Normally you'll see each candidate move away to some degree from their respective core group to try and convince the "center" they are the person for them...

Have you looked at what atheist claim for politics lately, most evolution/ scientist claim conservatism!
homosexual, I just showed you the Log Cabin Republicans, did you know that Rove courted them in 2000, changed his game for 2004 and courted the right, they are really mad at him, after all the speeches and promises he made them. look it up, better yet, go find the youtube video of his speeches.
