I believe that if we are to be in accordance with Gods will, we must avoid those who choose to believe in false teachings. I feel that those who mingle with non Christians will be slowly turn away from God. I don't know how our family would measure up on your scales, here. We home school our kids, since it is a sin to render unto Caesar that which is God's, since it is a sin to support an anti-christian faith with the most precious item God has entrusted us with, the hearts and minds of our children. On the other hand, we cherish our Muslim friends. This is a form of evangelism involving the entire family, since these sharp young people (students) come from a family-friendly culture. They enjoy interacting with our kids, as well as with us adults.

ORIGINAL: JesKlu I second some of the posts on here. I believe you can be friends with unbelievers, but you shouldn't get too close with them. The reason you shouldn't get too close is because if you want to witness to them, and your friendship with the unbeliever now is deep and close, you will not want to witness because, by that time, you want to keep the friendship and not offend them by your witnessing. So for those who share this view, I second you. Your sister in Christ Jesus, Jessica Or conversely, the more you care about someone the more you would WANT to witness, no? That's what I've found. BT

RE: OP Yes I believe Christians can have non Christian friends. I also believe the Holy Spirit will prompt us if a friend (whether Christian or non Christian) is not having a good effect on us and He may require us to sever such a relationship. One of my best friends is a non Christian but she is not anti-Christian. In fact, this afternoon she was in a Christian bookstore with me (she comes with me often) and she was listening to a Christian CD being played. She bought it! PTL - now I pray the Lord will use it to speak to her as it has many scripture references in the songs it contains. Some of my family members are not Christians either and I love and spend time with them.

Yes, how can we water seeds for Christ if we JUST have Christian friends? We are accountable for ourselves to God. He trusts us with his word to witness. We also should have Christian friends to help us stay accountable.
