and Greenpeace are not the same thing-- Greenpeace is a group dedicated to environmentalism, but they don't represent all environmentalists on Earth. By your logic, Eric Rudolph and the Ku Klux Klan-- acting on behalf of Christianity-- represent Christianity as a whole.

What I was asking was why the previous posters all seemed to have such deep enmity towards the idea of environmentalism.

Edit: I perhaps should have clarified myself in the previous post. I apologize for that error, but my question regarding anti-environmentalism still stands.

Bwuh? Earth Day was founded in the seventies by Senator Gaylord Nelson, and has never been focused around Greenpeace.

I hope so. Al Gore and the Action Rangers would be awfully disappointed in you all if you were telling the truth. VERY disappointed.

Who cares about them, Sartrian. We do our part to help the environment for their sons, daughters, nieces nephews. If they do not want to do their part, that's their problem, and the problem of future generations, not ours here. But, it makes me want to go out and do even more - so, really, it has the opposite affect than they intend!)

And notice the diversion of talking about extreme environmentalists, rather than acknowledging those that do their part? Interesting...

Peace, God bless, and happy belated Earth Day!

Yes yes. I fully expect all you others to go out and pick up after me so I can sit on my front porch and throw the beer cans over the side and then take pot shots at them with the Remington.

I mean after all, all y'all are SO much better than I am.

Wow! If that was aimed at my post, I have no idea where that came from.

The purpose of Earth Day is to remind us that we are stewards for the future kids on this planet. Again, if some don't want to do their part, I feel bad - but it makes me want to do more.

If you feel that others think they are better than you, stamper_ben - it has been my experience in similar situations, that usually they are not thinking that.

Peace and God bless,

I'll celebrate Earth day with a 55 gallon drum of pork and beans.....the resulting expulsions will reflect my opinion of environmentalists...oops I mean socialists...and their agenda.

Buy a cow...this also adds to expulsions.

Liz, it came from this comment of yours - We do our part to help the environment for their sons, daughters, nieces nephews.

I find it highly offensive and derogatory that you'd think I don't give a hoot about future generations.

But I think we've had this conversation before and I'm sure you didn't mean the above in a personal way.

Well, there's one good reason to keep the thread going in the direction it's headed.

For Lizahana and Sartrian, it's called humor. You should try it some time.

stamper_ben,

My use of the word 'we' in the aforementioned - is to denote me, and others, that choose to do something about being a steward of the earth - you know, kind of like how we are told to in the Old Testament.

And again, if people like you don't want to do anything about it - good for you. It just makes me want to do more. <****Edit: and please note my use of 'if' - meaning, I'm not saying that you do or do not want to do something - I am saying IF - please consider this if you answer****>

I have never said that you don't care about future generations - ie, I did not say participating in pro-environmental activities is the only way to help future generations, now, did I? Maybe you pass on stories, buy bonds, give money. Where in my post did I say that helping the environment is the ONLY way to give to future generations. I find it highly offensive when people put words in my mouth that I did not say.

Peace and God bless,

Mmmmm...well, let's just say I've had conversations with some before, and I have a slight feeling that for some, it's not ;)

Well, you were making fun of Earth day and saying you want to fill your gas tank up with gold, and drill in ANWR - so, I take it you don't want to do anything? <Notice the use of the ? mark, meaning, I'm asking, not assuming>

And so, when I say like you, I mean you and others like you, that want to buy a hummer, go on a polar bear hunt, club a seal, whatever.

So, what's wrong with that now?

I guess it's like walking on eggshells !) ...

Peace and God bless,

You misunderstood. It seemed like I filled my tank with gold because the price of gas is so high because we are not drilling in ANWR. So yes, I do want to do something. Drill in Alaska! That doesn't mean the degradation of the earth.

Well, I disagree on the latter, I'm sure you know. And fair enough. I just don't want you to think that I think I'm better in any way - because I don't think that at all.

You know I like you stamper_ben - we just have differing views, that's all - and, IMHO, you've had some of the funniest posts on this website.

Anyway, Peace and God bless,

It's humor and poking at those who are chicken little's over the unproven causes of climate change. 99.99%, actually I would say that 100% of the posters here are better conservationists than Al Gore ever could be.

I recycled, that counts does it not. I am a conservative recycler. I wonder how many of my liberal brothers and sister who worry about the environment also recycle? No comdenation, just wondering.

Don't look at the cause. Almost every cause is a good one.

Look at the solutions. The solutions will define the ideal.

What is proposed to fight the problem. Who benefits from it and as always...follow the money.

Funny thing about yer pal Al and some of his investments...they seem to be tied to wacko enviromental legislations. Yer great leader is a money grubbing fraud.
