anyone seen Ryanne lately? Haven't seen her on few days or on msn.

I am really hoping Nath will start to cut down breast feeds, I feel like I will be feeding him forever!!! Maybe once he starts to get more solids, I haven't introduced too much because of the reflux. Going to the Paed today to talk about it all anyway. He had cheese last night with his meat and he didn't have any problems with it. I also cut wheat out of his diet for a few days and it made no real difference either... He just seems to still have trouble bringing that darn wind up or popping it out.

she is gone to visit family for a week...then when she gets back they will be moving to a new place...so she may not be on very much for the rest of the month.

Mary is finally asleep for the night. She did not take a "whole" nap today. She would only take little cat naps for about 15 min or so and then be awake for a couple hours. She usually does not like to be rocked to sleep, but when I do then she will almost always wake up when I try putting her down. *sigh*

We had a long day. We went to the school to watch the kids at field day (like a track meet but only for elementary kids). Mary did really good. It was about 80 F but we did have a breeze. I would have thought that being out all day would have knocked her out by the time we got home, but nope! Anyway we are lovin this lil girl. She is smiling and laughing and cooing so much.

Update on baby taking the bottle:

My super laid-back baby took about one second of getting used to the nipple on that thing and then chowed the whole bottle down and squawked for more when it was done! Hilarious! I put him to my breast right away since he was still hungry and he nursed for 10 minutes with ease not seeming to mind having to go back to the old-fashioned way.

I was actually welled up with tears when I saw his dad feeding him the bottle. I don't know why, but it was just a really beautiful sight. My husband is a tender guy anyway, and to see him feeding his son for the first time was quite moving to me. (Awwww...)

THANK YOU ALL
for your reassurance on the lots-of-sleeping that Adam is doing today (and still is doing right now). He has never had any vaccinations at all (I'm not sure if we're going to -- it will take a lot of prayer), so it has nothing to do with shots. He hasn't been around anybody who is sick or any other children.

I called my mom (mother of 8; grandmother of 13 -- my mom is the penultimate mom) and she said he sounded fine to her. Again, I'm not panicked but it is really nice to hear experienced moms say it sounds like he's just catching some zzzz's as he's growing. He is 9 pounds, 10 ounces now (birth weight was 6 pounds, 7 ounces). Not bad for 9 weeks of outside life, huh?

ANOTHER QUESTION: Today I was holding Adam as he was sleeping and he started giggling. He hasn't giggled purposefully with us yet but he laughs one or two times in his sleep sometimes. Today it was bona fide giggling -- about 8 giggles in a row. (Priceless!)

Do any of you remember how little your babies were when they were AWAKE and started giggling? I would love to know about when we could hope to hear him laughing at silly things, but while he's awake.

Nicole, it sounds like Mary had a great day at field day. (Did she win any awards there for Cutest Baby?)

LOL, no but we did get a lot of "Aww she's so cute!". Mary does a lot of smiling and slight giggles but none of those cute belly laughs that baby's do. She loves to try and talk to you.

Levi was between 3 and 4 months when I could actually do something to elicit giggles.

My precious little girl...I just want to squeeze her, she's so darned cute!

She's got this thing in her head that a bus is going to come get her and all her friends and take them to school. Whenever we remind her that this is a pretend bus and that her friends don't go to school either (Please God, let some of them homeschool when it is time...), she gets very angry and insists that she is not pretending.

She just asked me if she can go wait for the bus. Oh what is a mother to do? I told her she may wait for the bus as long as she doesn't go off the front porch. So there she stands, Dora/Diego backpack on...waiting for her bus.

I wonder if she's going to cry when she realizes it isn't coming.

Aww, Donna. I wonder how she came up with that?

Biruk is doing so much it's just impossible to write it all down. I can't express just how darn cute he is. I *love* the 12-18 month stage.

One thing that I am so, so grateful he's grown into is a new sleep habit! He still wakes to eat at night, but I can put him down without him protesting. He likes for me to hug him and then "jump" him into his bed at the beginning of the night, and will lie there quietly until he falls asleep. He was so sweet yesterday when I was sick. He couldn't fall asleep but I needed rest so he just lay there and talked to himself. When I pulled myself together and went to get him, he was sitting there looking at his book.

I remember exactly when Hannah did it for the first time...it was two days after she turned 2 months old...on Joel's birthday 9/30/2005! We were in a hotel room in Rochester, NY (traveling for Joel's job) and I was nursing her. She looked up at me and giggled. It was the best thing ever!

I'm not sure when Jael did it for sure...but probably right around the same time if not a bit earlier. But she was full on guffawfing by the time she was 3 months old. I know that for sure.

Well, she watches Noah wait for the bus every day and waves at him when he leaves. She seems to assume that she'll be going to school soon too, even though we've told her we're homeschooling for now. She does love "doing school" with me, but also loves being with her friends from church. We're going to have to find a good balance...thankfully, our church has many homeschooling families, a few that I think intend to with little girls around her age.

I don't want to encourage this going away on a bus notion because we do plan to hs her. But...it doesn't seem to be going away any time soon either. LOL

Oh, and she didn't cry. She stood out there for about 5 minutes and then came in and told me school was fun today. Maybe it's like their pretend trips to the store??

maybe you can play into her little game a little...one day (when you have your van home) you could "pick her up" and y';all go for a ride somewhere for "school work"...like to the park to pick up bugs and leaves or something like that.

What do you guys use on your littles for bug repellent? We're going camping, and I'm not sure what I can use.

I recently bought some Avon Bug Repellent (you can get it off line) it is DEET free, and it worked well. The only age restrictions on the package says under 6 months. It also has a sunblock in it. I just tried it all out this weekend, hubby got way more bugs than me with his DEET based off...the then decided to use mine! Its an all natural product. They also have one with Picardin, but the ones I got didnt contain any of that stuff and worked well.

Jeanie - funny you ask that. I'm actually starting to get worried because Jadon has given lots of sleepy smiles, but nothing legit. I've had a weird two days where I wonder if he even likes me. I know, that sounds ridiculous, but it has been a thought (even if it is a dumb thought.)

Also, I showed Jason the sleepsack. It looks great. I just wish it wasn't so PRICEY!

Donna- Eleni does the same thing- wants to go to school/ride a bus. I really think we are going to *have* to homeschool her, though dh isn't fully on board yet. She is reading (not fluently, but sounding out simple words that follow rules and getting some sight words) and she still has a full year before she can go to kindergarten- she will be bored silly with K by then! (also, I wouldn't mark your baby calendar until week 39 since everyone else will be pestering you and with your history, you probably won't go in week 38- just a thought)

I'd have to search through notebooks about laughing, but both girls smiled and giggled in their sleep before anything "legit" too- makes me wonder what is so funny- chocolate milk, polka dot boobies- really, what is funny at that age??

Yeah...we plan on starting K5 work with Hannah when she's 4.5. She can't go to Kindergarten, even at the Christian school until she's 5.5 because of her February birthday and I'm sure she'll be reading by then.

I can dream. But you're probably right...all of my kids have been within a week either side of my due date, so those are the weeks I should mark.

if you do it at lunch time she can even have her own "sack lunch" packed.

okay. Tell me I'm ridiculous... no wait, tell me someone else has felt this way....

Jadon won't smile for me OR AT me, but he has with what seems like EVERYONE ELSE. Gma came over today and he smiles. I talk to him and he just stares. I feel like I'm getting a complex.

ok, let me just tell you...I have a 21mo running around the house that refuses to even learn my name...he knows everyone else's name, and says them (in his own way). He even knows his own name and pats his chest saying his name quite often!!! His favorite person's name to say is of course "Dad"...but MOMMY....nope, he won't say it for anything!!!!! If you ask him who is mommy or to go give mommy a kiss he will, but he REFUSES TO LEARN OR SAY MY NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so....no, you are not alone...and no it doesn't end with just the simple stuff. Babies do what they want when they want and for whom they want...but it has nothing to do with their love of you or lack of it...it's just babies.

Nath was about 2 months when he giggled, it was at my SIL (the good one, who actually was the first one to make Grace laugh too).

Took Nath to the Paed yesterday. We are keeping him on the reflux meds as they seem to be helping a bit and its better to stay on them for a month or so more then to take him off too early and have to start at the beginning again. He is 7.7 kilos (i guess that's about 15 pounds) and the doc was happy with his progress. As for the painful wind etc he said with time and movement it will get better and if its not to go back in 3 months time.

That's good news Nicole, glad the doctor is on board with you and things finally seem to be working out for you.
