LOL! I like a big impact with my shoes! [:D]When I see someone on TV very dressed up, or at a wedding, I could describe her cute shoes an hour later in great detail, but maybe remember the color of the dress that went with them!

That's exactly right. Mine don't squish my toes at all because of when they start to taper. I am picky with them though...I don't like all pointed styles by a long shot!

Karlie, you're going to be so disappointed when you meet me.

Perhaps, I'll just go barefoot and adorn my feet with pretty ribbons, sparklies and whatnots. [:D]

Ok, I will admit, I am observant and for better and for worse I notice things. What I have noticed more recently is the number of women who wear shoes with pointed toes on them. My thinking that they are obviously uncomfortable. Do you wear pointed shoes? As usual, inquiring minds wanna know! [;)][:D]

I don't care for them at all. Most are extremely uncomfortable and the rest just remind me of the Wicked Witch of the West

sunluvingirl -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/28/2008 8:50:03 PM)

No, I don't even own any pointy toe shoes.[:)]

Oh, that, I seriously doubt! I accept and love my friends, shoe flaws and all [8D]

But if you go barefoot you can wear toe rings. Toe rings and pointy shoes are not a good combination.

That's very true! I love open toed shoes too and wear them almost exclusively in the spring and summer. My few pointed-toed shoes are winter shoes.

redtulip -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/29/2008 12:17:39 PM)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE pointy toed dress shoes. I have about 8 pairs and love each and every one :) I had a pair I got at payless one time and they KILLED my toes! The ones I have now are mostly leather from Nine West and they don't hurt my feet a bit. I'd wear them all day shopping at the mall or for dancing at a wedding. I think the key to making sure they're comfortable is making sure they fit well.

I did make fun of my sister when she bought a pair of black pumps with the pointy toe before I had every tried a pair on. We called her Cruella :)

I LOVE Nine West...shoes and bags! I just discovered a Nine West outlet store a couple of weeks ago. I didn't have time to stop in. I can't wait to get back there.

I am all about no shoes and comfort to all the ladies who have posted ANTI HEEL, and I own four pair of birkenstocks myself, but I'm also completely addicted to high heels! I love them and wear them to work everyday. I don't wear shoes that aren't comfortable, and in a heel, even the pointy toes, you get what you pay for. Wearing a hot pair of heels makes my legs look great and makes me feel slimmer, and also improves my posture walking.
As far as bunnions (spelling, sorry), corns, and whatever else, taking care of your feet is important. My feet are one of my favorite features and I wouldn't sacrifice them for the sake of wearing heels. My feet are still as pretty as they were when I got hooked on heels, and like I said, I wear them tons. My most comfy pair of heels happen to be pointy toe. I can go out at break at work and throw the football around with my friends in those, just like I got done doing! I do that in most all of my heels though. Anyways, I suggest everyone take a good pair for a test drive just to see. You never know. I wouldn't recommend getting any if you can't walk in them though. Not worth a broken ankle.

MsSara -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/29/2008 5:01:49 PM)

Oh, and I was going to recommend some of my favorite names for good heels.
Karlie, you are dead on with Ninewest! One of my favorites!
BCBG
Guess
Antonio Melani
Steve Madden
Michael Kors (kind of pricey, but worth it)
Gianni Bini
Kenneth Cole
Jessica Simpson
Bruno Magli

Good luck!

I have wide feet, and wear shoes for comfort first. On my own time, I go barefoot or wear birkenstock-type shoes and sandles. At work, the dress code for women requires dress shoes, so I go for flats or very low heels. On a shopping trip last weekend to find said dress shoes, I discovered after hitting 4 different shoe stores that apparently no one is making dress flats for women with wide feet and in ecru or taupe. I found all sorts of dress shoes with 2 inch stiletto heels and pointy toes. I finally went to Goodwill and found 2 pair of flats in bone and brown, apparently very new as they had no signs of wear.

I may learn how to make shoes...

Jenny-Fair -> RE: Pointy Shoes (4/30/2008 10:59:57 PM)

Pale, I highly recommend Dansko shoes.

rgod -> RE: Pointy Shoes (5/1/2008 12:30:20 PM)

I don't recognize the designer shoe brands for the most part, but I do like Nine West. They seem to strike a nice balance between classic and unique styling that I really enjoy. I was perusing a couple of website and ran across Carlos Santana's line of shoe. Beautiful, feminine and bold. I really like them. However the heels are all really high - so they are shoes that can be worn every once in a while on a special occasion. But whenever finances allow (and I can find a good deal) I might be try to snag a pair ...

Anamchara -> RE: Pointy Shoes (5/1/2008 11:09:18 PM)

I personally like pointed shoes on other people, but dont wear many of them myself. My feet are big enough as is, and dont need to add a couple of uncessary inches. I do have a couple pair though, that I wear on occassion.

AngelInWaiting1983 -> RE: Pointy Shoes (5/2/2008 11:04:50 PM)

I have a few pairs. I love them! I love shoes in general though.

Totally agree. I bought 2 pairs of winter boots [same boot, brown and black] with 3" heels - slim heel rather than big and clunky so they look great for going out - yet they are some of the most comfy boots I've worn. They look fabulous, and they were literally all I wore this winter. Even with the tall slim heel, they are totally stable on snow and ice. They are an engineering marvel. There are really good brands out there that combine great looks and comfort.

And it's true that you really have to know your shoes and divide them into those you can wear all day and those you wear for going out. I have a few pairs of pointy shoes, and none are really comfortable enough to wear all day, but they work great with jeans or wide leg pants on a fun night out.

Pointy shoes can kill your feet. No thanks.

I would rather have open toed shoes, or better yet, no shoes at all. Haha!

Ditto. [:D]

humbleinspirit -> RE: Pointy Shoes (5/3/2008 8:47:33 AM)

Now I gotta just find it simply amazing that a pointy shoe would be comfortable.

Grace-N-Mercy -> RE: Pointy Shoes (5/3/2008 9:22:12 AM)

In a good shoe, the toes do not start to taper off until after your toes, so you don't have to fit your toes into the "point" if that makes any sense.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Pointy Shoes (5/3/2008 9:22:50 AM)

So iow, you wear a show that is one size bigger then instead?

Grace-N-Mercy -> RE: Pointy Shoes (5/3/2008 9:30:15 AM)

Nope! If they're made right, they can be very comfortable. My first pointy toe boot got me hooked.

HERE'S one that looks comfortable to me.

Edited to add link.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Pointy Shoes (5/3/2008 9:36:19 AM)

Hmmm, still looks uncomfortable to me. Now, are the shoes in size wide instead? (and why do I ask so many questions about these kind of things?) [sm=aside.gif]

For those who need a wide shoe, they do come in wide, but they need to have a good fit so it just "hugs" the feet.
