Why would a 13 year old find this funny?

Uh, because she is 13 and an idiot?

Thanks

I think I am more concerned with the fact that she managed to stick so many kids before a single person said something to an adult. Were the teachers on drugs or just not doing their jobs? That is inexcusable.

Or before another kid just tackled her....

My son would have tackled her.

One of mine would have lectured her on bloodborne pathogens (his response to this headline was 'BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS!!!!! lol) and the other would have tattled.

Here's the problem, though: At the high school up the street, two kids brought a gun to school. One student reported it...twice, as it happens, because the idiots in charge didn't do anything about it. Once it was all said and done, the entire school ostracized not the dumb-dumbs with the gun, but the child who reported it.

The mob mentality reigns supreme in public schools today.

Even if all of those people who were struck with the needle, were clean... it still wouldn't have been funny. I wanna know how she was even able to stick so many people with that needle, before someone put a stop to it?!?

Probaly because the kids are told that even self-defense is wrong at school...

That's very sad. But if it were me, I would rather defend myself and get expelled, than to be one of the 35 people getting tested for everything that is floating out there.

My sister, who is now fifty years old, did something similar when she was in elementary school. She poked ONE student. Then she was caught. The principal called the entire school together for a lecture on how dangerous that was--a lecture she literally never forgot. This was maybe 40 years ago--long before AIDS.

Just what I was going to say, Jenny, but you said it for me. Nuff said.

What were the teachers supposed to do if they didn't know? The article says almost nothing about the circumstances in which it happened, so it is hard to say who wasn't doing their job. I am surprised that no kids said anything.

I am not aware of any local district that says self-defense is wrong, but that may be different in other places. I seriously doubt many schools would boot a student that was trying to prevent themselves from being assualted with a knitting needle. If they tried that to my child then I would certainly go the legal route to prevent that from happening.

If teachers did not know, it is because they were not supervising the students in their care, and THAT falls under 'not doing their job'. Anyone who thinks 35 middle schoolers can be left unsupervised is an idiot. That is just asking for trouble.

stellaluna -> RE: Girl Stuck 35 Classmates With The Same Needle (5/4/2008 8:00:16 PM)

I thought a teacher was one of the people she stuck.

Anyway, yeah, she's an idiot. Any child half her age knows better than to do that.
