Everybody has a star on the music folder. I don't think you can "disable" spellcheck or decrease the reply time.
I don't know about marking xteens as a favorite folder. I know you can subscribe to threads. Hmm..
Somebody help us out here. Lol

hmmm..I think there is something in your profile that gives you the option to disable the spellcheck. I'm not sure about the other thing....

You have to wait a little while before each post. It will say "You can't post two consecutive messages within such a short amount of time".

Which it just did to me. Surprise. Surprise.

usually if I hit "back" mine is saved

i dunno about the spell check, it's turned off on mine, but I'm using the old format of the forums. And, the post time cannot be changed. there was a time when there was no waiting time, which made awesome chaotic random and rapid posting. Alas, tis not that way anymore.

You can subscribe to the entire folder - that would make it so you'll get an email whenever someone makes a new thread. Do this by clicking "subscribe" at the top of the thread list.

There's no other way to make it a favorite.

I don't have a star next to the Music folder. What forums portal are you using? (ibelieve.com, christianity.com, crosswalk.com, etc.)

Spell check was/is a feature that became active yesterday; a lot of us were annoyed by it. CLICK HERE for a thread about it. It has become an optional feature and is turned off by default.

Regarding reply time: you can lessen it a little by setting your system clock to forums time (or by making sure your system clock is synchronized to a time server). HERE is a post that talks about how to do it. That whole thread discusses the delay.

Hope this helps.

it helped a little
i got a star next to music folder and i'm sure i didn't do that
i thought it "automatically" read my posts and "assumed" my favorites [because up to that point my posts were majorly about the GMA week chats ..]
i had no idea what you were talking about about forum portals ..
but since i subscribed to the xteens section i know about that there was a thread called "day of silence" [but where is that thread now?]
thru my email i tried to followed the path of that thread and i'm still not sure what happened .. it was then that i noticed a different portal
besides once, and not by my own will or knowledge, i have been using the ccm magazine one, the other was was crosswalk ..
let's get back to favorites again, i disliked the idea of subscribing to threads i liked because it would cluttered my inbox
but hadn't i done that there's no way i'd know "day of silence" existed
[i had the chance to read the thread and what was wrong with it? why was it locked or even more dramatically, erased completely?]
i think there *is* a way to control your favorites though i'm sure no one really knows
if there's a star next to a folder [that is, the Music Folder] then it's possible that it can be aligned to N folders
that's my point of view and i'm glad most users fell violated by the spellcheck [it should always be optional]
i tried to follow the reset time thing but i have a mac and it's not the same thing
i'm now using safari and so far no real problem but i have only posted 2 posts today .. i usually use firefox for forums
reply time for me is the biggest hassle because i have no idea how it works
the other day i PMed a friend and then i posted and i tried PMing her back but i couldn't because i had "made two consecutive posts"
i usally wait 15 seconds so i know that there is less chance of it happening but here this thing is totally unpredictable
it's difficult living with that unreliability because i'm sure many users are discouraged to use the forum if they experience these problems with frequency
thanks for hearing me

i can usually "back" it up in other boards but not here
i think for time reply 15 seconds is ok, 50 too long, 5 excellent

(I hope y'all don't mind me invading to answer these questions. I'll move this thread to Feedback & Information if the OP wants, but I figured you were more comfortable with it staying in this folder.)

Copy the web address for this page, up through the ".com" part.

quote:

but since i subscribed to the xteens section i know about that there was a thread called "day of silence" [but where is that thread now?] ... [i had the chance to read the thread and what was wrong with it? why was it locked or even more dramatically, erased completely?]

It was removed from the public viewing area by a moderator. As for why, you'd have to email the forums admin and ask that Q.

quote:

t was then that i noticed a different portal besides once, and not by my own will or knowledge, i have been using the ccm magazine one, the other was was crosswalk ..

AHA! You're using the ccm magazine portal! That's probably why you have a star on the music folder - the portal probably does that.

If you log in through forums.crosswalk.com or one of the other portals, you probably won't have the star.

Yeah, sometimes the links are not relative (meaning that you won't stay in your portal when you click on it). To make it such, substitute the ccm.com part of the web address in for the forums.crosswalk.com part (or whichever web address is in the link) and try it from there.

I actually don't think the system sends emails when you get new posts in subscribed THREADS. But when you subscribe to the FOLDER (such as Xtreme Teens), you'll get an email when someone makes a new thread.

I'm subscribed to a TON of threads and don't get emails when someone posts in them.

I honestly don't think so. I do know that you cannot sort the folders on the main page, so you can't put favorite folders at the top.

quote:

i tried to follow the reset time thing but i have a mac and it's not the same thing

IF you want help with that, I suggest posting the Q over in the Computers/Technology folder. We've got other Mac users in the forums that would be happy to help you figure it out. But from the sound of it, it has improved for ya.

Thanks Tricia, i was satisfied with your answers
maybe in the future some of these things should be addressed on the FAQ
and i'm sure more users would be thrilled with the idea of manipulating their favorite places to post as folders
