Praying annie and shadow- Eh- flonase... Tasted like nasty flowers. I know you take it nasally but it would ALWAYS drip... EH! Now- is that riding shirt DS1 is wearing a crash dummy shirt or what? as for Mr. & Mrs. S- jerry had fussed at Mr. S for not taking his meds so he went home(drunk) and tried to take them. Mrs. S told him no cause he'd been drinking and meds say not to take with alcohol. they were in the middle of this husband wife discussion when jerry called before bed last night. Jerry backed up Mrs. S. Seems mr. S still wanted to take his meds (more than once) so to be 100% safe knowing she might nod off and him get up and take them again... Mrs. S actually ended up flushing the meds. Mr. S is home from work today and Mrs. S is going to get the meds refilled so he can go back on them tonight. Mr. S is hurting really bad. NARNIA- any ideas on how to comfort him? His realization that his grandparents had HEARD the same thing he had heard, and that they had rejected the Messiah- his knowledge of what that means for them is eating him up inside. ~ezri

Amy, I think crating both dogs is fair. Go to bed is a command here too, but it means to go to the mud room. The doorway is gated off and they stay in there while they drip dry. None if them needs to be crated when we leave so we only use it when we have soggy doggies. We also use "inside" a lot, which means that all loose dogs are to report to the front porch asap. I want to work on names - someone I know has taught his dog the names of all family members and common objects, so he can tell him to get the hammer and go to Lori or whatever - but I haven't yet invested the time to do that. Poor Mr. S. I had a bit of the same thing going on when I realized that my dad is probably not in heaven. It's tough. It was a little tougher imagining my mom getting there and not finding him. However, we all make our own choices. I'll keep praying for Mr. S. We are back to cold and rainy today. I am gonna have some ticked off kids. They wanted to go to the beach yesterday and I said no, because with gas being what it is I preferred to go today since we would be heading up in that area anyway for lessons, etc. Today is definitely not beach weather. The lake is still too cold to swim but yesterday woulda been nice to walk the beach. Oh well. His, your symptoms definitely can be allergy related. Jesse has the same problem. He's on Rhinocort.

ezri--Yes, that is Crash Test Dummy. Kinda fits because the year I got it for him, he had crashed a couple times. Those dog goned clip-less pedals (metal clip rather than toe clips). He was having a heck of a time clipping out. btw--see how much taller he is than me?! Cindy--our dogs know "go to bed", too. For the collie, it just means go upstairs and figure out where you want to sleep. He moves through the house during the night. For the pyrenees, it means ds1's bed. They also know "leave it", used when we put food in their dish. Poor collie--one day I put him in a "leave it" and forgot to release him. He sat there drooling, just looking at him bowl of dog food!

Ezri, I'm not sure there is a way to comfort him, other than Psalm 23, and to ask the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit in Hebrew) to comfort Mr. S. Perhaps when he is not under the influence and is calmer, he can look through the OT and see that even in the OT, there were consequences for not believeing. At least that way he can see that God was always dispeleased by disbelief. People are responsible for their own choices, whether we like it or not. I'll pray-it's not an easy place to be in.

Praying, Ezri. I'm glad that Jerry stopped by to check on him. I can somewhat understand the pain that Mr. S is dealing with. My father rejected the truth about Jesus. I was a wreck at his funeral, not only because he had died, but because as far as I knew, he was an unbeliever when he died. I cope in two ways. On the one hand, I hold out hope that he made a last minute decision and that I'll see him in heaven. On the other hand, I realize that it was his decision. I know he was told the Truth, and as much as it hurts to think that he probably never accepted it, it was his choice. Sarah, glad to know you're OK. We got a letter and an email from the commander at the base. These were generic communications, but at least we know that Jake's hanging in there. We haven't heard anything directly from Jake since the Saturday before Mother's Day.

It is very difficult when someone you have been praying for dies without knowing Christ. My stepmother was a truly wicked woman. I could not stand to be around her, as many of you know all the why's and so forth. I didn't hate her. It was just painful to be near her. I continued to pray for her for years, yet one night she died in her sleep at age 52. Not only did she not know Christ, she was a leader of women, leading them into paganism and New Aged thinking. Even though I had a very difficult relationship with with her, I was devastated by her death without Christ. She had flat out rejected Him and died in her sins. It was really awful, but that is the choice she made and she surely had that choice presented to her clearly, along with many people other than myself praying for her.

For a long time I berated myself and kept thinking that Dad would have believed if I'd been a better example of a Christian to him. Eventually I realized that we all fail and that I had tried to witness to him and had prayed for him. Even though I made mistakes, the final choice was Dad's. I still occasionally have dreams that he's alive and I have one more chance to convince him that he needs a Savior. Today is Joe's 16th birthday. He's not getting his license yet though. We put getting a job or at least showing a lot of effort at trying to get a job as a condition of going to get his license. So far he's put in 3 applications. He has a few others to fill out, but keeps putting it off. There were help wanted signs at several places last month, but he wasn't 16 yet and couldn't apply. I'm in no rush for him to get his license anyway, but I do want him to get a job and start saving for the future.

Ezri, Sounds like maybe we need to have Mr. S change focus. He needs to concentrate on the fact that the Lord has a future and hope for him. Also Shavuot is coming up-next Sunday, June 8th at sundown. If he is familiar with Jewish tradition, he will recogonize this as the day the Israelites were given the Torah at Mount Sinai. It is also the day the Ruach Hakodesh came on the believers (when they spoke in tongues and and many were added to their number). Since he believes in Yeshua, he too can add this next layer of understanding to his observance. It would be great if during Shavuot he could have a dish made with dairy-it is tradition that Jewish people serve dairy foods on that day, since the Torah and also the land of Israel are as milk and honey to you. If something has dairy and honey even better, but just dairy is good. Also someone should either take him to a Messianic service or if that's not possible , read the book of Ruth to him. That is the book read on this holiday as it is the story of a pagan (Ruth) who decided to follow God, then read the Acts chapter explaining when the Holy Spirit fell, so the two events are tied together for him. I also thought of something else that might help him deal with his grandaprents-but he may not understand it until he's had some days clean and sober, so here goes: There was probably a time early on in his addiction that he realized he was in trouble-that the alcohol had control over him instead of the other way around. He recogonized he had a problem, but instead of choosing to do teshuvah (repentance in Hebrew) and turn away from it, he chose to continue on in his sin and give in to his tempation. In the same way, his grandparents were told that they needed Yeshua, but they chose not to take part in salvation. No matter how many times they were told there was a way to turn toward salvation, they chose to turn away from it. And no one can make anyone choose Him. The picutre you did for His was great!

Narnia, thanks- I will pass on your information/insights to jerry. UPDATE: we just got back from the hospital. Mr. S is still there as is his wife. His toxicology report came back showing a high alcohol content + several high concentrations of several meds. he has seen 2 different docs. the second talked to his wife alone and told her that since he had told one of the nurses that he wanted to die in combination with the amount of meds in his system they were going to admit him involuntarily into Psych. We left at 10:30pm the Psych still had not come by to talk to him, no one had told him he was staying or being admitted involuntarily. They have a green star on his door and have him tagged with a matching green bracelet to let staff know he is not to be alone and has been assigned around the clock staff. Ray was there and will stay there even if the wife is there. He is required to have Mr. S close at hand. I believe that as long as he can hear him chatting he can be out of sight- but he never went too far. even his dinner break at nearly 8pm was a packed lunch that contained the same stuff as the hospitals box lunch(we know this because he fetched one for Mr. S and it had all the same goodies in it) It appeared that he was set to eat it in a chair in the hallway. As it was jerry and I were there so he went to the staff room across the hall--- BUT the station nurse remained at her post not 5 foot from the open door untill he got back. She never sat back down while we were there. Mr. S does not remember anything save arguing with the EMS about getting on the stretcher. His wife was telling me that it was good for him to see that folks KNOW he has this problem but still love him and care for him. he was still quite a bit gone when we had to leave. Jerry could have stayed on all night being a minister but he had me with him and I don't get a free pass like Jerry does. Keep praying for Mr. S and his wife- also pray that the doctors actually take what they have now and DO SOMETHING... He really needs to stay put til they get him clean and get his meds sorted and him stable and in his right mind. ~ezri

ORIGINAL: Homegrownkids That is a neat story His... I actually read the whole thing. I must admit, unless posts are short, I usually skim them, but I read yours. Me too, especially when I am behind, like right now, being a holiday weekend and family down, I didn't get online all weekend.

Yes-this is why I put in all the stuff about Shavuot-I think it would mean a lot to him to have someone show they care about him. Not only that they care, but also to show him it is still possible to celebrate the holidays he has already known while still believing in Yeshua. The two are not mutually exclusive-and someone showing some understanding about his traditions should also warm his heart.

Hi, everyone! I sure wish I could have 'talked' with you all today (not that you did much of that, lol!) because work was soooo sleepy. The only music going was new age stuff and we all were snoring in our seats. People are getting even more uptight since the fiscal year ends on Saturday. BUT, I got through that giant stack of filing, finally! I lived in a box forest for two days to do so though, lol. The boys are at youth group, so I have the house to myself for a few minutes.

Yeah, it has been pretty quiet around here, hasn't it? We have a frost warning tonight. I am very unhappy about that. It's the end of May, for heaven's sake. Where is my global warming? They promised me global warming, darn it! <stomps foot> I want my global warming!!!! I'm glad you got through the box forest, Jen. We currently have one in the tool room, if you'd like to come tackle that. My dh might let you do it, since he'd have to be nice to you. Ashley wanted to get started on it, but he won't let her touch his stuff, and I would be willing to bet large sums of money that there is nothing worth anything in any of those boxes.
