We're going camping for the long weekend. The weather looks alright though. Lexie, I've never seen fireworks around here for Victoria Day... must just be in the really big cities. We went to a playdate today, and wow, I couldn't imagine having a bunch of kids around. Mind you, there were about 10 or 12, but it was pretty hectic. They were 7 weeks up to 14 months! We had a lot of fun, and Chase was soooo good! My MIL came over this morning and cleaned our WHOLE trailer!! I am so blessed by her, she's amazing. I had to make something to take to the playdate, and it's really hard to be running back and forth from the house to the trailer with the little one, and she just came up and got so much done this morning. Yay! Now as soon as hubby fixes the floor, we can start moving stuff in!

We are psuedo camping this weekend. My SIL has her annual Search and Rescue Dogs training weekend this weekend. She does it every year, and people from all over the country come in for 4 days to learn and practice. We (hubby and I) always attend as support...we get "lost". I say psuedo camping because its at a church camp with rustic rock cabins (you can see daylight through some of the cracks) but at least there are beds. So we are heading to that on Thursday night. I'm taking Friday and Monday off work. Its always lots of fun.

Yolanda, how did you cushions fare the cleaning? My plans this weekend are to get my garden finished. We have the bed built, but we need to fill it in with dirt and get the sprouts in. I've lost all the tomatoes, squash and zuc plants, so I may buy a few of those, too.

Zippy, our Costco has gorgeous tomato plants, you might check there if you have a membership. They are giant compared to the usual tomato plant size, all of them have buds and a couple already had some teeny weeny tomatoes. I bought one and my MIL is going to babysit it for me while I am in Maryland for 2 weeks. I've been reading about container gardening and I'm going to attempt growing it in a 5 gallon bucket, or in these 18 gallon rubber tote things that saw at Costco.

I've never had much luck with container gardening. I've tried it twice, last year my squash bloomed but only produced one squash and it never got over 1 inch long! My tomato did okay last year, but the year before they all got blossom rot. This year we just planted outside.

Well... I can't really plant outside so I'll give container gardening a whirl. I've only ever really gardened in raised beds, so this is somewhat different but a little bit the same. The biggest change is from the east coast planting times/zones to desert planting times/zones.

Oh, I definitely think its worth a try, I know lots of folks who have good luck at it. But I totally don't have a green thumb!!

Are Costco memberships worth it? What types of things do you save on the most there? Do their prices remain pretty stable (as in, you know you can always get a great deal on toilet paper)?

I don't have Costco membership, I just go on occasion with my MIL. But we do have a Sam's membership and we save enough that it's worth it, although we save more on clothing then on anything else. Oh, and laundry soap is a good deal. Other stuff like Milk is also a good deal, but we don't drink milk.

I wanted to do some container gardening this summer. But I'm not so sure anymore. We can't put anything on the balcony because the window in the door is where we put the air conditioner. And Dh's allergies are too bad to go without the a/c and open the windows. I would keep the containers inside (we get excellent sun all year long) but I worry about Akeelah destroying them. So I've resigned to growing herbs and other small plants on the window sill. Yolanda - there are a few fireworks shows in the City for Victoria Day. But what I see a lot of is people doing their own fireworks.

We use our Costco membership all the time. We buy the same things there all the time: Frozen chicken breasts Propane Steak Grapes Engine Oil Pizza Baby clothes Cheese Coffee Ketchup I have gone half on some produce things there with my mom, like the grapes or strawberries. We LOVE their steak, it is so worth it. That's always what we buy for special occasions. Recently we found a really neat BBQ to take camping with us, and a really neat swimming aid for Chase. They have new things all the time, and some really neat stuff that you might not get anywhere else. Oh, they also have cheap women's clothes, as long as you wear teeny tiny sizes. At our store, usually all that's left is XS, S, and M (and none of those fit me LOL) We love Costco for sock and underwear too. Wow, I guess I really do like that place. We are lucky though because we have a second membership under my parents' business so it's a little cheaper for us.

I love Costco too. I have a membership through my dad who is an Executive Member. That means I can go there at 9am when they open instead of 11am. I usually get: diapers/wipes paper towels and TP garbage bags ziplock bags camping gear and propane pumpkin cheesecake at Thanksgiving Tritan fishsticks...they are the best I've ever had fruit snacks socks I just bought a bathin suit there too

We dont have a Costco around here, but we do have a Sams Membership. We buy all our paper products, as well as laundry and dish soaps, canned goods, as well as other things. Hubby buys all his office supplies and alot of electronics. He has a business membership so not only do we get extended hours and such, but its a business expense! I plan to look into their prices on diapers compared to Walmart and stuff when the time comes.

(((Nicole))) I just had a day like that yesterday. By last night I wasn't sure how to handle it all. I'm really looking forward to a weekend away. Zippy, I never really tried to wash the cushions yet. We got new ones to put around the table, they were at an RV store, and somebody else ordered them, and then didn't want them, so that was great. We are just using the other ones to sleep on (yuck) but I'm buying a super-allergy-proof mattress cover for those ones. I was looking for a futon mattress to put there instead, because we still would like to make the bed into a couch, but no luck yet. Little one will sleep in the playpen, so I don't have to worry about his cushion for a while yet. Chelsea, did you see the little mini wetsuits for babies at Costco, with the floaties in them? We got one, I can't wait to try it out! Erin, your weekend sounds like fun! I'm heading to my mom's group Bible study, I'm really not very excited about it today. I've been too busy lately, and just want to climb into a hole. I'm off to get ready, have a great day ladies

(((Nicole))) I was having one of those days yesterday. I feel overwhelmed with everything going on right now. Hopefully today will be better for all of us who had rough days yesterday! We have a Sam's Club Membership, but we don't use it often because it is a 20-30 minute drive away from us (depending on traffic). If it was closer we would definitely be using it more often and we hoping for one in our town soon. When we do go buy stuff it is usually soap powders, dish washing detergent, meats, and toilet paper. We also buy snack items that I normally buy at the grocery store, but are cheaper to buy in bulk. Today I still have cleaning to do and I also have to run to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few more supplies for the scrap booking class tomorrow at my retreat. They gave me a $50 budget so I have to keep all my receipts and they are reimbursing me the money. I also want to give Hunter some extra attention today because I leave tomorrow at 12:30 and won't get back until Saturday around 1:30. I have never spent a night away from him since he was born so this is going to be weird and I am not quite sure how I am going to do. I am going to miss my hubby too!!! I am excited though to get some girl time so it should be fun. Oh yesterday I took Hunter with my to the dermatologist to get the my results and this was the first time I took him to one of my appointments alone...I was scared! He did great though and was quite the charmer with the ladies. Everything is fine with my mole she said, but it did show abnormalities. She explained that they rate them on a scale of mild, moderate, and severe. Mine was very mild so they do not normally do any further removal of the mole, but instead keep a watch of it. She said she wanted me to come back in a year where they will do a full body exam. So once a month hubby is going to check the spot out really good and we are going to keep an eye on it. I searched the internet and everything I found lines up with what she told me. I also read that just because the cells came back abnormal does not mean that they will ever turn into anything further, but it is just something that does need to be watched closer. If it was moderate to severe she would have definitely done further removal though.

we have a Sam's club membership too, and we use it often. For one we can save 5 cents on every gallon of gas we buy there, and that is already the cheapest place in town...so that helps!!! And for two we are less then a mile away from Wal-Mart and Sam's (ok, I won't rub it in....lol)!!!! We buy paper products (TP mostly...sometimes paper towels if hubby is shopping...I am more in line with using things that I can wash since we have a ton of old wash cloths), soaps (if we can find the right kind), oatmeal (cause it comes in HUGE boxes and we use it all the time), meats (it is cheaper to get the big log of hamburger meat and huge frozen chicken bags there then any other place around here), and pool supplies (shock mostly....their big tub is right under $100, and the same amount at the pool store is about $125...plus it is better for our water and I don't have to use as much as I do of the pool supply store's product)

Chelle - that's great to hear that things are ok with the mole. I have an appointment next week to go get one checked out. I had one removed over 10 years ago, which was ok, but this new one is starting to worry me. Akeelah kept waking up through the night last night. First Dh got her at 3:30, then I got her at 4 and then I just completely got up with her at 5:30. Don't know what that was about. At least Dh doesn't have to work until noon so I was able to go back to sleep for a bit when he woke up. I've got a lot to do today to get ready for the nephews coming this weekend. I need to get the place cleaned, wash some towels and figure out how I'm going to feed them all on my grocery budget! Then it's the library and swimming this evening. I love Thursdays for that reason. Akeelah and I have so much fun at the community centre. Have a lovely day mummies and wives!
