You can send him down here. We're probably closer than Sarah. By the time he got back, he'd be really good at digging drainage ditches! Let's see, he's 5 . . . I'll let him use a tablespoon.

LOL ... he's all yours! BTW -- last summer he became quite proficient at weeding gardens ... and picking up fall leaves one by one!!!

I'm just glad dd was having a fairly good day ... she's being weaned off of her bipolar meds, so if she had been having an off day, combined with the boys ... let's just say dh would've been summoned from work and I'd be booking a date at the spa ASAP!

Duct tape is wonderful stuff, ya know.

My 2 youngest boys have been at each other for the past week, so if you'd be interested in a trade I'm sure we can work something out.

Oh yeah! I don't care WHAT the gas price is at ... I'm more than willing to drive halfway to meet and switch!!! (You'll recognize my van ... it'll be the one with a 5 year old tied to the roof rack because he wouldn't behave IN the vehicle! LOL)

LOL there will be an 11 year old on mine.

My kids are playing this video game with an incredibly annoying announcer-type voice that reports everything done in the game. As in every time they do something. Like every 5 seconds. My kids are even annoyed with it, but apparently there is no way to turn it off.

No way to turn it off? Buh bye.

I hope Brandon's problem is nothing serious.

I am getting really excited about the state homeschool conference coming up.

I got a Wow Worship songbook today. It is hard, so I had my mother try it. She asked if they would take it back. Yes, they would, but I would have to pay to ship it back and I really, really wanted this book. I guess I'll just have to sing and forget the piano part. Maybe in five years I will have advanced enough in the piano to play it. My favorite song, Redeemer, is on it, but the music is really nothing like I've ever played before and I normally play classical. This book is hard.

actually, according to my piano teacher, only PERFECT practice makes perfect...lol
Cynthia...I mostly played classical too and always have a hard time switching to anything else (esp P&W music...for some reason it is the hardest for me!!!)

I don't know. I've seen cord markings that are on a grid, but this has c, g, dsus, d, em, c, g, am, bm, em, etc. Are those chord markings. Are those chord markings? All I know is piano and voice. It has both. Practice may make perfect, but we're talking years here. I'm thinking I need to stick with voice, but my allergies prevent me from singing about half the year. I'm thinking of having a serious discussion with the doctor about this issue. I've put it off due to a couple issues with medication in the past, but maybe they have something safer and better now, I'll have to find out. Maybe they can give me allergy shots. I really don't know much about this.

does the book say on the cover that it shows cords for guitar also? (That's what it sounds like to me)

I don't want to get into it now as it's late and I want to go to bed, but please pray for our congregation. It seems we may have another upheaval.

My mom just stopped by. (yes, it is nearing midnight) She didn't want to wake the neighbor to get her housekeys back, lol, so she came to get mine.

She brought me a new pair of Crocs Normally I think they are ugly, but not these! She bought them in PA, I guess (apparently she was in pittsburgh?) Here they are They are silver and purple and they have massaging nubs. Heavenly

My goodness y'all got chatty after I went to bed! Well, actually, I'm sleeping on the couch these days. Dh still isn't sleeping well. He tosses and turns, getting up feeling like he got a good night's sleep. Well, HE might have. WORST part is he does have a sleep disorder and sees a sleep doctor. He just went for his 6mo check up. Told the doctor that everything was great. Uh, no it's not!!!! So I guess one of us is stuck on the couch for the next 6mos until he goes back........

Cindy--how's 'bout I send one of my offspring your way??? Three guesses which one, and the first two guesses don't count!

Our youth group has a lock-in tonight, and I have banned my kids from it. I told them that I had been to lock-ins when I was a kid, and combined with my experience is the fact that I don't think there is enough supervision at youth group events, and so they won't be going. Brandon told the youth pastor this and he said, "Well, if your mother has any questions, she can call me." No, I don't have any questions, thanks--I already know the answers! LOL So I am the mean non-comformist mother, as usual.

Tomorrow is PaddleFest anyway, the kids need their sleep (and so do I).

Alllll right, I guess I had better go put in my last day of work for the week. Have a great day everyone!

Yes Cynthia ... those are chord markings, but without the grid ... they are telling you what chords you should be playing at what time -- so if you can do the basic chording for the piece, you can start figuring out the more complex music later. Are there any of those notations you are unsure about?? I can give you a hand with those if you would like (former job = music teacher ... )

Jen, you could always go with them, and help insure proper supervision of all the kids. I always loved lock-ins, but there were always a couple/few kids who were there to get in trouble too.

I always loved lock ins too....but our youth director was a parent himself (of three) so he was very well aware of supervision that needed to be had at such events, and he made sure it was provided. Our church youth group was the one that sponsored other groups to come join in with lock ins too....and you couldn't go anywhere without adults being there!!! They always had a lock in for New Years Eve...and they would rent out the local bowling alley at 2am and we would go have fun at that God aweful hour of the night. Funny haw back then it was fun to be up at that time, but these days I want to SLEEP then!!!!

Problem then is that the other supervisors idea of supervision and appropriate behavior is not what it should be and they side with the kids. It reeks when the youth leaders idea of appropriate is inappropriate-

so you see- recipe for disaster, a bunch of kids with raging hormones locked in together with adults that don't believe that this broken human race can "wait for marriage" and that to abstain is cruel and unusual punishment. That's just too much to ask- you know the belief that it is easier to ask God for forgiveness than to try to live by his statutes... These types fail to see that there is a difference between trying to live a life pleasing unto Him even if we do end up failing and actually planning to fail, then rely on the fall back of the forgiveness.

Yay Ellie.

I let DD1 go to a lock in. I trust our YP and his wife and the other adults in the church. Our YL has a ds who is now about 20 and helps with the youth too that he raised on his own from the time he was about 10.
