This version isn't SG but Amazing Grace played on the bagpipes gets me every time! I not only get bumps but I also get tears in my eyes because it is so beautiful.

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/1/2008 10:28:20 PM)

have to agree there Jeff. or Taps at a military funeral is the one that gets me

Jeff_from_Kentucky -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/1/2008 10:30:53 PM)

Yeah, Taps gets me too! Actually, now that I think about it, there are a bunch of songs that get to me!

My mom has requested "Amazing Grace" played on bagpipes for her funeral. I have no idea how one would go about finding someone who plays the bagpipes in southeastern Kentucky, but she's has been requesting it for as long as I can remember.

Hopefully I won't have to worry about it for a while. My mom is 71 years old and is more active then a lot of 20 years olds I know.

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/1/2008 10:45:27 PM)

hopefully you won't have to either. sounds like she will be living a good while more[:)]

There are recordings available with the bagpipe version of Amazing Grace. The funeral home where my dad was back in 1992 had a copy and we requested that they play it for his funeral.

I just had a flood of emotion. Saturday will be 16 years since my dad passed.

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/1/2008 10:53:15 PM)

Jeff can't say I know what you felt because my dad is still alive but this October will be 17 years my mom has been gone. is why I say Tell Mama tears me up.

Jeff_from_Kentucky -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/1/2008 11:01:30 PM)

I guess part of the reason that I get so emotional with the bagpipe version of Amazing Grace is the fact that I do associate it with my dad's funeral service. I hadn't really made that connection until tonight. But it is a beautiful version too!

CountryPreacher -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/1/2008 11:25:01 PM)

Amazing Grace probably tops my list of greats. I love to hear Archie Watkins sing this one, but have heard many others. The first time I heard "It's Still the Blood" by the Inspirations, I didn't know whether to cry or to shout, it still does something for me every time I hear the song. I'll never forget hearing the Weatherfords sing "What A Precious Friend Is He." I could listen to it every day and never tire of hearing its message, or of Lilly Weatherford singing the solo part. Another is "Is That the Old Ship Of Zion." I heard them sing this live when Ernie Philips had just started with them. What a song.

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/1/2008 11:26:26 PM)

some good glory bump songs there CountryPreacher. I think I would love to hear you preach one time

When Mama Prayed by the Kingsmen

Came out shortly after my mom died when I was only 6 weeks from graduating high school. That song still goes straight to my heart and gives me hope that I'll see her again someday.

tenorsister -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/5/2008 12:19:34 AM)

When our mom died we had Wish You Were Here, Old Ship Of Zion and How Beautiful Heaven Must Be. When our dad died the only song I can really remember is That's My Home - Dixie Melody Boys.

MBrewerSings -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/5/2008 6:52:26 AM)

There are too many for me to list, which is why I love Southern Gospel music! For me I'll always be blessed when I hear Vestal Goodman sing "God Walks The Dark Hill's"...gives me "holy goose bumps" now thinking about it!

I Bowed On My Knees and Cried Holy...I think I got the song title correct but you get the idea...by Michael English and Gaither Vocal Band!
There's another version of that song that does that for me. KingsGold IV I think is the one that has David Hill, and he sings that song. Once you know the whole story behind it...

SamPaasch -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/5/2008 10:25:23 PM)

It's still the Blood
I'm doing thins for you

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/6/2008 7:16:27 AM)

one last few days that gets to me is Child Child featuring Wayne Maynard of Kingsmen. when he chokes up singing of I know I'm redeemed cause I been to Calvary I always start crying. beautiful song and well sung by Wayne. possibly my all time fave by them.

Dinana -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/6/2008 7:21:37 AM)

He Loves Me - as sung by Eric Bennett and Triumphant Quartet.

H.L. -> RE: Chill Bump songs (5/16/2008 2:25:36 PM)

I have to add another one here. I just got the Perry's Look No Further CD last week, and the song Look No Further is definitely a chill bump song! When I saw the Perry's a few months ago they only sang 2 of the songs off this CD, so this was the first time I heard Look No Further. Great song, and a great CD!

I agree! It is the most played song in my music collection--according to iTunes, I've played it 75 or 76 times since I got the CD.
