The sweetest thing just happened. Seriously sweet. Noah is with my parents tonight and Nick and Hannah were out playing in the sandbox, or so I thought. They just came in, with big grins on their faces, hands full of flowers (the kind that some call weeds) and said "Happy Early Mother's Day!!!" I have *never* been acknowledged by Nick on Mother's Day...not ever. He's always with his mom on that day, as he should be...but it still hurts every year. They both had huge handfuls of the longest stemmed dandelions they could find. I think I've posted on my blog about how much I love dandelions, even though so many people hate them. It was seriously all I could do not to burst into tears while I thanked them, took pictures, and then put them in water. I can't stop crying now that they're outside again. Who knew dandelions could be the best Mother's Day gift ever?

I don't have a school age child, so I'm sorry for jumping in, but Donna that was incredibly sweet! I'm so happy for you, to have such a special moment with your kids. How wonderful.

The dandelions are already closing up and wilting. I'm glad I took pictures. One of those moments I know I will treasure forever.

Donna, that brought tears to my eyes! Must have felt absolutely beyond the most special mother's day ever!

Well it's official. Brian's last day is tomorrow. The KICKER is that when he went in today NO one was still there that he could talk to to see if he could get on a COBRA plan just for the dental insurance or if he was going to get paid for his vacation time. I've spent the last couple of hours on Careerbuilders.com looking for jobs in the area. I found a few possiblities that I hope Brian will check into! Please pray that we find something quickly. Thankfully we have received our stimulas check today so that's what we are going to have to use to live on til he finds something. This also pretty much cancels our trip to minnesota this summer, which is devastating to me! My brother only comes home from California every 3 or 4 years AND my parents are hosting our big Family Reunion that Brian and I were supposed to help with along with my siblings. My parents understand but are understandably upset.

My sis-in-law told me tonight that Lowe's is hiring seasonal employees so maybe he'll be able to get something through them. With an "in" like his sister that has been an employee for many years now!

At least we now know that he needs to look for new work - the stress of not knowing is what is hard on us. Now we just have to get out there, apply for jobs and secure something before the college kids start looking too.

Anyway - tomorrow is soccer then Ethan has a birthday party tomorrow afternoon. On Sunday, after church, we are planning a trip to a local museum with a huge Abraham Lincoln stuff. Since the collection is being split up and sent to other museums at the end of June we need to go see it one more time and to beat all it is FREE!!!

Blessings,

Garsy

Garsy-I hope that Brian is able to get all the insurance details straightened out without much stress and that he finds work quickly.

Praying things get worked out quickly job wise Garsy. I'm sorry about your trip.

We were just talking about vacation a bit this evening, and hubby was looking at the gas end of it. Hubby's parents live around 1800 miles away (one way) and neither of us is excited about spending the money to get there. The gas alone would be well over a thousand dollars. So maybe we'll just do a weekend something closer.

Hi Sideways :) you don't have to have school age children to post here.

Donna that is just so precious! What a wonderful memory for you.

Dee, did you daughter get sunburned?

Garsy, I'm just so sorry. At least, like you said, you now know and can go on. I hope Brian finds something quickly.

Linz wants to go on a senior trip with me when she graduates (3 years) but with gas prices it might be just as cheap to fly and rent a car when we get there. She wants to go to california.

Yes Kath, she did. Although not as bad as I thought she might. I gave her some sunscreen for tomorrow. I asked her why she didn't wear sunscreen and she said "I don't like sunscreen." Unfortunately she is one that will always need it; she doesn't tan.

That trip with Linz sounds really fun! For just two of you it may well be cheaper to fly.

I'd like to go on one more family trip while E is still around, but I don't know. I don't think that she feels that close to the grandparents that we were going to visit because they don't initiate that much contact.

My parents don't either.

I'd be nice if we could get some sort of deal. Plus it'd take us like 3 days to get there if we drove. I hate to drive. I do it but I don't like long trips. We're going to probably fly to San Francisco and head north. I'd like to meet Karlie, see Kimberly again and meet Cynthia. I can't think of anyone else out there.

We've only been on a few family vacations. Once to florida, once to south dakota. I don't remember any more. I wanted to go but we never did. I wanted to take the kids to yellowstone.

That sounds like fun Kath! So you'd head up the coast a ways? Sounds like a beautiful drive.

There are a lot of places that I'd like to take the kids, but we'll have to see. And some of the places we've been the younger ones, especially R, won't remember. Well, actually R didn't even go on most of the vacations. And N was pretty small for some of the ones he went on. It used to be a lot easier to go time-wise and cost-wise.

Hubby's folks are nice people and all, but sometimes I wonder if they even know when my kids birthdays are anymore.

Yes, I asked her if she wanted to see hollywood or the redwoods and she said redwoods. :) We'd probably drive all the way up to Washington and even maybe fly home from there. No reason to drive back to SF that I can see.

That's a shame. My mom does call on bdays.

Good choice on the redwoods, I'd love to see them! Hubby's folks live in WA state. You could see the ocean. Mt. St. Helens is near I-5 if Linz is interested in that sort of thing. I hope it all works out! Yep, flying back from WA makes sense.

Good morning all! I haven't been on in a few days, so I just skimmed some posts.

Mississippi Burning is a great movie.

Mrs. D wound up taking some time off. Liz says the sub is just plain mean!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

My family took me out to IHOP this morning for breakfast and then we had to do some shopping. Hubby bought me the latest Taylor Swift CD! We decided to save the museum trip for a later date. It is so gloomy and rainy out, that this is a day for hanging out at home and relaxing!

Tomorrow we have a busy day again. Hubby is going to go and apply for unemployment, and we are scheduled to be at school to help plant trees with the 3rd graders by about 12:30. I also have to copy the programs I designed for the 5th grade musical.

My children just can't seem to stop fighting this afternoon. I'm tempted to send the girls up to their bedroom to take a nap!

Blessings,

Garsy

Happy Mother's Day!

Not much going on here, I'm going to give the dog a bath. She still smells like skunk and it's been like 2-3 months. It's never lingered on her this long before. I gave her a good bath right after and washed her head several times more and she's still my skunk dog.

I am hoping we get to go to outback tonight.

Happy Mother's Day! I have been busy. My kids are finishing their first year of public school and so far so good. Kali ended up joining a competetive pom team. I am glad because she is still young so if it doesn't work out for her, I will know sooner rather than later before I bankrupt myself in this.

We bought a house and sold ours within the last two weeks. I so totally can't believe it sold so fast. There were actually two offers on it. One on the first showing, and the other came a week after our first open house, and the couple came back through for a second look.

It has been so hectic around here, but things are getting done. At least my house if clear of clutter and all things not needed by us are now gone. We don't have a closing date yet but hopefully by the end of the week, we can tie up all of the loose ends. But everybody has accepted everthing on our end, the buyers, and the people selling to us. Inspections have been done and financing has been finalized.

We still have the drama going on with my son's dad. Well, maybe step-mom. He came home today and was all worked up because he saw my screenname on the search engine and his step mother was apparently on this site reading my posts. How Jr. High is that? Do these people not know by now that he tells me these things?

He didn't seem upset, but he was curious so we told him not to be because we don't need to deal with petty little things like that.

Church was awesome today. I am so glad we pulled our kids from that church and school they were in. There is so much more opportunity for them now. So, that is our stuff in a nutshell. I miss everybody here, but I have just been so busy, that being online doesn't happen as much as it did. But that is probably a good thing. I think an hour a day of computer time is enough if I am not working.

Have a great day!

Yes we did Kath. But my house was one of those small houses that was not very expensive, plus it has been all updated and we did price it for a quick sale. I can't wait to start in on our new house. It is twice the size and has three bathrooms. That will come in handy later. My husband made me join our churches softball team since they didn't have enough girls. I haven't played since 8th grade so I said I would do it but then I get to host the post-season party. I am sooooo excited.

YEP! I'm even not minding the softball thing because I play catcher. I only joined to be a girl because I have not played in so long and am not very good. But it is an afternoon at the park on Sunday and friday night out eventhough the kids have to come. But it is so cute. Jake is teaching Kali how to hit a ball. She is getting it. Kay just runs in circles and every so often, they fight with eachother and one of us has to say something so me being in the Catcher's position is probably a good one. The other great thing about this league is that before you can play, you have to pray. Both teams together in a circle. I just thought that was great.

Sorry your dog still stinks Kathy. Can you just shave him and let his new hair grow in? It is warm enough to do that isn't it?

You know what? I didn't even think of that. She's a sheltie, I wonder if her fur would grow in correctly. I'll have to ask our "forums vet tech". She'll know I imagine. It's only in the 60s here but that isn't too cold, she isn't an outside dog.

oh, and I wouldnt' have to shave her entire body, it's just her head and chin. I think I'll do that today!

I need to order tick stuff for her too. I had a tick on me last night. I'm glad I didn't freak out and brush it off, I pinched it and got it to the sink and then burned it with a match.
