I thought the Dove awards were a joke. Tobymac is so grossly overrated. I seen him on tour back in october with TFK and Barlow Girl. TFK opened and just nailed what a live show should be like. The other 2 hours I was bored to tears. How the video for "Boomin" won over TFK is a mystery. I wasnt a big fan of the "Fall's Apart" video but the song is amazing, much better than Tobymac. I was upset that Skillet did not win for group of the year but not surprised. Rock bands are so overlooked at these things that I feel like the only reason they even get an award is so it feel like the GMa's arent being biased toward one genre, which they are. Skillet was by far and away the best group out there. How many AC type groups can go out and open for mainstream secular acts like Skillet and Red did last year with Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin. The trend of rock band being overlooked will continue as long as there is such things as "family-friendly'radio formats. I hear bands like Skillet, Red, Flyleaf, Pillar, and TFK played on the secular rock stations and even Top 40 stations more than I have ever heard on christian stations. All I ever hear is Casting Crowns and Mercy ME, which to me sound totally the same in every way. To me christian radio is extremly hipocritical in how it only showcases one genre of music. If a rock song is played it is slowed down and any bit of aggression is taken out or it is a slower type song that fits their little mold. So in closing the Dove's dropped the ball but that isnt a surprise now is it.

It said that Mark Hall won Songwriter Of The Year, when actually Cindy Morgan won, at the News page.

Was Wynonna there just to sing with Natalie or was she one of the hosts?

Wyonna was just singing w/Natalie... Bring The Rock, I disagree that TM is grossly overrated because he is the very few Christian artists outhere who addresses the issue of racism in the body, which many of the artists are scared to tackle.--anyways, that is another topic for another thread. Anyways, you are right about one thing about bands being overlooked as long as the "Family Freindly" formats whose air personalities control the voting. It also goes with gospel artists as well. If your music don't sound like the music of the "soccer moms" instead of exploring and listening to various musical sounds, guess what, the same people will win and be nominated. (no offense to those people, but that's the way it is unfortnatly). Christian music will not be still accepted because there is so much division.

I am so used to a diverse crowd that I sometimes overlook the fact that there are still "white" churches, and "black" churches. That's sad. I know I've been in both, but my Church is a mix of alot of very different people. I did go to a primarily black church on a few occasions, and unfortunately, I was not welcomed there except by just a few people. The primarily white churches are the same way. Whatever the case, that's sad. In the music industry, it has nothing to do with race or anything like that though. It's the fact that "family friendly" stations play ONE type of music. Man, I would still be listening to secular hit music if there wasn't a Christian hit station here. I couldn't stand listening to one genre all the time.

The industry isn't divided. It's biased.
