I finally stopped condemning myself when I realized it's more important
to know what the Bible says than to quote it and not understand it.

A lot of verses are quoted together that have nothing to do with each other.
We can only realize that when we look at each verse in it's own context.

I haven't changed my name since last time, but I did change my appearance.

I shaved my beard off last night. LOL.

Now I'm a slick face Gentile again and not a hippy any more either. lol.
We'll see how it goes over this Sabbath. lol.

Actually, I began shedding more than the dog, so it was time for action.

I'm not really certain when Dr Impe actually set a date as to when things were going to happen. I've watched almost all of his tapes and DVD's and I don't recall a date ever being set in any of them.

Unless you are refering to the 2012 DVD that was released a little while back. However, he did state the he does not like setting a date himself and he did quote the scripture as to no one knows the date or hour but only the Father.

I don't believe he sets dates anymore than Dr LaHaye.

Anyone?

No offense, but being compared to LaHaye is not a ringing endorsement.

I disliked LaHaye back in the 70s, long before he started his Left Behind cash cow. But if all I knew about LaHaye's eschatology was his LB series (which I read except for the final book), I'd reject him as over the edge. He used elements in the plot that clearly fly in the face of the traditional premil-pretrib eschatology.

No offense taken. It doesn't bother me that Dr LaHaye co-authored the Left Behind series and made a few million. I never bothered to read the series beyond about 1/3 of the first book. Fiction hasn't been my "beef" for some time. I would classify the "Left Behind" series as "Cheesy." But that is my opinion of the writing style in the series.

The comparison I mentioned dealt with the topic of "setting dates" (ref. my quote). Neither LaHaye nor Impe sets a specific date in any of their interpretations of Bible references. I have never read any of Dr Impe's stuff (why bother when I can get it on DVD - I'd rather watch than read any day - call me lazy). But he never set a date. A hypothetical - yes (in his 2012 DVD) but he did state that he "was not" setting a date. Tim LaHaye in his book "Revelation Unvieled" never set a date either.

Both are Pre-Trib. I feel both aim at the same goal of working for the Lord in winning souls for Christ.

I guess you can always say that no matter what opinion is out there we all will find out in the end what really was/is true.

I would prefer to setting a date over the "eminent return" they espouse.

If it were eminent it would have happened decades and decades ago.

I watched JVI for a few moments this week. During those moments all
I saw were the typical parade of newspaper clippings used to dramatize
the whole speel.

If the whole world wasn't so bent on being entertained, we might hear more
of the old time gospel. Like the need of redemption, blood covenant, etc.

I don't find any problem teaching the scripture without the aid of the media.
There's plenty of drama in the Word itself. lol.

Inevitably it will eventually be an "eminent return." We just don't know when "eminent" is. Being completely truthful about the matter of the "Rapture." I think it is great. I look for his return. If I remember correctly; Jesus even said to look for the signs of his return. That's cool! I do... But life still goes on. I don't have the time to watch every episode of JVI. I think what he does is a good thing. I think he is doing what Jesus has commanded us to do in winning souls to Christ. I think this is the path God had chosen for him.

I don't have a TV show, a radio program or a pulpit. I'm not even going to pretend I'm an expert on biblical prophecy (I'm not). I am just a simple guy with a simple understanding on one main thing...

...and that is that I know Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and if I accept that and ask for God to forgive my sins - he will. And he did.

Whatever vocation these people take, whatever prophetic interpretation these Bible scholars may have. Is not important to me. I know that Jesus will come back for his own. When? Only God knows and it was Jesus that said that. I will trust Jesus' word.
