One thing that's also important to note are the people teaming up with Bentley, such as John Paul Jackson, Ryan Wyatt, and Rick Pino at the 'Abiding Glory Conference' in September [listed on the FFM website], and those who commisioned Bentley on Jun 25th including John Arnott, Bill Johnson, C. Peter Wagner, Rick Joyner, and Che Ahn. Most of those names won't be a surprise for some of you, and there were many other 'leaders' involved. Just google if you want a full list of participants in that or any other event held with Bentley. Straight up: Anyone sharing the stage with Bentley rather than speaking out against him is putting their stamp of approval on his false teachings, his violent behavior, and his false prophecies. They are willing participants in Bentley's vile deception. All I can suggest is to make a note of these people and stay well away from them, their 'ministries', and anything else they have their hands in.

Honest question: in general conversations with the pastors at my church, in general they have no clue as to what is taking place. How much as leaders do they need to be warned and how much is it to let sleeping dogs lie unless something comes up?

'When something comes up' may be too late to address this issue with the congregation. I understand that many churches don't travel in Bentley's charismatic circle, but his influence can so easily be spread through just one encounter and taken back to an unsuspecting church.

I pray that those sincere people would find a real revival and be blessed. They deserve better. Well, I sure don't like to be the cold water splash here, but no one is going to 'find' a 'real' revival. And no, they don't deserve better. All those points have been amply covered in this thread. Particularly though, revivals don't just happen - no one deserves them -and you cannot work them up.

While it is true that a huge majority of people who attend those services are carnal and worldly and not living a true Biblical standard Christian life and even some that are even reprobate, the fact remains that there are some who ignorantly but sincerely attend those meetings to try to be blessed. The sad part is that the sincere are also being deceived. Is it there fault. Yes. They need more discernment. However, I pray that they do come to the knowledge of the truth. And yes revivals cannot be worked up. However, I'd love to see those sincere people taste the genuine Holy Ghost power which comes about from repentance and true sanctified living. IMHO, true moves of God will come about by prayer and fasting and then conviction and people repenting and seeking a closer walk with God - something not seen at Lakelands counterfeit revival.

Could Todd Bentley be another Jim Jones? In the early stages of his ministry there are striking similarities between Bentley and Jones. In 1955, Jones was prayed for a Latter Rain Pentecostal Conference by O.L. Jaggers who pronounced that he had a very special prophetic calling on his life. Years later when he founded the People’s Temple, Jones used faith healing to draw the masses much in the same way Bentley has in Lakeland. It may be a little premature to say Bentley is treading the same course as Jones, but I think it is a possibility we must be aware of. After all no one ever thought Jones would go to the extent he did by getting 918 people to commit suicide through drinking kool-aid laced with cyanide. Bentley’s claims show that he is very dangerous spiritually as he has placed much emphasis on angels, third heaven experiences, and has claimed experiences where his spirit left his body which is known to New Agers as astral projection. Could Bentley be even more than just a spiritual danger? Could he be leading his followers down the same course that Jim Jones led the People’s Temple in 1978 to the greatest mass cult suicide in history? I am drawing the comparisons and revealing Bentley’s false teachings at http://www.toddbentleyjimjones.blogspot.com

Use the right tools, and it's easy to induce specified experiences. True, those who have said experiences induced in them often grow up to despise the manipulative techniques. Most Baptist kids walk away from church soon after growing up. Or even earlier -- it's hard to find teenage guys in AWANA programs. Charles Finney was the posterboy for human capability, who developed most of the satanic soul-tools we take for granted today -- such as the "altar call." God designed us to interface with one another. We are hard-wired to be influenced by one another. Talented orators can use this faculty to humanly generate a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit's work. As Billy Graham's own research demonstrated decades ago, 96% of the results of his "crusades" are false conversions. Rotten techniques can overpower a godly message. Imagine, though, combining rotten techniques with an ungodly message ... I do agree with you on one point, though. God does sometimes move in a supernatural way upon a select subset of the population, bypassing the established machinery and surprising the "experts." I speak as an aging Jesus Freak. However, these moments of revival are ephemeral, and I no longer pray for revival. Reformation, OTOH, can transform generations and nations.

I am drawing the comparisons and revealing Bentley’s false teachings at http://www.toddbentleyjimjones.blogspot.com There's one big difference that I see. IMO, Bentley isn't looking for "followers", he's looking for the attention. I just don't see Bentley separating himself and a following to come out of the world, live separately, control them, and develop some doomsday ideology. Bentley's not going to come out of the world, he's very much in the world, doing the things the world wants to see right now, and I don't see that changing. If Bentley was interested in teaching and controlling a group of people, he'd be set up in a church or compound of his own by now. He's not trying to really teach people anything or to see change in their lives in any real way - he's in it for the moment, IMO. You could say that his teaching revolves around the angels or the supernatural or other things - but he doesn't do any real teaching. I've never heard or read anything from him that says "you should..." or "you need to..." He doesn't care about that.

He said that he had gone to lend moral support to his sister Angela, who had taken what little she had and arranged for a long trip from Michigan to Florida. This was at great financial cost to her. She did it because like thousands of others she was just plain desperate. The Christian grapevine, from Charisma to God TV has certainly provided the hype. "Thousands have experienced miraculous healings. Some are even being raised from the dead." And so with faith and expectation she loaded up her wheelchaired daughter and headed off to Lakeland. For two and a half hours she sang and swayed along with thousands of desperate people. And then came the testimonies. Hank speaks out quote:
Of course these kinds of stories elevated expectations to fever pitch, and so with tears streaming down her face Angela wheeled the most precious of her possessions towards the stage. This was her moment. This was the culmination of all her hopes and dreams. Within moments the paralysis of her daughter would be but a distant memory. This bore repeating. Suddenly, however, an agony beyond the burden that she carried in her heart for all these years cascaded down upon her and in that moment her dreams were dashed. You see, an usher blocked her entrance to the stage, saying that only the healed had entry to the healer. Angela ended up leaving dejected and discouraged.

Here's an interview with the guy that got kneed in the stomach by Bentley: Drop-Kick Article by William Dembski (Intelligent Design Author) "Where's the Evidence?" Angels everywhere! pandemonium quote:
In an article available online, Todd Bentley — talking about visions and angels — describes a meeting he led that, in his own words, “became pandemonium”. Interesting. Pandćmonium is the Capital of Hell in Paradise Lost, an epic poem by John Milton. The word essentially means, “demons everywhere.” Must have been a Freudian slip.

History of Todd Bentley. On the other hand, Lieutenant Jeff Johnston, a Salvation Army pastor in Port Alberni, B.C., who used to work in Bentley’s hometown, is more skeptical. “There’s absolutely no way that I would allow my own kids to come within a million miles of anyone who had been involved in a youth sexual assault,” he says. Lieut. Johnston notes a church group tried to bring Bentley to Gibsons for a series of meetings in 1997, but the gatherings were called off after Lieut. Johnston and other pastors threatened not to allow their youth groups to attend. “It’s one thing to be forgiving, it’s another thing to be stupid,” Lieut. Johnston says. “If you, as a pastor, had someone in your church ministry who had been involved in these things and they ever re-offended, the fact that you knew and didn’t disclose it to parents, take every precaution, would be a huge liability issue.” Tell me, dear readers, if the people in Todd’s hometown don’t want him, then why should you? He has been exposed on ABC News Nightline, in the Associate Press, and by the Bible. He is a liar and a son of beliel. Salvation Army Pastor

I am still looking for the drop kick interview - but I came across this: my 1st "Todd" link ......... I found this interview very interesting because they are discussing the 'angel' rant that Todd did - turns out there is more to that story than the apparent insanity of it - as far as I know this has not been posted before, if it has, well, it is very revealing and short enough to watch again. In the angel rant, Todd can be heard yelling: "I'm not done yet." He had been advised the day before by Rodney Howard Brown to stop talking about and promoting angels. So, I guess Todd is either addressing Mr. Brown and telling him to give advise elsewhere, or he just lost it. Could be both. Personally, I have wondered if Todd's handlers haven't encouraged him to take a break - he is out of control. Ironic. http://pjmiller.wordpress.com/2008/07/18/todd-bentley-the-spirit-of-rebellion/

Is it possible to sue someone like Bently? False claims etc? How about the church that sponsered him? Probably millions have flown around - people spending their savings - and for what? So Bentley could scream the word 'angels' over and over until it became a mindless rant with the 'audience' joining in? I wonder what would have happened if he had told people to start punchng each other....would they have done so? No doubt, in that mindset, some would. We are to use the brains (minds) that God gave us. Never should an individual be allowed to control people to this extent. Truly, nothing is new under the sun................

Whether it be the government, school systems, churches, etc. There is "no telling" what is really going on behind the scenes. Seems to always be "more to it" than what we are told. The workings of anti-christ spirits are every where. May the Grace of God open the eyes of the ignorant and the innocent.

Here is a recent video from the Pastor of Ignited Church. He is rather flippant about Todd's Baptism. This would be a video to send to the General Council of the A/G. If they won't take notice concerning this video, there is nothing I feel that can be shown to really grab their attention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZLg-U-dbTY

Charlatan, demonic, false prophet, or heretic? Which is Todd Bentley? Some research indicates he may be one or all of the above. A friend told us how they had gone to see Bentley in Louisville, Ky. last weekend. She talked about the power of his "anointing", how he had been "anointed" by a "cloud of honey" etc. Anymore, I cringe when I hear the term anointed applied to a person. The Greek term Christos translates "annointed". To use the term "anointing" to as an ephemeral power that is separate from the Holy Spirit that is transferred like an energy source is completely unscriptural. This friend talked at length how "power" and miracles such as that must be from God. On the other hand.... Matt 7:21-23 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' NIV 2 Thess 2:8-10 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. NIV Matt 24:24-25 24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect — if that were possible. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time. NIV Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K8XjObzfXM At 49 sec, Bentley asks why the power od God wasn't moving. He said the God replied, "Because you haven't kicked that woman in the face." I suppose some sort of spirit spoke to him, but it wasn't the Holy Spirit.
