My husband no longer works right in our litte town anymore. He works late some nights~getting home around midnight. So I will admit I am a chicken!! I am scare easily. I am the one who used to lock my doors when we stopped at a corner and there was the dirty guy with the sign that said he was wanting. My 3 year old still sleeps in our room mainly because I am scared of #1 a fire. I am in a single wide mobile home. Even though it is a new one my parents were both on the fire department when I was little. Many people do not know that it only takes 3 minutes max for one of these to be fully engulfed in flames. As with many mobiles our room is on one side with the other 2 on the other. So I just do not think we can get to her room in time. The # 2 reason is children getting taken right out of their rooms. It happened in a couple of well known cases but there was one in Springfield just last month. A little 6 year old girl was taken right out of her bedroom window, raped, strangled and the empty house the guy took her to was set on fire. She was a smart little girl and played dead and got out when the man left. The fire department found her wondering around.
So do you think they are worth the money for whole house alarms or am I better off with the window alarms I can get at any store these days. I am also going to have to take into account that our Sheriff dept is very corrupt but that is a whole different story. People here call the state police if they need help. Wounld'nt a monitored alarm system go to the sheriffs department? I would like to try and get my daughter in her own room. I have fire alarms that are wired into the electrical wiring but I may buy a couple more when she goes to her own room, just to ease my mind.

I think a monitoring service would call the cops when something happened. Not sure, but I would take steps to make sure you feel safe. Install motion-detector lights, get to know your neighbors and look out for each other, and spend money on the alarm if you feel it is necessary. There is no way we can avoid every type of danger, but you are wise to think defensively. I just wouldn't cross over into paranoia. [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]
