Ok, I will admit, I am observant and for better and for worse I notice things. What I have noticed more recently is the number of women who wear shoes with pointed toes on them. My thinking that they are obviously uncomfortable. Do you wear pointed shoes? As usual, inquiring minds wanna know! [;)][:D]

car2ner -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 7:58:12 AM)

EEEW no. Even my high heels have a nice curved tip. I also have a pair with square toes. Alas, fashion comes and fashion goes. A pointy toe could be comfortable if the shoe is the correct size, since the point comes off of the big toe.

PrincessButtercup -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 3:24:15 PM)

Pointy shoes can kill your feet. No thanks.

I would rather have open toed shoes, or better yet, no shoes at all. Haha!

phosadaud -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 3:54:59 PM)

Don't wear them. Won't wear them. I prefer comfort over fashion.

Ps103 -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 4:06:08 PM)

Pointy-toed shoes can do a lot for a woman: give her bunions, hammertoes and corns.

phosadaud -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 4:46:41 PM)

Which of course is VERY fashionable... [8D]

ladyingrace1979 -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 6:15:41 PM)

No way! I go for comfort over style everytime. Reciently I saw something on T.V about the numbers of women who are having to consult podiatrist(I totally mispelled that) for foot pain and more serious issues. Mostly I wear flats with a broad toe box for dressing up, and sneekers for everyday. I also go barefoot a lot at home. I think I remember reading that is good for your feet.

I have wide feet with a very high instep. In order to wear those shoes I would have to buy them several sizes too big, a la Ronald McDonald.

So, no thanks, lol.

(I like my Danskos...and I have never seen pointy Danskos)

Grace-N-Mercy -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 7:22:02 PM)

I recently found that some pointy toed shoes are pretty comfortable. My most comfy shoes are a gorgeous pair of pointy-toed 2" heel boots. So I try them on first to see how they feel, then how they look. [sm=icon_smile_bow.gif]

BugLady -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 8:23:40 PM)

I really like my feet. They are largely responsible for getting me from point A to point B. But I don't have pointy feet. I will not subject my trusty, reliable feet to pointy shoes for the sake of fashion.

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 9:14:19 PM)

(1) I prefer shoes that don't have a pointed look to them;
(2) I imagine they could be dangerous to walk in;
(3) I like my Birkenstocks and my Chacos just fine, thank you.

and (4) Speaking of being dangerous, I'm sure they could be used as a weapon towards unwanted, uhm, admirers.

Well, you got a point there Sharon Marie! I've changed my mind. I'm all for pointy shoes!

Glad I could help with your decision-making process, Mac!

phosadaud -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 9:24:02 PM)

Personally, I'd rather just strap some spurs on my shoes... [sm=icon_smile_evil.gif]

BugLady -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 9:26:29 PM)

OKAY! Now you're talkin'!!![:D]

azroadrunner -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 10:25:50 PM)

Pointy shoes with spurs. Hmmm . . . now that sounds like a cowboy boot.

karlie -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/27/2008 10:43:24 PM)

I do have 2 or 3 pointy toed heels that I wear on occasion and I love them. But, they aren't meant for wearing on long walks or mall shopping, or for more than a couple of hours, so for what I wear them for, they are perfectly comfortable. If I wore them beyond their intended wear, then I'd pay for it! But, for church or the occasional wedding, I never have any problems with them. I do buy good dress shoes though, and that makes a massive difference. Cheap heels, especially with a point, are not something I want even for a couple of hours.

I have a good pair of pant boots with a heel that I wear all day to school and they feel great. They have a slight point. But again, they are quality boots and that makes a difference.

I'm 43 years old, have worn heels since I could walk practically and have never, ever had a foot problem or foot pain.

Pointy shoes? Are you kidding? No way! [:'(]

fluffmonkey -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/28/2008 1:22:42 AM)

Nooo, I really cant stand those pointy heals or boots.... ugh but my sister loves them >_>

ChiefWannahakaloogie -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/28/2008 2:18:45 AM)

i HATE pointed shoes. they look like a slice of pizza, and i don't want anyone eating my feet.

_Cinderella_ -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/28/2008 4:59:51 AM)

Don't own any.

car2ner -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/28/2008 6:06:55 AM)

the comfort issue aside, I don't like the way they look. Too much attention to the feet. Dressy shoes should be like salt, adds a bit of flavor to your appearance, not be the only thing you remember later on.

Calea37 -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/28/2008 10:20:10 AM)

I have some pointed shoes and find them to be just as comfortable as any other high heel..(which isn't saying much!) I have a wider foot, and I don't really like the way my feet look in them...they remind me of witch shoes or something but I needed some brown heels, and there they were..[&:] Now all I need is the pointy black hat and I'm good to go...[sm=aside.gif]

hotsaucygma -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/28/2008 1:32:23 PM)

The pointy shoes of today are not the same as the ones your Momma used to wear (I've worn both). Today's don't start to get "pointy" until your toes have some room to be toes. I don't especially like the look of some of them, but I do have one or two pair that I like and are comfortable.

You are a woman after my own heart!!!! I too have shoes that are so cute, but are only good for a few hours and others that are for longer wear. The trick is to figure out which is which.

Back to the thread - I don't mind pointy shoes - my toes are usually at the wider part of the point and aren't squeezed in when I wear them, so they are pretty comfortable. I have a nice pair of brown sued shoes with a point (got them for $5 - yes $5!) that I always get compliments on. I just like pretty feminine shoes - and if they are comfortable too, the better.

I don't have foot pain because I tend to buy shoes that have support - like a nice wedge heel or a cute pair of slides. You can look cute and be comfortable too!
