Who Does Your Taxes? My Dad does mine.

APZR -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/6/2008 9:37:10 PM)

A professional CPA for personal, business, and pay roll. Running a business takes enough time. I don't have time to handle tax stuff, cleaning, or ordering office supplies. For that, "I have people".

For the last 7-8 years...me and Turbo Tax. Before that, me, a calculator and pencil.

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 1:09:16 AM)

I do ours, it's really quite easy.

10SNE1? -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 6:53:04 AM)

" Partnership Accounting" and we like it that way! [;)]

We have to pay taxes in 40-something states and actually file returns in several of those.

Our tax return bundle weighs more than a small child. [8D]

My accountant

NoShow -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 9:59:13 AM)

We have personal and business; and my friend that's the Tax Manager at a regional CPA firm does them. I use to do them and bug him with questions; finally he told me to let him do them. Said he'd rather be doing them for free, when it's convenient for him, rather than having me bother him when he's busy (I doubt I was picking times when he wasn't busy).

meg4 -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 11:51:32 AM)

I do my own, but they are not very complicated.

LCannon -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 2:32:45 PM)

I do the Turbo Tax 'shuffle', you know, Staples package and rebate.

VisitorinWaiting -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 5:28:55 PM)

Definitely NOT Jackson Hewitt... LOL
For all of you who diligently read this thread and have been for the past 6 months or so, you likely know my story. If not, PM me, and I will be glad to share with you how, as my husband puts it, Jackson Hewitt Blew It!!!

This year, though, it was Turbo Tax Free Edition. Woo hoo!

2shaye -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 6:03:51 PM)

My accountant.

PrincessDonna -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 8:46:34 PM)

I do ours. They are pretty simple for us.

BJinWA -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/7/2008 11:42:09 PM)

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/8/2008 7:49:34 AM)

That's not like a doctor operating on himself, is it? [:D]

P31W -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/8/2008 8:12:54 AM)

I do all they weekly/monthly/quarterly stuff. Our CPA's handle the business year end returns and our personal returns.

relady -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/8/2008 10:18:04 AM)

I do my own through TaxAct.com online. I am self employed and my husband has a regular job. It is really quite easy - not something I would want to pay someone else to do. However, if I did pay someone, it would be my dad who does taxes. [;)]

Why?

LaurainAL -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/9/2008 1:39:47 PM)

I do them.

karlie -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/9/2008 2:20:56 PM)

We have an accountant. Ours are anything but simple since we own a business and there's a partnership involved. We could do our own personal taxes easily enough, but after the the large expense the business taxes cost to prepare, our accountant tosses in our personal at a minimal charge. It's worth it to just let them do it all.

imit8him -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/13/2008 9:20:49 AM)

Depends. If I have a simple financial year (income is primarily from job and not investments property sales, etc.) , I just use TurboTax and do it myself. It takes about four to five hours total (including gathering and organizing receipts, but the software is so easy and effective to use (at $50) that it's better than going to a professional. Professionals charge you at least $100.

In a more complicated financial year, where I've sold various security investments and/or have other income, I might go to a professional who may more efficiently and accurately file my taxes.

So it's usually a toss up. But I have this thing about me that likes the "do-it-yourself" mentality (as long as I know what I"m doing.....I never do anything electrical myself!). [:)]

CoeurdeLeon -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/13/2008 9:24:42 AM)

My accountant.

Rachel_79 -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/13/2008 12:23:58 PM)

Our accountant, does our federal tax return just because we have two businesses and of course our personal. It is a nightmare and I'm just glad it is over for this year!

bzirk -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (5/25/2008 7:19:01 PM)

Our CPA does it. For the first 5 years we were married I did them. But the last 20 I don't feel comfortable enough in my knowledge to do them.

2jsmom -> RE: Who Does Your Taxes? (6/16/2008 2:51:46 AM)

My husband does ours.
