Joe and I went to a college bookstore today to try and sell some of Jake's old textbooks. There was a frat party going on next door to the store and one of the people there was yelling expletives at the man in the car next to us. I commented to Joe that I was sad that they would talk that way with me standing there, and mentioned that I'd be about their mother's age. Joe pipes up with, "Yeah, there's no respect for the elderly anymore."

No, I just had to laugh. He was really trying to be sincere and agree with my rant. Poor kid. I'm hoping he learns not to put his foot in his mouth so easily before he gets married.

ROFLOL..Sorry Sue, but you set yourself up for that one!!!!

We were on base today and saw a bunch of groups of new soldiers doing various training things (how to march, how to hold their weapon, arm to arm combat positions, etc)...I was wondering if any of them were your son.

I guess you couldn't ask if anyone's name was Jake R.... and tell them their mom says, "Hi, I love you", could you?
I can't remember if I mentioned it here, but Jake lost his driver's license during processing. Since it would have his name on it, would they get it to him if it was found, or is there a lost and found he should check? In our brief phone call the other day it sounded like he had it at one station and then didn't later. I keep hoping it will turn up eventually.

More Lisa news...the doctor did have to take her whole thyroid and it was cancerous. He thinks it was all contained within the thyroid. She should be released sometime tomorrow.

Judii you will have to do the whole state of PA since I'm not near Cindy and then there's Maggie in between. I know she doesn't HS yet but if you are going from Cindy to me you can visit her and then go up to Ellie and DOnna.

Well my day got changed around a bit. It was supposed to go like this:

1. go to mom's house about 11:30 to clean
2. Go to school for work
3. Meet DS at T-ball field for Tball
4. Come home for frozen pizza and get ready for bed.

Instead

1. Went to mom's house to clean
2. Went to work at school.
3. The kids mention that it is their spring concert. The K teacher's DD peaks in and visits for a few minutes and asks if I am coming. I tell her DS is supposed to have Tball but maybe if it gets rained out we can come.
4. DS's Tball gets rained out.
5. Run to mom's house for some of her frozen pizzas (I owe her 2 Red Baron Pizza's)
6. Back to school for concert.
7. Little girl from #3 sees me before it starts and gives me big wave. After concert gives me a big hug and is so happy I am there.
8. After concert meet the music teacher who runs the day camp that I will work for.
9. Come home to put kids in bed and drag trash out of basement

I am glad it went to concert but DS squirmed through the whole thing. All the kids I watch in extended care were in the concert and it was nice to see them all and chat with some parents. One mom didn't realize my kids were my kids. She thought they were just other kids in extended care.

Sue- Jerry said he should make sure his Drill Sgt. knows he lost it. That if it was left at one of the stations they 'should' get it back to him... BUT as he will *NOT* be needing it anytime soon there may not be a big rush to make it happen.

Donna, THANKS for the update on ellie- she is in our prayers fer sure. Give her a great big hugs from us when you can get your arms round her.

What?! I missed that entirely. I'll have to see the post. We are not allowed to declare anyone officially crazy. We aren't licensed for that sort of thing and besides, I don't think you're crazy.

I thought we were all a little crazy. Especially me, it is 2:30am and I'm on the computer!!!

I think my ear has opened up. Now, both ears feel about equal and both feel just somewhat plugged, but not bad. It feels more like they would if I had a cold. Does this mean it was sinuses or related to a cold? I suppose I will continue with the Sudafed for another day and maybe do the ear drop thing in both ears now. Not sure which one of those things is the cure, but it is so nice to have it not quite so plugged. I read in two places that Sudafed is safe while nursing, although the pharmacist told me it is a no no. I haven't noticed any side affects in Noah though.

Howdy y'all and thanks for the prayers. Ellie's recovering well. Her color looks better this morning in spite on not sleeping much (how hospitals are). If everything stays on track, we'll see the doctor around 5 or so this afternoon, and get discharged then.

I had to leave her fer awhile this mornin' to find someplace in town where the internet actually works. She's supposed to be able to eat solid foods today, and her appetite has been good.

It's official, Hazel. You are crazy.

And I don't see that Donna is denying it either...

My ears are ringing. It's been bad for a couple weeks now. I emailed my doctor. He suggested I try some allergy medication. Otherwise he wants to see me next week.

Hey ladies...although we have already decided that we will be using Abeka next year, I will still like to know my sons learning style in order to present information to him in a way that he will be understand, or when he's having difficulty, I can say, "Well, he learns *this way* so I'll use *this way* to help him." All of the learning style assesments are not geared toward young kids though...they ask about study skills and how you remember things...writing them down or talking about them, etc... Ds doesn't use any of this yet, so I'm not sure. Do they not have assessments that parents can use for their young children...or is a learning style not really developed by this age? He's a month away from 5, by the way...

Thanks for the report on Ellie, Davy.

Thanks for the tips, Ezri and Sarah. I put your suggestions in a letter to him. Now all I need is his official address so I can send it. We should be getting that soon. My only concern was that the lack of a picture ID would cause him problems. He said they had a copy of it on file, so he thought he was OK. I have his passport here at home. If the lack of a driver's license for ID becomes a problem, I hope they'll accept that.

he doesn't have a lack of a picture ID...he just has no drivers license. Actually he probably wouldn't need it anyway...honestly mine stays at the back depths of my wallet...if I ever need to show ID it's my Military ID, not my DL. So as long as he has that he is still good to go. In the military EVERYTHING revolves around that little Mil ID...now if he were to lose that then his drill sgt's would get him in today to get that replaced...that's how much it is used. (well, that's how much it is used at other bases around the world....we have found that here in the US it isn't as much. Over in Germany we had to show it at least six times just to go from our house to the store and get stuff and back to our house....I guess it depends on the base)
