Ah that takes me back. Years ago my friends and I would make potato gun rifles out of PVC pipe. We would cut a potato and tamp it down the barrel like a musket loader. For the propellant we used cheap hairspray and ignited it with a grill igniter. We could shoot the potato up to 50 yards.

They are coming to a church nearby. If we are available, I am thinking that it might be fun to go, but wondered how well known they really are (not that it matters greatly unless they are horrible or something).

Don't ever load one with a live frog........ 
We were discussing the PVC potato guns the other day and a patient said once they ran out of potatoes and used green walnuts instead. And the hair spray was gumming up the mechanism so they had the  to use acetylene. I'm surprised he's still with us.
