Our drive-in has opened for the season. I haven't been out there in a couple of years because it's always a double feature and I don't like sitting there that long! But still, I spent my whole life going to drive-in movies and I'm glad I have the option. Do you go to the drive-in in your town?

The last drive-in theater in NJ closed more than 20 years ago. I used to love going to the drive-in. Great place to see horror flicks like "Last House on the Left" and "Don't Look in the Basement".

I remember going to the drive-in as a kid...we had a station wagon. My brother and I would put on our jammies and get our pillows and blanket. Dad always had one of those skeeter burning circle things to keep the bugs out. It took forever to light and didn't really help, but he did it anywy. Mom would pack lots of snacks for us and off we'd go. Sometimes, they brought their lawn chairs so they could sit outside while we slept in the car. The drive-in we went to did double features but always had a cartoon up front. We were usually sound asleep 30 minutes into the first movie. All the drive-ins around here are closed now. The one we went to as a kid in Florida is still open. The last movie I saw there was a James Bond movie. It was the one that Paul McCartney did the theme song.

Our Drive-In opened about a month ago for the season. We have been 3 times so far. Love it!

Doink, We just love going! Now that the kids are grown it's just Rick and I. And now that we are alone, where do you think we park? As close to the bathrooms as we can get.

ORIGINAL: stellaluna See, our drive-in doesn't let you leave until the whole thing is over. They're mean like that. The ones we have gone to you are free to leave anytime. Most of the time I talk Rick into leaving after the second movie because the last one is usually the scary one. He likes horror movies, but I find them hard to watch with my hands over my eyes.

Never been to a drive-in movie theater, but there is one like 30 minutes or so away from me. I've been meaning to go there and check it out. Of course it's only open when the weather is nice out.

I think drive-in movies are something everyone should do at least once.

I do too. The closest we have now is a movie in the park where they show a movie outside in a public park. But they can't do it very often cause the bugs around here are seriously carnivorous.

And while the eats were cheap, the between-movie ads for the snack bar selling them were priceless. Animated hot dogs and Popsicles dancing around to a scratchy soundtrack...film footage of questionable greenish pizza...corn dogs that were older than Teddy Roosevelt... Good times. They still have those! Chilly dilly pickles, dancing soda pops, the whole she bang!

I haven't been to a drive-in movie in at least 20 years. I loved to go to the drive-in with my famil when growing up. I agree everyone should experience a drive-in movie at least once. I know there is one that might be about 45 mins to an hour away from us and I think that taking our family to the drive-in will be on our list of things to do this summer before my daughter goes to college.

We never bought food from the concession stand when we went. We packed up the cooler with sodas and my dad popped enough popcorn to fill a paper grocery bag.

Nothing says that you have to stay for both features... you could always just go to the first one and then leave. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is a drive-in not too far from me. We go a few times a year when there is something out I want to see. We went last week and saw "Horton Hears a Who!" with "College Road Trip." We were only one of three cars there since it was a Wednesday night.

We don't have a drive in near us. I loved going to those growing up. Popcorn in the bag, own sodas. Often times already in pajamas so when we got home we could just go right to bed. Out of all the places to pick usually parking in a spot with a bad speaker. LOL Fun thinking about all the memories. My gosh the last drive in movie I went to see was over 20 years ago when I went and stayed a few days with my sister and brother in law. For some reason I'm thinking the movie was Ruthless People with Danny Devito but not positive.

Do people actually go to the drive in to watch the movies??? My husband does. I was looking forward to cuddling with him like we were teenagers and he wants to watch the movie. Hhmmpph.

Going to the drive-in tonight to see Spiderwick Chronicles and Iron Man. While they took down the playground years ago, our drive-in is one of the oldest in the country and still pretty authentic-- down to the tinny speakers to prop on your window. They also broadcast a radio frequency, so we park in the back, pop the van hatch, and have an excellent surround sound experience. My only beef is that we always end up by someone chain smoking from their car... ... and we're a scroungy kid wanting our snacks magnet! But that happens when you have five kids of your own. They gravitate towards you.
