I have very little understanding of god, I have shared a few things with folks on the board over the last week, would like to please ask for your prayers please for those that pray that I willl seek god, I would like to start that the path toward knowing god as a savior.......the bible chapter im reading dosent give any direction on how to accept god etc.

Can anyone help please and just keep me in ur thoughts, thanks much.

Dear Proudamerican
We will earnestly pray for you. However. you can start by accepting JESUS CHRIST as your savior. Do you know about the resurrection of Jesus Christ? Do you know why he sacrificed his life? He died on the Cross for us, he died on the Cross of calvary to save us from our sins. He died and after 3 days rose again. His resurrection gave us power to overcome many things. We now have power over evil because of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said.. .."The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."John 10:10 <<here the thief is satan and Jesus came so we can have a more abundant life.
..Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6. Jesus is is our savior, he is our deliverer, Strength, healer and very present help. If you read the book of John you will see how much Jesus laid his life for us.

First of all, i want to reassure you that you are on the right path already.

James 1:5 tells us that if anyone lacks wisdom, he may ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Jeremiah 29:12-13 says you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Secondly, Romans 10:9-10 tells us what is required for us to be saved:
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Heavenly Father, thank you for Proudamerican's desire to know you. You have been working in his heart already. You have led him to seek you for a reason. You have a plan for him and a place for him in Your kingdom. I ask, dear Lord, that you would give him the greater understanding of You that he seeks. More importantly Father I ask that you will lead Him into a saving relationship with You through Jesus Christ. Lastly, Lord, calm any anxiety or fear in his heart, and grant him the peace that comes from being able to rest in You. Thank you that you hear our prayers. In Jesus' name I ask these things. Amen.

Read the Book of John and when you are reading pray that HE gives you understanding about what you are reading

It also takes time and the more you read and pray while you are reading the more you will be able to understand

proudamerican, do you feel the Lord is urging you to accept Jesus as your Saviour?

If you do, do you understand that you are a sinner, as we all are?

Do you understand that there is nothing you can due to earn salvation?

Do you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? That He died on the cross to pay the price for our sins and rose again?

If you understand this and want ot ask Jesus to be Your Saviour, then you would just say a simple prayer. Something like:

"Jesus I know that I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins, and come into my heart. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me. Amen." Then share with someone that You have accepted Jesus.

If you don't feel ready to say this prayer, it's ok. Continue to study God's word. I would suggest reading in John about Jesus, and in Romans to help understand about salvation.

If you did or do say this prayer and mean it with your whole heart, God's word says that we are a new creature. You will be a "baby" christian and need to feed on His word to help you grow in your faith. I would suggest finding a church family to help you grow. Joining a Bible study, and reading the Bible. Ask God to help you understand. If you have accepted Jesus as your Saviour, His Holy Spirit now dwells within you and will help you to understand what He wants you to learn each day.

Did you know that when we accept Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, we are given the power to be the sons of God?

Thank you for already working with proudamerican. Please help them to understand the Bible. Guide proudamerican while starting with the book of John, reading through it and praying about it as he reads. Help proudamerican to accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and accept him as Lord and Savior. It is in the name of Jesus Christ that I thank you and ask this. Amen.

PA,

GREAT first step. Now I would suggest that you read John as suggested, but I also would suggest that you attend a church, one very bible based.

Father, thank you for Proudamericans first steps toward you, please guide him, give him understanding of the path to fully become your child, accepting you, understanding that we are all sinners, saved by your grace and forgiveness.

I especially pray for someone locally to reach out to him guide him on this path, help him to find a great local church.

FATHER GOD, lead and guide proudamerican to the right sources. Increase that desire in his heart to know more about you God. Plant people in his life that will direct him to you and your word, encourage him and support in as he desires to know you. In Jesus Name Amen.
