I tried buying ahead and it never worked quite right, so now I just buy as we go *unless* it's a deal that I just can't pass up. We never really used a winter coat because it's not safe in the carseat, we don't use ANYTHING thicker then a layer of fleece behind her or over her shoulders in the car seat. I have yet to find a certified car seat technician who thinks it's safe, so we just don't do it. We used a fleece jacket and then one of those fleece buntings over the top of her car seat. It has elastic edges so it stays on there pretty well. I LOVE those socks, now I think I need some

Hmmm...I never have trouble buying ahead for my kids. But then...they all seem to grow the same in our family and I've gotten used to how they grow.

I've been wondering about the clothes thing too. We were given a ton of clothes, but only up to size 6 months, with just a few 9 months. So we should have clothes to get him through the winter. I've been wanting to buy the summery stuff as it goes on clearance but have no idea what size I should buy. I saw the cutest cargo pants with button up shirt the other day for $3...but had NO IDEA what size to buy. On the Baby Legs...I think they are such a cool idea...I totally want some.

Gabby has had sunglasses since she was about 4 months old, she will leave them on if she is in the sun, but once she hits the shade she yanks them off. She wears THIS brand and we love them! They were a little big on her, but I just added some of that stick-on velcro and they fit perfectly.

Someone mentioned a swimming suit with flotation built in. I want to mention those kinds of suits give parents a sense of false security because unlike a life vest (red cross certified), these floating suits don't flip the baby/toddler right side up. So the baby can easily get stuck floating with their head down--- in the water. (What a horrible picture that is in mind.) Children with those suits need close supervision.

We had so many people buy clothes for Akeelah and she wore so few of them. She was in 6mos at 3 months, 12mos at 6 months, 18 mos at 9 months...you get the picture. At 1.5 years we have to buy her 3T, some things in 4T. It depends on where it's from though. It's weird though because Akeelah wears the same size as my 3 year old niece, even in diapers. But my niece is skinny, and Akeelah has a belly and it seems a booty as well.

Levi is having an "I don't want to keep my diaper on" day. We went swimming and Brian just put him in a new diaper on the way home. He had it off by the time we got home (5 minutes). I put it back on, then made some sandwiches. While I was making sandwiches, he climbed on top of the table, took it off again, and peed all over the table while laughing. Boys... Levi has been very anxious around water, but he did well today. We don't go swimming too often and my SIL has tried to bring him in her pool, but he really needed Brian or I to help him feel secure. We put him in a life jacket, the kind with the thing behind his head so his head couldn't go under at all. He did great! By the end, I had him floating without one of us even touching him, and kicking his feet when the other kids would come near. Hannah was a big fraidy cat last year when we went swimming, needing to cling to Brian or I. Today, I had to rescue her from too deep water because she wasn't afraid and just kept going out until it was over her head. When she had a life jacket on, she was doggie paddling and kicking like it was nothing. I can't believe the difference in her in just a year!

I wouldn't pay for it. I went to a free Mommy and Me meeting on Wednesday and it was nice, but I wouldn't pay for it. For that much money I would feel like I had to go every week because I paid for it, even if David or I was having a bad day. Newborns are so unpredictable. Sometimes at 10:00 (when the meeting is) he is awake and happy, sometimes he is just waking up and fussy, and sometimes he is asleep. I wouldn't want to make that kind of commitment right now.

ORIGINAL: Brandy Ladies would you pay for a Mommy and Me class? Meets for 8 weeks, 90 minutes per week and it's all about learning about your baby, bonding and helping him/her develop. The group stays the same, there are no late comers, so you bond with your group as well. If you could afford it, at $320 for the full 8 weeks would you? Not for mommy and me, but we have/will pay for Gymboree classes. They are about $70 a month...

I'd rather hire someone to clean my house, if I could afford it, that is. Seriously though...unless you desperately need connection with other woman and have no other way of getting that...no. And if you are that desperate, I'd call your church and see what they have available. quote:
Ok Donna, do girls do that??? I cannot imagine what I would do if my child did that on the table!! I'd have trouble not laughing him to his room. Well, sure girls go through a naked phase too, but my boys seem more enthralled by peeing all over than Hannah did...probably because they can see the little "hose". LOL Can't imagine what you would do? Well...you'd let them finish, because moving them in the middle of a pee would make a bigger mess. Then you'd sternly say, "No. NO. Diaper ON." and move them off the table. THEN you'd grab a dirty towel and mop up most of it and then spray some antibacterial cleaner on the table and clean it up. And then proceed to serve dinner on said table. quote:
Go Hannah for no fear but geez that's kind of scary now. Yeah...she's been in SIL's pool (one of those 3.5" Walmart ones) quite a bit lately, so I guess she thought the lake would be all one depth?? She'll be wearing a life jacket the whole time when we go to the lake again. She didn't panic though...just said, "Mom??!!" as the waves kind of went over her. I was right next to her, just didn't realize the waves were making the water go over her head.

I do a toddler gym thing, about twice a week (or more if I want to), and it's about 85 per month. For me it's about getting out of the house, letting Nathan play and burn energy in an air-conditioned space and meeting other moms. We have fun with it, and I can take niece with me as a free guest, so we enjoy cousin time as well. It's not about feeling insecure as a mom, it's about going nuts inside the house and overheating outside the house, and there's only so many times you can go to Target to spend time. We also go to the Library reading hour for free. If it fits easily into your budget, I say go for it. But don't take the developmental stuff to seriously. Emily has a very good point that if you aren't sure when the baby will be sleeping/happy/fussy whaterver, you may want to be cautious. If you're pretty certain about the babe's schedule, then go ahead.
