Did I miss something... Ruth are your pregnant again?!

Manda- I tend to think the UK like Australia uses "pack and plays" or portable cots for sleeping, while we tend to use them for one or two nights sleep or for the child to play in to keep them out of the way for a bit. I don't know anyone who has used a portable cot for sleeping every day in, we all use cots or cribs as they usually end up the same price as a quality portable cot anyway. I also would tend to listen to the guidelines the manufacturer says too.

Yup. I announced in the preggo thread.

Nathan slept better last night. He went straight from 8am till almost 5am, but then we were getting bad T-storms. He had trouble getting back to sleep, so hubby took him downstairs for me. He did go back to sleep, and now dh is catching up on his rest.

We had the same issue!! Rotten T-storms!!

Judah is currently memorized with Curious George on tv... this is the first time he's shown so much interest in a show! I'm surprised he likes it as there are a lot of people talking.

Congratulations Ruth!!!

Has anyone had a little one have a molar come through as their first tooth??
Poor Chase is just miserable, and I see no signs of his two bottom teeth, but he has one mighty bump off to one side, and it seems really tender. Maybe they're all going to come at once.
He's actually been quite fussy in the daytimes too, and before it was only at night.
Teeth, teeth, teeth!!! UGH!

Biruk is being a terror. Still sleeping at night but during the daytime he's just impossible. Always wanting to be picked up, but yelling and wanting down right away, screaming a lot, and so on. Ick.

I like that. Better than "baby jail", which is what the other kids call it when Levi is needing some time separated from everyone.

We call the crib & baby bassinet 'baby jail'...though we've never used it as a holding area...it's just what we call it!

Well congrats to you Ruth :) And good to hear Nathan slept better last night!

Ugh, Nath has started to bite me with his teeth that are coming through and it is NOT pleasant. Grace only did it once if even that. He does it every feed and I feel so anxious every time he gets on. I shouted at him last night when he did it and his little face just screwed up into a cry, it was so cute. LOL. Now he is feeding and clapping at the same time. Weirdo

bummer about the biting nicole. Isaiah does that occasionally too. I punish him with a firm 'NO!' and then no milky for a bit. That usually brings repentance LOL
Isaiah had the worst night last night. He had a raging fever (from teeth) and was so hot and miserable. I gave him some motrin, but he was so miserable, he just wallered in pain, and couldn't even cry, he just whimpered for hours. The only comfort was nursing and he nursed me dry.
I hope that doesn't happen again tonight...stupid teeth.

How would you feel about trying a homeopathic teething remedy?

I tried the Camilia, it has the same thing as the Hyland's teething tablets, but it was already dissolved in a liquid that you squeeze in their mouth.

I can't tell if it works, I don't see a difference really, but everybody else says it works

I've got a question about the homeopathic teething tablets. Do they have to dissolve on the teeth/gums to bring relief, or can they just be swallowed? I couldn't find Hyland's this time around, so I bought another brand that doesn't dissolve well. Jimmy just ends up swallowing them before they are completely dissolved.

The pharmacist at my store told me you could just dissolve them in a spoonful of water and give them that way Christina, would that work?

It's quiet in here!

Levi seems to be teething...lots of drooling, chewing, and a bit of whiny/neediness. Poor little guy!

Some of you will probably say it's too early, but I started Levi on cereal a couple weeks ago. (he's 1 week shy of 5 months) My goodness, he loves it!!! He gobbles it up as quick as I can give it to him. I just give him about a teaspoon a day, though yesterday he got 2 servings of about a teaspoon. In addition to the cereal yesterday, he ate 37 ounces of formula. Must be on a growth spurt.
When should I start giving him a different food other than cereal? I thought I should wait until 6 months or so, but my Super Baby Food book says if I give him nothing but cereal he'll develop an intolerance to that. ??

we don't start ours (or even ever really use) cereal with ours. I start with fruits and veggies...they say do them one at a time and allow a few days with just that one to find out if they react to it. I would start with apple sauce or some other mild flavor and see how he does with it.
We did oatmeal to thicken things if they needed to be thickened. However the last few kids we have leaned more towards child led foods...basically until they were ready to pick it up themselves and get it to their mouths they didn't get anything...no baby foods (mushed up foods). Both Emma and Jack were about 8mo and 13mo respectively when they started those more solid chunks of food....so it really depends on the baby as to the age they start. Our first two we did "baby food" (the mushed up stuff)...our first I can't remember when he started it, but I do remember that by thanksgiving (when he was 3 mo) he was already on it. Hannah was more about 6-7mo before she showed any interest in anything, but really wasn't on baby food regularly until about 9mo. I remember that her first "real" food was Jake's birthday cake when she was 8mo...and boy did she love that!!!!

I think it's too early for some babies, and just fine for others. You're his mom. Sounds like he's doing well with it. As for when to start other things, I'd go ahead and start with fruits and veggies now...one new one every 3-4 days, and mix the cereal in that instead of giving it plain.

Don't know if anyone else would be interested in this, but I got THIS BOOK for Hannah from CBD. It's only $2.99 and is huge and full of fun educational worksheets all focused on Bible stories.

I doubt we would spend $35...I will have to look around though and see if there is anything else from there that we "need" or that hubby wants.
