I voted to move you to theology. The wit and offbeat humor in your thread runs very deep, and theology needs more of it. However, since probably the mods won't allow your thread to be in theology, you should keep it here.

Here is what I really think : I like your thread not being in the PFY folder. Over there, it can be hard to keep up with everyone because everyone has their own thread. It's like everyone has their own office and if you want to visit, you have to pick which one to stop in. However, your thread is like the water cooler thread, where people from all the offices (threads) stop by and chat a bit.

ORIGINAL: awed Either way though, I would read. I am far from a SG officiano but I have definitely reconnected with some of the music, and the timing of all that has been important to me right now. That is neat! Thank you Daniel. It started with David Phelps really and has continued you grow. Every saturday night I watch Classic Gospel on PBS and between that and these threads I am learning the elders AND the newer ones and you sure can't beat the messages of the music.

I voted for "Who's Kerrlaw?" . . . and am apparently the only honest one of the 5 who did so (or at least the only one to post such votings). Ironically, Kerr, without even knowing about this thread till just now, I have been thinking about your threads for a few days. They are a tradition here in SG; a much beloved tradition - well, in my opinion anyway. YOUR thread is where I got my start in the Southern Gospel folder; and then later to the music itself. I like that the thread title changes periodically (and hence, somewhat the "atmosphere") . . . even though it's still all the same people, with the occasional newbie. I like that people who wouldn't normally come to the SG folder do so for your thread (and even some of them eventually come to like the music; the others, we'll just continue keeping in our prayers.) There is a very unique personality about your thread; it's hard to put a finger on how to describe it, but I think it would loose some of its wonderfulness if housed any place other than SG. I love Cranky's water cooler analogy! As much as I so very much love the PFY threads . . . and I truly do; that's where I got my start here in these threads and there's other reasons as well . . . your thread belongs right where it's at. Besides . . . if you keep it here in SG, I'll give ya another pound of Jack's Kona. Hey . . . I admit it; I'm not above a little bribery to get my way.

I can also say that I have appreciated learning about Southern Gospel music. It's all been new to me.

I vote to keep it where it is. I don't know what PFY is so I doubt I would find it there. I do wonder if the results would be different if the poll was placed in one of the other folders.

AmeriGrandpa . . . PFY stands for Personally For You. It's a chat thread folder (over in Community Lounge), where individual posters start their own chat threads.

Interesting. Do you think the result would be different if he had posted this question there?

Would someone please take it upon themselves to tell me when important stuff like this comes up because I had no idea this discussion was happening. How did you think you'd come to a decision without me? Oh. Maybe that was the plan. In any case, I agree 100% (as usual) with Cranky. Please keep it here in SG. quote:

Maybe he should start a thread in each folder. Or would that spread his wit too thin?

How did you think you'd come to a decision without me? I bet, then, you can well imagine how upset I was last night to find this thread without proper prior notice. I almost didn't vote. That sure would have shown our beloved Counsellor, huh?! Besides, I couldn't get word to you . . . I've been locked up and secluded away in a oubliette. Who let you out? I don't see how anyone thinks that things like this could possibly be done without the 2 of us. I mean really! What were they thinking?
